Coconut Creek Little League Baseball: Majors Coaching Tips
Every coach is going to have his/her style of coaching. It is more than likely that this is the first experience a child and the parent may have with baseball. With that said patience and communication are key attributes a Major coach needs.
Basic things a Major player needs to learn at this stage is:
Correct Mechanics of Fielding
Corrent Mechanics of Throwing
Catching a Thrown or Fly-Ball
Correct Hitting Mechanics
Correct Bunting Mechanics
How to Run The Bases
Situational Baseball
The first rule is "get there attention and keep their attention". To do this make sure the kids are split up into small groups through out practice. Run your drills for 15-20 minutes max and get them onto something else they can do and learn effectively. Also use team drills but make sure that everyone gets involved.

There are other things that players/coaches can focus on. Be creative when using your practice time. There is nothing wrong with researching and sharing ideas with other coaches.
