First, Mr. Brent Stark (Chandler) is the new 2007 CAYFL Executive Chairman.
Next, CAYFL continues to grow into new areas of the Valley. joining the member Associations from last year, the CAYFL is pleased to announce adding
SIX new associations into the League for the 2007 season!
Gila River Youth Football, covering all of the Gila River area.
North Scottsdale Youth Football, located in the North Scottsdale area.
Desert West Youth Football Association, (formally known as Pop Warner West)
located between Camelback and Baseline, from 39th Ave out to Buckeye.

The CAYFL has had another large increase of participants, teams and adult volunteers for the 2007 season !! our growth is directly related to the great families and volunteers that have worked hard to present a quality "Kids First" program to the Valley !
While some registration fees did increase this season, the League has offered a discount for tackle players. please see front page for details.
The CAYFL is planning on another GREAT season for the kids!, and is making plans on sending teams to the 2007 AYF National Championships, in the Tampa Bay / Lakeland Florida area in early December.

CAYFL History 2006 Season
Our 2006 season was one that we experienced new Associations joining our League, and our original Associations continuing to show growth in their areas of the Valley.
Mr. J. Scott Brown (Cave Creek) served as the CAYFL Executive Chairman for the 2006 season.
For the 2006 season, new member Associations added were:
the South Mountain Association, located in the south central Phoenix area,
the Gilbert Youth Football Association, located in the Chandler/Gilbert area,
the West Valley Association, located in the Glendale/Peoria area,
and the Desert Highlands Youth Football Association, located in the Anthem,
New River, Tramonto, Desert Hills areas of the north valley.
Now with seven member Associations, the CAYFL was able to offer our flag, tackle and cheer programs to even more children throughout the Valley !!
For the 2006 season, CAYFL fielded 17 flag teams, and 58 tackle teams, with about 1900 children in our programs.
During the course of our 10 game season, the CAYFL also played games against other local teams from the Top Flight program in Gilbert, the Gila River area, and against teams from Globe, Az. as well as teams from our sister League in Tucson.
Our 2006 Championship games were played at Chandler High School on November 11th. The CAYFL Champions then would then have a chance to play in AYF Regional games against the Tucson Youth Football Champions (and be true Arizona State Champions!) the following week, at Raymond J. Kellis High School, in Glendale.
Our 2006 Tackle Division Champions were:
Mitey Mite - Chandler Rattlers 9-1
Jr. Pee Wee - SEV Dragons 9-0-1
Pee Wee - Gilbert Dawgs 9-1
Jr. Midget - Chandler Red Raiders 9-0
Midget - Chandler Vemon 9-0
Note, the Chandler Vemon was the first CAYFL "back-to-back" division champions!
Moving on to represent CAYFL at the AYF Desert Mountain Regional games were the:
Mitey Mite - Chandler Rattlers vs Tucson Southwest Rams
Jr. Pee Wee - SEV Dragons vs Oro Valley Dolphins
Pee Wee - Gilbert Dawgs vs Tucson Wildcats
Jr. Midget - Chandler Red Raiders vs Tucson Southwest Rams
Midget/Sr. Midget - Chandler Bison vs Tucson Marana Broncos
AYF Regional Champions for 2006 were :
Mitey Mite - Tucson Southwwest Rams
Jr. Pee Wee - SEV Dragons
Pee Wee - Gilbert Dawgs
Jr. Midget - Chandler Red Raiders
Midget/Sr. Midget - Tucson Marana Broncos
On to Nationals, which was held in the Tampa Bay / Lakeland Florida area.
Representing the CAYFL was the Jr. Midget Chandler Red Raiders and the
Jr. Pee Wee SEV Dragons.
as the year before, there were over 75 tackle football and 200 cheer squads participating in the AYF National Championships.
Both our teams played GREAT, and our SEV Dragons came away with the Jr. Pee Wee runner up trophy from the 2006 Nationals!!!

CAYFL History 2004 - 2005 Season
Here is a brief history of the Central Arizona Youth Football League.
In late October 2004, a small group of adult volunteers, from the east, southeast and north areas of the Valley, started to meet to discuss options for youth football in the Valley. From these discussions and meetings, three Associations that were members of another youth football federation, decided that they were going to make a change, and offer another option for the youth of the Valley to participate in tackle football, flag football and cheerleading.
In January 2005, these three Associations, South East Valley, Cave Creek/Carefree, and Chandler formed the Central Arizona Youth Football League, affiliated with American Youth Football, based in Florida.
Mr. Rhett Turner (South East Valley), was the first CAYFL Executive Chairman, this is a position that would rotate between member Associations on a yearly basis.
With the formation of the CAYFL, we joined both the Tucson, Arizona and San Diego, California areas as sister Leagues now affiliated with American Youth Football.
Our first season of play was the 2005 season, and all three CAYFL Associations had great success and growth within their areas from the previous season!
CAYFL played a full 10 game season, and held their Champiopnship Games at Pecos Park in Phoenix on November 19th.
The CAYFL Tackle Division Champions for the 2005 season were,
Mighty Mite - SEV Jr Devils
Jr. Pee Wee - Chandler Cavaliers
Pee Wee - SEV Bobcats
Jr. Midget - Chandler Pumas
Midget - Chandler Vemon
The AYF National Championships for 2005 were held in Tucson, and the CAYFL was fortunate to send 10 teams to participate in the week long event.
Our four Division Champions (except for Mighty Mite, as AYF does not hold National Championship games for this division)and another six "wild card" teams had a chance to travel to Tucson and participate.
These six CAYFL "wild card" teams were,
Jr. Pee Wee - Chandler Packers, SEV Grizzlies
Pee Wee - Cave Creek Breakers, Chandler Vipers
Jr. Midget - Chandler Bison
Midget - SEV Seagulls
In Tucson, there were approximately 75 Tackle football teams, along with about 200 Cheer Squads, from all over the United States who competed for AYF National Championships.
The Tucson Associations were great hosts, and did a excellent job in runing the National Championships. All our teams had a great time met many new friends from across the U.S., and played some great football !!
