The Section 2A dance teams high kick and jazz funk competition was held on Saturday, February 10, 2007 at Montevideo High School. The Cathedral Sonics captured the high kick championship trophy and took third in the jazz funk competition. The Sonics will compete at the Minnesota State High School Girls Dance Team Tournament held at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul on February 16th and 17th.

Sonics Edge Out Cannon Falls
A tie in the rankings and a 2 point lead gave the New Ulm Cathedral Sonics a First Place finish at the St. Paul Winter Carnival / Mounds View Dance Team Competition on Saturday, January 27, 2007. The Sonics also placed third behind BOLD and Holy Family Catholic with their Jazz / Funk routine "Ain't No Other". This was the last competition before Sections. The Sonics will be busy refining and perfecting their routine over the next couple weeks.
As an incentive for taking first place at the Winter Carnival, Coach Missy and Assistant Coach Lisa agreed to let the team choose their attire for the Parent's Night performance on Friday, February 2. The Sonics Fairy Godcoaches enthusiastically greeted the basketball game crowd.

Sonics Grow Stronger Through Tough Competition
The New Ulm Cathedral Sonics took on some of their toughest competitors at the 9th Annual Waconia Dance Team Invitational on January 20, 2007. The high kick team took a second place finish - only 13 points behind a strong Cannon Falls performance. The jazz team finished 9 points behind Holy Family Catholic for third place. The level of perfection has been elevated by all teams - setting the stage for an exciting season finale!

Sonics Take First and Second at RCW Jaguarette Competition
The New Ulm Cathedral Sonics secured a first place trophy finish in High Kick to the song "Are You Ready?" at the RCW Jaguarette Competition. They also took home the second place trophy for their Jazz / Funk routine "Ain't No Other".

Sonics Take First at Eastview
The Cathedral Sonics Dance Team high kicked their way to a first place finish at the Apple Valley Eastview Dance Team Invitational. The Sonics were also awarded medals as the overall champs in the Class A competition.

According to a Minnesota Sports Online Poll, the Sonics are currently ranked first in the state in High Kick / Precision and sixth in the state for Jazz / Funk.

A First Place Season Opener!
The New Ulm Cathedral Sonics started the competitive season with a first place finish in High Kick at the Apple Valley Avaire Invitational on December 2, 2006. They outscored last year's state champions - the Cannon Falls Bombers by 40 points.

Cathedral Sonics Class A State Runner Up

Cannon Falls won with a final score of 598, and the Sonics took second with 591. Montevideo finished third with 567 and Aitken finished fourth with a final score of 551. Yellow Medicine East finished with a 526, two points ahead of Bagley's 524 points.
In the Class A Jazz Funk competition, Holy Family Catholic took first and Marshall School of Duluth took second. BOLD finished third.

Class A Section 2A Runner-Up!
Congratulations to the New Ulm Cathedral Sonics Dance Team as they took 2nd place at the Section 2A Competition yesterday! The girls worked very hard and had great performances in Jazz/Funk and High Kick. While the Sonics receieved 4th place and did not qualify for the state tournament in Jazz, they were excited to receive red, 2nd place medals for their High Kick performance to "Alive". The girls are anxious to continue working hard in sharpening their routine and be ready for the tight competition at state tournament!

Another Successful Competition!
On December 10, 2005, the Cathedral Sonics competed at the Eastview Invitational and received the 2nd place trophy! The Sonics danced against seven other teams in the Class A division and did very well. They were down two dancers from Apple Valley, but still walked out confident. The hard work and determination paid off, and the Sonics were excited to receive good scores! Thanks again to all the fans. Your support is greatly appreciated both on and off the dance floor! Great work girls!

Sonics Spice It Up!
The New Ulm Cathedral Sonics competed at the New London-Spicer Invitational in both High Kick and Jazz/Funk this past weekend. The Sonics opened the Class A Jazz competition performing "Last Dance" and received the 3rd place trophy behind YME and BOLD. Later that afternoon, the Sonics kicked high, split low, and earned the 1st place trophy with their high kick routine "Alive". Their hard work and dedication paid off, and the girls were excited to have done so well. Thanks again to all the Sonics' fans for your continued support!

More Sonic Success!
The New Ulm Cathedral Sonics competed at the Winter Carnival Invitational in both High Kick and Jazz/Funk on January 28, 2006. This was the first time the girls performed "Last Dance" with new changes and added dancers. The Sonics did very well and were excited to receive the 3rd place trophy behind BOLD and Holy Family. After Jazz/Funk awards, teams from Class A, AA, and AAA, continued into the High Kick division. The Sonics performed "Alive" and came out on top despite the tough competition. Each Sonic received a blue medal and the team was awarded the 1st place trophy! The girls are ready to continue working hard and perfecting their dance for their next big competition: Sections.

Congratulations Sonics Dancers!
The Cathedral Sonics competed in the Apple Valley Avaire Dance Team Invitational on December 3, 2005 and earned the 1st place trophy! The Sonics faced four other Class A teams and did exceptionally well. Cannon Falls received 2nd place honors followed by Belle Plaine, Lewiston-Altura, and GFW. A special thanks to all the dedicated fans who braved the inclement weather to support us. Congratulations girls, and keep up the hard work!
