Dribbling Competition - October 2

Team, Continuing with our competitions, last evening we had a dribbling competition. During this competition, speed is important, but control of the ball was massive. In some circumstances, a player would be first coming out of the tight cone dribbling, take a big touch and then have to chase the ball, loosing any advantage they had dribbling in the tight area. Hopefully, everyone can view how the field was setup below. On the corner cones, they had to go around the cone completely utilizing the outside of their foot. Going through the cones, different skills were utilized for each competition. All of these skills they have been working on at least twice a week. The following were the skills deployed during each competition: Right foot only Left foot only touch forward, use your sole to pull the ball across, touch forward, etc... Outside, inside one foot, outside inside other foot. Scissor, then switch the ball to the other side, scissor then switch the ball to the other side, etc... touch forward, use your sole to pull the ball across, touch forward, etc... Outside, inside one foot, outside inside other foot. Scissor, then switch the ball to the other side, scissor then switch the ball to the other side, etc... Any way you want just get through the cones as fast as you can. The following are the results.

2v2 Results - Septemner 13

Team, Last night the ending game was a 2v2 competition. With all of these competitions, the sole purpose is for the boys to compete. One thing that bothered me in the 1v1 competition, was the number of players playing for a tie. There are times in soccer where a tie is good and should be played for. However, in training and when trying to get better, to me, a tie is a loss unless all players are trying their best for the win. The field was 15 yards square with two goals on each end. A player was awarded 3 points if their team won the game, 1 point if it was a tie, and 0 if they lost. After each game, the teams and opponents were changed. The following was the results.

Player Rank Points

Dylan Lane 1 21

Brady Francher 2 20

Brandon Morton 3 19

Juggling Results

Team, As I talked about at our first get together, juggling as well as holding the boys responsible is something I hold very high. Unfortunately, the first couple of weeks with team camp and all of the other things flying around, I have not been able to put this into practice until yesterday. Yesterday, the boys were tested utilizing their skills balls, if they had them. If they did not have a skills ball, they utilized a size 4 soccer ball. They had 5 tries to juggle the ball from one side of the field to the other side and back. I stood at the half way point, and if they made it past me, they got 1/4, to the other side 1/2, back to me 3/4 and all the way back to where they started, a 1.

The following are the results:

Player Size of Ball Distance Rank

Owen Hernandez Skills Ball(2) 1 1

Turner Murray Size 4 ½ 2

Jake Steinberg Size 4 ½ 2

Andrew Rossetti Skills Ball(2) ¼ 4

Brady Francher Skills Ball(2) ¼ 4

Dylan Size 4 ¼ 5

Farouk Saleh Skills Ball(2) 1/8 6

Matthew Bulmer Skills Ball(2) 1/8 6

Mathew Sloan Skills Ball(2) 1/8 6

Brandon Morton Skills Ball(2) 1/8 6

Innis Powell Size 4 1/8 6

Jake Schneider Size 4 1/8 6
