Carpe Diem Player's Code of Conduct 1. I understand that Carpe Diem Juniors is an excellence program and that I have made a commitment for the entire season. 2. I understand that I am not an expert in volleyball and that I am here to learn how to become a better player. I realize that my coach knows more than I do about the game and that he or she will attempt to teach and coach me in whatever way they feel will be most beneficial to me without being harmful. I will, to the best of my ability, always have a teachable spirit and a open mind to new drills and methods. 3. I understand that I will have work duties before and after each practice to prepare the gymnasium for training. I also understand that since practice starts exactly on time, I must be 15 minutes early to have all my work duties done prior to the start of practice. 4. I understand that, I will be asked to be involved in physical conditioning outside of practice. I will also be encouraged to keep myself in peak physical condition through weight training, running, proper nutrition, and receiving adequate rest. As an elite athlete, I realize that taking care or my body is an ongoing, year round process, and that drugs, alcohol, or tobacco have no place in the life of an elite athlete. 5. I understand that i am expected to support my teammates at all times. That there is no place in the framework of a team for negative comments regarding coaches or teammates. I also expect the same professional behavior in return. 6. I understand that if I am going to be late or absent from practice, I must call my head coach and explain why. If I do not do this I may be forced to sit out at least part of the next match play. 7. I understand that I must abide by the rules established for practice, scrimmage and tournament facilities, both locally and in other cities. 8. I understand that I have to report all physical injuries or illnesses to my head coach immediately so that they may talk to my parents and decide whether I can continue with practice or match play. 9. I understand that for a team to grow and prosper, individuals must give more than they take. I will make a commitment to be a giver of my time and talents to help the team and thereby help myself. 10. I understand that in Carpe Diem and athletics in general there is no place for racial speech or thoughts. I will treat my teammates and opposing team players with the respect and kindness that I myself would desire in return. 11. I will not wear jewelry or excessive make up to practice as I am there to learn volleyball and not impress the other players or coaches.
