Steve Broehl pitched a dominant game, tossing a no hitter.  He also added offensively with a 1st inning home run.  Also hitting home runs for Capitol were Zach Figliola, Evan Mitchell and Adrian Chinnery.  Capitol advances to play Stanton-Newport on Monday night

Adrian Chinnery's grand slam and Steve Broehl solo shot highlighted the offense as Capitol moves on  in the loser's bracket.  Evan Mitchell and Zach Figliola each pitched 2 shutout innings in the win.

Kyle Robertson's RBI single in the bottom of the 7th inning capped off a great opener.  Alex Spadea and Zach Cunningham combined to pitch 7 strong innings scattering 6 hits.   Offensively Jesse June, Matt Casey and Robertson each had 2 hits.  Capitol faces Midway, 6:00pm  Monday at Dyer Field

Alex Spadea broke open a wild 7-6 game with a grand slam in the top of the 4th.  He added a 2-run shot in his next at bat.  Also keying Capitol's offense were Robert Zappatterini who went 4-5 with 3 doubles and 5 RBI's, as well as Zach Cooney and Matt Casey who each added 2 hits.   Garrett Stryzs came in to shut the door in the last 2 innings for Capitol.  They advance to the Invitational Semi-Finals on Thursday night vs Naamans Red.

Capitol shot out of the gate quick powered by singles by Zach Cooney and Zach Cunningham and Robert Zappatterini's bases clearing double.  Pinch runner Avery Earley stole home to put Capitol out front 3-0.  Unforunately, Naamans quickly answered back with 2 in the 1st and 4 more in the 2nd.  They ran out in front the rest of the night and captured a spot in the Championship game.   Capitol will move on to a rematch with Brandywine Blue in the consolation game.

Capitol advanced to the championship round with a 5-2 win versus Canal.  They must now beat Midway twice to capture the 10 year old tournament crown for the 3rd time in 4 years.

Capitol 28 Newark National Red 15

A great comback victory for Capitol.  They trailed 12-3 in the 3rd inning, and then outscored Newark 25-3 in the last half of the game.  Mike Ciconni and Kyle Moore shut down Newark in the last 3 innings, only giving up three runs.  Kyle Risner broke open a close game in the 5th inning with a bases loaded double, driving in all 3 runs.  Risner finished 4-5 with 8 rbi's and 5 runs scored.  Also contributing with 2 hits apiece were Dante Cautillo, Shane Carney, and Gianni Ciotti.
Newark National Blue 4 Capitol 3
Newark scored 2 runs on a single with 2 outs in the 5th inning to take a 4-3
lead. Capitol tried to rally in the 6th, getting 2 men on base with 2 outs, but could
not score.  Joe Sammons pitched a complete game for Capitol, giving up
6 hits and striking out 4.  Jake Kucharski had 2 hits and 2 rbi's, while Kyle
Risner added 1 hit, 1 rbi, 1 run scored.  Dante Cautillo and Shane Carney also
contributed with 1 hit and 1 run scored apiece.
Capitol finishes the tournament 2-2, outscoring their opponents 50-30.
Capitol lost 2 games by a combined total of 3 runs.
