Capitol 5 Stanton-Newport 3
Nick Perry pitched a one-hitter and struck out 7 in Capitols first win in the 2006 All-Star Tournament. Perry pitched the entire 7 innings and logged his first post-season win. Tyler Hawthorne went 3-4 with one double while Matt Lougheeds 5th inning single with 2 RBIs allowed Capitol to take the lead. D. J. Miller, D.J. Perrone and Nick Perry also had hits for Capitol.
Capitol 8 Brandywine 3
The Capitol Juniors move into the semi-finals of the District II All-Star Tournament after an 8-3 victory over Brandywine on Tuesday night. Capitols Tyler Hawthorne pitched 7 innings with 7 strikeouts, giving up 6 hits and 3 walks. Frank Flanigans hit to center field scored Sam Goines to tie the game up in the 3rd. A 5th inning sacrifice fly by Sean Flanigan scored Goines to take the lead. Ahead 5-3 in the bottom of the six, Capitol drew 3 straight walks to load the bases. Joe Bermingham walked home and D.J. Miller and Mike Klabe scored to put the game away.
Capitol 16 Naamans 14
Despite an eleven run deficit and playing through a steady rain, the Capitol Juniors battled back to win over Naamans in a 7 inning game played through Saturday afternoon at New Castle. Nick Perry went 1-2 with a go ahead double in the bottom of the 5th to put Capitol in the lead 14-13. Sam Goines went 3-3 and scored 3 runs with 2 RBI's. D.J. Miller went 1-3, scoring 1 run and a RBI. Miller also came into to pitch the 6th and got credited with win. Capitol remains undefeated and now moves on the District Finals.
Capitol 11 Brandywine 3 District II Championship Game
The Capitol Junior Little League team won the District II Championship on Sunday, July 23rd over Brandywine by the score of 11-3 at Stanton. Capitol jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the first inning with a single by Joey Bermingham and exploded with 5 runs in the 2nd. Capitol scored 5 runs with the help of a double by DJ Perrone, a couple of walks and a 2-out, 2-RBI single from Mike Klabe. Brandywine answered back in the bottom of the third inning with 2 runs, to make it 6-2. Capitol came back with 3 runs of the own in the 4th inning, highlighted by a double from Sam Goines and timely hitting from Sean Flanigan and Klabe to make it 9-2. Brandywine scored again in the 5th inning, to make it 9-3. Capitol rallied again in the 6th inning with singles by Nick Perry and Klabe and the in the 7th inning with singles by DJ Miller and Goines. Winning pitcher Nick Perry went 7 innings, scattering 5 hits and striking out 3. Capitol moves on to the Junior Little League State Championships hosted by Millsboro LL in Millsboro, DE. It will be a double elimination tournament.
Capitol 11 Camden-Wyoming 0 (5 innings)
Winning pitcher Tyler Hawthorne pitched a complete game, giving up 1 hit and striking out 8. Joey Bermingham led off the game with a single to left, however Capitol was not able to convert that into a run. After a slow start to the game, Capitol jumped out with 3 runs in the top of the 2nd inning with 2 out hits from Mike Klabe and DJ Perrone. Perrone's 2 out single scored 2 runs to give Capitol the lead. Capitol exploded in the 3rd inning with 5 runs to take an 8-0 lead. They were lead by a huge double from DJ Miller and singles from Sam Goines and Hawthorne. Capitol then scored 3 more runs in the top of the 5th inning to go up 11-0, with an RBI single from Jim Diana. Capitol advances to the next round of the State Tournament against Laurel Thursday night.

Capitol 6 Maryland 1
In the opening round of the Regional Championship in Freehold, NJ, Capitol opened the tournament with a game against their neighbors from Rising Sun, MD. Capitol opened the tournament with a resounding 6-1 win over Rising Sun Little League. Capitol recieved exceptional pitching from Tyler Hawthorne who pitched a complete game, with 6 strikeouts and 1 earned run. Capitol exploded in the 4th inning to a 3-0 lead on a single from Hawthorne and a big 3-run home run by Frankie Flanigan. Capitol came back and scored 3 more runs in the bottom of the 6th with an RBI-single from Same Goines. Capitol was lead by Frankie Flanigan who 2 for 3, with 3 RBIs, Mike Klabe who was 2 for 4 with 2 singles, Sam Goines who was 1 for 2 with a single and Hawthorne who was 1 for 3 with 2 RBI's. Capitol moves on to the second round to play New York State Champion, Dewitt, NY at 8:00 PM on Monday, August 7th.

Capitol 15 Stanton-Newport 2
Capitol got off to a great start in the opening game of the 2006 Delaware District II International Tournament. Greg Cella and Steve Broehl combined to pitch a very effective game, holding a fiesty Stanton-Newaport team in check long enough for Capitol's offense to come alive. The offense was also keyed by Cella(2 hits) and Broehl, who ended the scoring with a grand slam in the top of the 4th.
Capitol 5 Newark National 0
In a tight contest, Capitol pulled out a win behind the arm of Jay Matheus. Mathues only allowed 3 hits, and struck out 7 while pitching a complete game shutout. Early in the game, Capitol could not capitalize on a couple of situations with runners in scoring position. The game was 0-0 heading into the bottom of the 4th, when Capitol took advantage of a couple of National mistakes. Greg Cella worked a bases loaded walk to score the first run. Capitol then scored 2 more runs on a National error. In the 5th, Keith Kubec(who had 2 hits in the game) scored on a wild pitch, then Shawn Alaburda's RBI bunt finished the scoring. Capitiol advances to play Suburban.

Capitol won their winner's bracket semi-final game behind the strenght of another dominant pitching performance. Chris Bedwell pitched a complete game 3 hitter, striking out 7 batters.
Capitol went up 1-0 in the top of the first on Greg Cella's steal of home. After a lead-off walk in the bottom of the 1st, catcher Christian Schafferman set the tone by picking off the runner. Capitol would go on to cut down several Suburban runners throughout the game. The game remained 1-0 until the top of the third when Capitol bats came alive and scored 3 more runs, keyed by a L.T. Cusack double. Bedwell continued to cruise along, and got support from Jay Matheus. His 3 run home run into a pack a young Capitol kids sitting among the trees in left field during the top of the 6th finished the scoring. Capitol advances to the winner's bracket final vs Naamans.
Naamans 7 Capitol 4
Capitol lost their first game of the tournament tonight against a tough Naamans team led by pitcher Conner McHugh. Capitol fought back in the 3rd inning to make it a 4-2 ballgame, but could not capitalize on a bases load situation and left all 3 runners on base. Naamans pushed ahead to make 7-2 in the top of the 6th. Capitol scored 2 more runs with 2 outs in the bottom of the 6th, but could not muster any more offense. For the game, Evan Hughes and Greg Cella each had 2 hits. Capitol now has to bounce back against Canal in the loser's bracket final game on Tuesday night. It will be a match-up of the leagues that represented Delaware in the Eastern Regional the past 2 years.
Canal 7 Capitol 2
Capitol's run ended tonight against Canal. Canal's Alex Zweir kept Capitol's offense in check until late in the game when Greg Cella's RBI double prevented a shutout. For the game, Cella, Steve Broehl and Christian Schafferman had hits. Capitol finishes 3rd in the tournament with a 3-2 record. Canal will play Naamans for the District II Championship Thursday night, 7:00 PM at Naamans. If Canal wins, the if game will be Saturday night, 7:00 PM at Naaamns.

Capitol 11 New Castle 0
The Capitol team got off to a good start scoring 6 runs in the 2nd inning and 4 more in the 3rd inning to put the game out of reach. Capitol banged out 12 hits, led by Luke Perry and Adrian Chinnery who each had 2 hits and a double. Every spot in the order contributed with at least 1 hit. Perry also pitched a great game, only allowing an infield single and throwing 5 strikeouts. Capitol's defense did not allow one ball to reach the outfield. Next game is Wed. night vs Brandywine Blue.
Capitol 11 Brandywine Blue 2
Capitol continued to look strong in the 2nd game of the tournament against a solid Brandywine Blue team. Evan Mitchell pitched a dominating game by striking out 13 batters while only walking 2. The game was close going into the 4th with Capitol holding a 3-2 lead. Brandywine's lead-off hitter reached base, but Mitchell struck out the side to hold the lead. Capitol's bats came alive scoring 4 runs in both the 5th and 6th innings. The attack was lead by Mitchell and Sommerman, who each had 2 hits including 2 run doubles in the 5th(Mitchell) and 6th(Sommerman). Adrian Chinnery also contributed with a 2 run double in the 6th to put the game out of reach. Mitchell shut the door by retiring the last 6 batters of the game. The next game is Friday 6/30; 6:00 PM vs Newark National Red.

Capitol continued its strong performance by beating the defending champion Newark National Red. Adrian Chinnery pitched a good game by striking out 7 and only giving up 2 hits. The Capitol defense played error free baseball.
The offensive attack was led by Sam Minka with 2 HR's and 6 RBI's and Chinnery who helped himself with 2 hits, including a double. Also contributing was Evan Mitchell(1 H, 2 RBI), Eric Risner(double, 2 RBI) and Dan McDermott(3 runs scored). Next game is 7/1 vs Canal Blue
Capitol 14 Canal Blue 4
Capitol clinched a spot in the semi's and locked up 1st place in their bracket with another stellar performance. Evan Mitchell pitched 4 strong innings, allowing only 2 hits and 3 baserunners. Capitol's bats exploded in the 4th(5 runs) and 5th innings(7 runs) to turn a 2-0 game into a rout. Sam Minka led the attack with a single, double and home run for5 RBI's. Bill Browne and Dan McGrath had 2 hits and Luke Perry had a hit and 3 runs scored.
Capitol 11 Brandywine Red 5
Capitol advanced to the finals with a hard fought 11-5 win over Brandywine
Red. Adrian Chinnery pitched 6 strongs innings, striking out 8 batters. Eric
Risner gave Capitol the lead in the 2nd with a 2 run double. Brandywine stormed
back for 4 runs in the 3rd to take a 4-2 lead. Sam Minka quickly erased that in
the bottom of the 3rd with a 3 run home run to give Capitol the lead for good,
and give Capitol the momentum for the rest of the game. Capitol added 2 more
runs in the 4th, and Dan McDermott put the game out of reach with a 2 out bases
loaded triple in the 5th. Luke Perry also added 3 hits for Capitol. Capitol advances to the finals on Saturday vs Canal
