General Parent Information

We are thrilled to have the opportunity to coach your kids this year. Our priority will be to make this season fun and memorable. We will try to win our games but more importantly we will stress to the kids that if they work hard and do their best, they are winners - regardless of the outcome of any contests. Another goal is to help our players become good sportsmen (and women) - good winners and good losers who always treat their teammates, coaches and game officials with respect. We'll be very tolerant of mental and physical mistakes on the field, but we will not tolerate poor sportsmanship.

As parents, you can help us in a number of ways. First, please do what you can to help your child arrive at practices and games on time - dressed and ready to go. We have the largest number of players we have had in the history of our program this year and our field time will be limited. We will always strive to end practices on time. Please try to have someone there to pick up your child at our stated finish time. Also, please be sure your child brings all of his or her equipment. Lacrosse is a game with plenty of contact. We cannot allow players on the field without all of the required equipment. As we help them with skill development, it would be great if you could reinforce these skills at home. If you can spare the time to have a catch with your child, please do. If you're not comfortable with a lacrosse stick, a baseball glove will work fine.   Kids at this age also learn a lot by watching others. Whenever you have an opportunity, please expose your child to good lacrosse, whether that's a college game on TV or an in-person visit to a game at Cape High School or Bowdoin College or any of the other schools in the area.

Lastly, and most importantly, you can help the coaches by letting us know how your child is doing. As we've said, we want them to have fun - if they're not, let us know - our feelings won't be hurt. We'll be using this web site for our general communication, but if you want to reach us directly, please send an email any time or talk to us before/after practice or a game.

Thanks for giving us this opportunity to coach your kids - we're looking forward to a great 2009 season!

"The winners in life think constantly in terms of I can, I will, and I am. Losers, on the other hand, concentrate their waking thoughts on what they should have or would have done, or what they can't do." - Dennis Waitley
