We will be having a yoga class for all squads on Thursdays from 3-4pm in the cafeteria. Please plan to participate in this class every week. The cost is $2 per cheerleader per session. You will pay Ms. Hurt (in guidance) by the Wednesday before class each week (or pay in advance for a lump sum of classes).
Freshman and JV squads- plan to stay after yoga on game days. We can organize a pizza/food order and have a studyhall before it's time to get ready for the game.
Varsity- I expect you to attend even if we aren't having an extra practice.

Monday, August 22
Many of you have asked what you can do as parents to help the program - please choose one of these below! :-)
1) We have another fundraiser to help defray the costs of the new warm ups that the girls picked out. They are Scentsy products. (check it out at scentsy.com). Due to time, you will need to front the money for the warm ups, but all profits for scentsy will come to you to ‘reimburse’ yourself. If you do not plan to order a warm up, we do ask that you still try to sell at least one item for the team benefit. I will be passing out the pamphlets at the first practice (JV can stop by and get one at the beginning of practice if you don’t want to wait until Tues).
2) Back to School night is scheduled for Sept 1st. Make sure you get your 2 baskets per cheerleader ready to go! I will be collecting baskets the day before the event- Ms Martini and Ms. Smith (Hannah-Catherine's mom) have offered to help (during practice time) with this job of numbering and organizing baskets that are dropped off. I will also need parents during the night of the auction to help. Since this means you will miss out on visiting with teachers, I really hope some upper classman parents can volunteer.
3) We need to pull a committee together for a Spaghetti Dinner fundraiser (one of our 2 most successful fundraisers for the Fall). Please let me know if you’re interested in helping. This needs to happen asap so we can book a date for the fall. I will need one parent to ‘head’ the committee and a few more to assist with planning, getting donations, picking up, and day-of prep.
Monday, August 22
1) Ms. Hooper has volunteered to be our Parent Rep for the Boosters meetings. THANK YOU!
2) I need to start collecting money and composing a roster for who will be attending the Navy Game experience on Sat October 8th. We’ll leave HHS around 7am and spend the majority of our day at Navy stadium. I will need your $25 (optional +$12 t-shirt and size) by the end of next week (Aug 26th). If you don’t pay by then, you cannot attend (even if you rsvp’d earlier). If you have a fundraising balance from the spirit cups, you are welcome to use that for this. Parents, friends, and other guests can purchase tickets at a discounted rate (last year it was $12) at a later date. **I just found out that parent/guest tickets will be $25.**
3) Cheerleading pictures will be on Aug 25th from 3-3:30pm on the stadium field. We will continue with normal practice schedule immediately following pictures. I will pass out picture forms at practice this week.
4) Don’t forget to order your Marlow items before the closing time Monday, Aug 29th. https://marlow.itemorder.com, HHSFALL11
5) I was just lectured by the AD in front of all of the Fall head coaches about our dress for practice. Yes, I know that it is safe for cheerleaders to wear short, tight clothing etc but many of the other coaches have a problem with it. It’s a distraction and it is inappropriate for school if you are not in the cafeteria actually practicing. Girls are to change in the bathroom that is located nearest to the cafeteria- not the locker room. Also, while girls are getting mats for practice and/or a drink from the lobby, they MUST be covered with ‘school appropriate’ clothing (warm ups, sweats, t-shirts, longer shorts etc). No strappy tanks, soffee shorts, etc are acceptable to wear outside of the cafeteria.
6) A few new policies have been added to the county-wide athletic handbook. I have a sheet I will pass out at practice on Mon/Tues that highlights them and requires a signature. In addition, we have a new guideline with treating/preventing concussions with info for both parents and players- this also has to be signed off by athlete and parent. All of these forms are to be filled out and signed immediately or cheerleaders cannot participate.
Friday, August 26
Scentsy Orders are due to me by Saturday, September 24th.
Reminder that all girls are to sell a minimum of 1 Scentsy product per cheerleader to benefit the team. Please try to sell as much as you can. All cheerleaders should have the forms by now.
If you’d like to use this fundraiser to pay for the new warm-ups, you can do so by selling more. You can specify when you turn it in to me.
*Don’t forget to order your warm ups before Monday!
