Canal Little League: FAQ

Volunteer FAQ's

Q: Why do you call volunteer hours 'volunteer' when they are required?

A:  Volunteer is a term used to designate us all as 'unpaid' contributors.  CLL is entirely operated by volunteers.

Q: How many volunteer hours are required of my family?

A:  Each family is required to serve 3 hours of concession stand duty, and 3 hours of any other volunteer duty such as Field Day, Canal Day, Umpiring, etc...

Q: If I have three children in the league, must I work 18 hours?

A:  No.  It is 6 total hours per family.

Q: Can multiple family members complete volunteer hours faster?

A:  Yes. Example:  If a husband and wife both work in the concession stand 1.5 hours each, that is a total of 3 hours served in the concession stand.

Q: How do I get my bond money back?

A:  When you have completed your required 6 hours of volunteer duties, e-mail: workbonds@CanalLittleLeague.org or contact our Treasurer directly.

Baseball Season Questions

Q: I have a complaint, what do I do?

A: If you feel a league officer, manager, coach or any other volunteer has done you wrong or performed in a manner inconsistent with the leagues standards, you are welcome to voice your concern.  To do so, it must be in writing to Canal Little League's President.  Currently for the 2009 Season complaint should be made in writing to Maurice Parson. The league's mailing address is: PO Box 506 Bear DE 19701. Attention Maurice Parson.

Q: I feel the coach is not playing my child enough, what is the minimum amount of playing time my child is entitled to?

A: Six (6) defensive outs and one (1) at bat.

Q: I'm an avid fan, can an umpire eject me?

A: No.  Fans can be ejected from the field for disrupting games, but not by an umpire; only by a league officer.

Q: Why isn't the concession stand open?

A: If volunteers do not show up to serve their required duty hours, the concession stand's cannot open.

Q: Does my child have to make every practice?

A: No. However a Manager cannot properly field a team without both having a consistent unit on the field and knowing the capability of his players.  Commitment to the team and sport is rewarded.
