Canal Little League: Parents' Page

Dear Parents,
Little League baseball and softball is much more than just bats, balls, a field, dugouts, or any other dozens of physical items that go into it. It is a leadership program for both children and adults, with the aim of helping children to become good and decent citizens, as well as taking an active part in our league.
Children learn the positive values of good sportsmanship, fair play, commitment and team work - values they can use throughout their lives. Adults involved as volunteers in our league gain a sense of belonging in the community, and can convey their leadership qualities to our children, so they will grow into tomorrow's leaders. We challenge you to help make Canal Little League's program more successful through your active participation. Ask any manager, coach, team parent or board member how you can become more involved. Leadership skills are better learned by our children through our examples.
One such very important leadership role our league is asking for is for you to become a part of something awesome...our New Fields Committee. We've accomplished a lot so far, but we cannot do it alone. We need help from our community and from each other. For each of us to make a personal committment to be a part of the New Fields Team, we can really contribute to our children's future.
We all know that the measure of a successful league is through how much fun our kids have in a positive atmosphere that provides the best athletic and personal growth for each child. Let's also realize that we have a unique opportunity to make a lasting impact on our community by becoming involved and making the dream real. Let's show our kids we are real role models so they can play ball on a brand new field next spring!
For more information on our New Fields Committee, please visit the New Fields page to the left.

The Canal Little League phone number is 834-0160. In the case of questionable weather, please call this number or check the main page of this website. If games are cancelled, the phone and web site will be updated by 4 pm weekdays and 8 am on weekends. If no message is on the phone or web page and you have not received a call from your manager, then please show up at the field at your scheduled time.
The following steps will be taken when calling games: Each league officer makes a decision based on their individual fields. If it is after 4:00 (weekdays) or 8:00 (weekends), then both participating managers will make a decision. If the managers cannot agree then it goes to the umpires to make the decision. The last persons in the chain of command at game time will be the umpires. Once the umpire starts the game, he can then cancel the game for safety reasons if necessary. All games will be made up in accordance with their league's policy.
