CANAL 11 - 0 NEW CASTLE / SUBURBAN (4 INN)

Brittany Ford pitched a two hit shut-out for Canal. Brittany also tripled, had an RBI and scored. Hayley Zwier was 2-for-2 with two RBI and a run scored.

Haley Powers singled, scored twice and had an RBI. Kiera Swank singled, scored, and had an RBI. Jenna Vasquez and Anna Baxter had RBIs and scored.

Maryanna Lynch, Megan Smith, Katrina Conner, and Anna McGough all scored for Canal.

NEW CASTLE / SUBURBAN - Alycea Watson and Savannah Clark singled.

DISTRICT 2 - MAJOR SOFTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP

CANAL 12 - 2 NEW CASTLE / SUBURBAN

Canal wins the MJSB D2 Championship with a 12-2 victory over New Castle/Suburban. Kiera Swank doubled and had 4 RBIs, Brittany Ford doubled and had 3 RBIs, Katrina Conner singled and scored, and Jenna Vasques, Marissa Thompson, Anna McGough, and Maryanna Lynch each scored twice for CANAL.

Stella Finnimore and Cynthia Collazzo scored for New Castle/Suburban.

Canal advances to the State Tournament at Rehoboth Little League.

Major Softball State Tournament

CANAL 9 - 5 MILFORD

Brittany Ford pitched a complete game and scored twice for Canal. Marissa Thompson was 2 for 3 with a RBI, Jenna Vasquez singled and had 2 RBIs, and Haley Frati singled and scored twice.

Haley Powers and Kiera Swank had RBI singles. Anna McGough, Maryanna Lynch, Caroline Jadick, and Hayley Zwier all scored for Canal.

Haylee Scruggs pitched a complete game, singled and scored. Jenna Campbell tripled and scored. Jasmine Passwater was 2 for 2, scored and had a RBI. Emily Messick hit a 2-run single for Milford.

Canal will play Laurel on Thursday. Milford will play the loser of that game Friday.

Major Softball State Tournament

Canal Rallies to Defeat Laurel

CANAL 9-5 LAUREL

Canal rallied from a 4-2 deficit to tie the game in the 5th inning and then took the the lead and came away with a  9-5 win over Laurel Thurs night at Rehoboth LL.

Haley Frati and Haley Powers combined to pitch a one-hitter for Canal. Maryanna Lynch was 2-for-2 with 2 doubles, 2 runs scored, and 2 RBIs. Kiera Swank  went 2-for-4 with a triple and 2 runs scored. Jenna Vasquez had 2 hits and 3 runs scored, Brittany Ford had 2 hits, 2 RBIs and scored, and Hayley Zwier and Marissa Thompson had RBI singles.

Canal advances to Saturday's Championship game at Rehoboth LL. Milford will play Laurel Fri night for the right to play Canal. The major team is one more win away from Albany and Canal softball's first state title since '04. Go get em girls!!
