Congratulations Heat! '09 Major Softball Regular Season Champs!

   HEAT CAPTURE '09 REGULAR SEASON CHAMPIONSHIP! 

The Heat and Force played another tight game befitting their previous two matchups.
It was a classic pitcher's duel ending in a 2-1 Heat victory, as The Heat welcomed Katie K back from her Iowa vacation. 

Brittany F went the distance throwing a no hitter in winning her 9th of the season.
Britt had 8 k's while only walking one, while her counterpart Haley F struck out 10, with 2 walks and giving up just 2 hits. 
 

The Heat put the pressure on the Force in the first inning, loading the bases on a walk to Caroline, a single by Brittany and Katie reaching on an error. Caroline and Brittany then scored on errors  when Sierra and Kayleigh put the ball in play to third base. The game stayed tight as Brittany retired 6 batters in a row over the next three innings and allowing only 2 runners on base. The Force's Haley F was equal to the task as she retired 7 Heat batters in a row. The Force got their lone run in the final inning on an error and a fielders choice.
 

Defensively, The Heat received 3 strong plays a piece by Jayme at short and Sierra at second with Sierra snaring a sinking liner to close out the third inning. The Heat get the #1 seed in the playoffs which begin next week. 
       

Congratulations girls you deserve it, you hung in there all season long, played hard and came up big when you had to!

Heat Advance to Championship Round 

The Heat move on to the Championship round after a hard fought 4-1 victory over The Thunder Wednesday night.
The Heat had five hits in the first four innings, but managed only one run in the second when Alexis H singled in Kayleigh who had reached base on a double down the third base line. The Thunder battled hard playing solid"D"  and getting on the board in the fifth after back to back singles and a walk, the Heat got a double play on an infield fly doubling off the runner on second but unfortunately a runner scored. The Heat turned it on in the home 5th, scoring three times to put the game out of reach.
 

Alexis H hit a double with the bases-loaded knocking in two runs and Nicolette C then scored the final run in the contest on a fielder's choice. Overall, Alexis H was 2-2, single, double and 3 RBI'S, Kayleigh doubled and scored twice, Paige singled and scored, Nicolette C singled and scored a run, Brittany singled and Jayme had a single. On the hill Brittany scattered 5 hits with 7 k's and allowing only one walk. The Heat begin Championship play Saturday vs the winner of the Force vs Bandit game Thursday night.
