This is the organizational website for Camping Committee of the PHILADELPHIA FOLK FESTIVAL.
Operationally the Philadelphia Folk Festival is put on by a just about all-volunteer organization consisting of many committees and the Camping Committee is one of them.
In the campground adjacent to the different stages that provide the great music the festival is known for, the Camping Committee offers tent and vehicular camping in a festive and safe environment for literally thousands of happy campers. Both individual campers and families, return year after year to have a great time. I liken this to a refugee camp - but one where people want to be!
The PHILADELPHIA FOLK SONG SOCIETY, sponsors this weekend of great music that takes place near Schwenksville, PA on the Old Poole Farm in Upper Salford Township. See the MAPS page for directions. This year's Fest will be the 51st occurrence of this great event so mark your calendars now and put in for your vacation early. If your campsite has a website, let us know the address and we will post it on our Links page. Send your submission to: Pete Schechner at pschechner@verizon.net Be sure to check out the ones we have posted there already.

Vehicular Camping
Vehicular Camping Division of the Camping Committee is run by Steve Gregg. Steve along with his right hand man Mike Belgie and their volunteers shoe horn every possible Camper, Pop Up and other uniquely Folk Fest type of camping vehicle into the Campground that wants to be there. If they want to stay on the Triangele, they do that to!
All camping vehicles must be securely chocked - no if and or butts.
Any campers bringing in Propane tanks for cooking or heat have them checked and cerified prior to arrival on site;
Any Vehicular Camping vehicles have both a working fire extinguisher and working smoke detector in their vehicle while they are on site.
The check and certification can be done anywhere propane is actually sold, and not just exchanged. The second are relatively inexpensive and can be found anywhere hardware is sold. They do make models specifically for RV's, but any kind will do.

Listed on the Field page of our website, you will find the current job descriptions for our Crew Chief and Foot Volunteer. New volunteers to Camping generally start as Foot volunteers, unless they are directly recruited by divisional Supervisors or Senior Supervisors.
Though these positions exist in other Camping Divisions, we have listed the information on the Field page as this is where the majority of these types of volunteers are found.
Just click on the Hot News image to be taken to the Field page.
