This is the organizational website for Camping Committee of the PHILADELPHIA FOLK FESTIVAL.

Operationally the Philadelphia Folk Festival is put on by a just about all-volunteer organization consisting of many committees and the Camping Committee is one of them.

In the campground adjacent to the different stages that provide the great music the festival is known for, the Camping Committee offers tent and vehicular camping in a festive and safe environment for literally thousands of happy campers. Both individual campers and families, return year after year to have a great time. I liken this to a refugee camp - but one where people want to be!

The PHILADELPHIA FOLK SONG SOCIETY, sponsors this weekend of great music that takes place near Schwenksville, PA on the Old Poole Farm in Upper Salford Township. See the MAPS page for directions.  This year's Fest will be the 52nd occurrence of this great event so mark your calendars now and put in for your vacation early.  If your campsite has a website, let us know the address and we will post it on our Links page. Send your submission to: Pete Schechner at Be sure to check out the ones we have posted there already.

Camping Committe Presents a Fundraising Concert to Benefit the Philadelphia Folksong Society

We are pleased to announce a benefit concert organized by us for the benefit of the Philadelphia Folksong Society on Sunday, March 30th.  As you know the Philadelphia Folksong Society puts on our great Festival every August but that is not all.

  • They also do seasonal retreats like the Spring Thing and Fall Fling.

  • They have teamed up with partnering organizations around Philadelphia to create the Philadelphia Music Co-Op, which offers showcase, networking, promotion, gig booking, and distribution opportunities to a lot of upcoming artists in the area.

  • They also run the Odyssey program.  This program sends professional folk musicians to Delaware Valley public, private and parochial schools who request the program to enhance the teaching of our culture and history through music. Working with teachers, artists present programs that enrich and compliment classroom studies.  Check out this video,

The winter months are lean for the Society and only the bills keep coming in and they can really use our support to raise some much needed cash.

To help with this we have organized this benefit concert.  We have 5 great bands that have given their time to perform for the cause!  The venue is the Ardmore Music Hall, doors open 4:30 PM, music starts at 5:30, show ends at 10:00 PM.  You must be 21 or over as they serve alcohol.

The bands for the evening are (click the names to access music they have online):

Hobo Pie

TJ McGlinchey

Boris Garcia

Tickets are $15 if purchased in advance, $20 at the door.  If you need to purchase tickets by cash, you can stop by the Philadelphia Folksong Society office on Emlen Street in Philly, otherwise do it online by credit card and print the tickets at home (if you can't print tickets, go to PFS Office and pay cash to avoid processing fee).

Go to the following page to purchase tickets,

If you are on Facebook, you may be able to access this event,!/events/581267685283629/?ref_dashboard_filter=upcoming

This should be a great evening, these bands are well known at the Fest and throughout the Campground. At $15 a seat, that is bang for your buck.  The Ardmore Music Hall is great place for music, super bar and they serve food as well.  They have a have a Mediterranean menu, here is a link:

So come on out and support the Folksong Society, I look forward to seeing you there!
