Camping
Camp Iyataka offers both developed and primitive camping areas. Developed sites (sites 1-11) have covered shelters, picnic tables, pit privies, and fire rings. Sites 12-15 are primitive sites most with fire rings and picnic tables at this time. While most campsites are located on the lower level, next to the lake, there are several excellent campsites on the upper level, located just north of the Lodge. Rural water became available on November 5th, 2005 and is located in front of the lodge and on the south end of camp along the road. These are outdoor hydrants that are locked, but the gate key will open them. Firewood is very abundant, with many woodpiles located throughout the camp.
Popular activities at the camp include fishing, hiking, canoeing or boating, and exploring the network of trails criss-crossing the property.
Much of the camp is heavily wooded, with abundant resources for lashing and pioneering projects.
For those interested in nature, the camp abounds with many species of trees, shrubs, wildflowers, and other vegetation . The camp is also home to deer, rabbit, wild turkeys, pheasants, hawks, and more.
For those interested in area-wide activities or games, there are two large beaches on the lower level, and several large open areas on the upper levels.

Gail Ann Hauck Lodge
The Gail Ann Hauck Winter Lodge features many conveniences seldom found at most Scout camps. The facility, heated by both wood and electricity, features a kitchen area with a range, refrigerator, two microwaves, two large electric roasters, two large coffee makers, an electric fry pan, a 2.5 qt. crock pot, and enough other cooking utensils to turn out a gourmet meal for a troop. Youll have to supply your own food, dishes, and eating utensils.
The Lodge has two youth sleeping rooms with 9 bunks each, and two smaller adult sleeping rooms with 6 bunks each. Another sleeping room at the rear of the nearby service building is available and sleeps 5. None of the bunks have mattresses, so plan to bring your own sleeping pad or air mattress.
Once again, rural water is available at two sites at the camp - in front of Gail Hauk Lodge and at the bend in the road on the south end of the lower camping area. The key to the front gate will be needed to access water at both hydrants. Units will need to bring water containers. Wastewater from the kitchen sink will continue to be disposed of in a designated wastewater sump area north of the Lodge. Sanitary facilities consist of pit privies, located throughout the camp.
In the center of the lodge is a dining/activity area. The Lodges folding tables and chairs can be arranged to accommodated any size group, or for any activity. Theres also a game cabinet in the corner with cards, board games, and picture puzzles. There is now a TV with a DVD/VHS player in the activity area, a new ping pong table (donated by the Iyatonka Chapter of the Order of the Arrow).
Flood lights have been installed on the sledding/tubbing hill. The light switch is located outside on the north side of the Gail Hauck Lodge. Please be sure to turn out these lights when you are finished sledding in the evening hours.
