| Let's not forget that Cambridge Little League Players are boys and girls who are trying to learn the game of baseball and have some fun.
Our goals are to promote the enjoyment of the game, fair play, sportsmanship, tolerance, respect and self-esteem through proper conduct, example and instruction. A win-at-all-costs attitude is not required, nor will it be tolerated.
Any coach, player, parent or fan using profane and negative language, unnecessary roughness, violent conduct or deliberately throwing equipment will be ejected from the game. This is unacceptable behavior and will be subject to disciplinary action by the Board.
"Mud thrown is ground lost."
-- Louis Nizer, American Lawyer, 1902-1994

- Only the use of positive reinforcement is considered appropriate.
- Promote honesty, teamwork, fair play and responsibility.
- Treat your players with dignity and respect regardless of their athletic ability. Reward their efforts, more than their skills.
- Encourage and motivate your players with patient and positive talk. Be a good role model. Do not let your players get down on themselves.
- Help your players to improve their athletic skills, their knowledge of the game, their physical condition, their ability to control their emotions and their self-esteem.
- Teach your players how to win gracefully, and how to handle the disappointment of losing.
- Encourage your players to strive to do their best.
- Remind them at all times to be respectful of their teammates and their opponents.
- Although there may be circumstances which warrant discipline of a player, a coach must still respect the player and treat him or her with dignity. If further action is required, the parent will be asked to remove his child from the field.
- Do not permit attacks of any kind by your coaches, players, or parents and fans on the umpire, the other coaches, or any players.
- Do not challenge judgment calls by the umpire. It is acceptable to challenge the interpretation of a rule, but only in a courteous non-confrontational manner.
- Do not play any player who is over age, not registered, sick or injured. Never put a player in harm's way. Ensure they are using and wearing the proper equipment. Your player's well-being and safety are priority #1.
- Report any incident that may violate any rule or standard of conduct or reflect adversely on the League to the board.
- Make every effort to play all of your players more then the minimum playing requirements. Try to let everyone have a chance to start a game and play both infield and outfield positions. Let some of the less talented infield players, play the infield when every possible.
- Keep your ego out of coaching and try to make the experience interesting, enriching and fun.
- Be on time for practices and games, with all your equipment and in full uniform for games. Tuck your shirt in. Don't forget your water bottle! If you are going to be absent, let your coach know ahead of time.
- Never wear shorts or jewelry to games and practices. Always wear an athletic support. Otherwise, you might hurt yourself.
- Play fairly and follow the rules. Try your best. Always be alert. Have fun!
- Be honest, fair and do the right the thing.
- Think before you act, take responsibility for your actions and keep your promises.
- Support, respect and cooperate with your teammates and coaches.
- Be courteous to the umpires, the other team and its coaches. Always be polite and positive, never argue.
- Bad and negative language, violent behavior and fighting are not allowed. If there is a problem, tell your coach.
- A player who maliciously runs into another player is to be declared out (unless he/she has scored prior to the infraction) and is to be automatically ejected (whether or not declared out). Contact shall be considered malicious if:
- The contact is the result of intentional excessive force, and/or,
- There is intent to injure.
- Cheering during a game should be for encouraging your teammates, not against the other team.
- When the game is finished, before you leave, pick up all garbage and put it in the trash can. Help your coach put away the team's equipment. Thank your coaches. Collect all your equipment and personal belongings.
- Try to ensure your child arrives at least 15 minutes prior to a game or practice, or according to the coach's instructions.
- Never leave your child alone without warning the coach or asking another parent present to look over his or her welfare.
- When attending games or practices, please park in appropriate location, not on sidewalks. Please respect our parks and neighbors. Drive carefully at all times. Beware of young children in the vicinity.
- You must respect and support all players, the coaches and the umpires. Never belittle or shout negative remarks to anyone. Foul and abusive language and conduct are strictly prohibited by anyone.
- Rooting should be for your team, not against the opposing team. Trash talk, taunting and negative rooting are not acceptable, regardless of the unsportsmanlike conduct of opposing players or coaches.
- Only the coach should question an umpire's call relating to the proper interpretation of a rule. Judgment calls should not be questioned. Parents and fans shall refrain from outbursts against the umpire.
- Parents and fans should respect the proper requests made of them by the coaches and umpires.
- Always put garbage in the trash cans. Encourage your children to do the same. When leaving the park, ensure everything has been picked up and nothing is left behind, including trash.
- Parents and fans should inform a member of the board of any improper conduct of a coach. Feedback is an important consideration for us when assessing the quality of our coaches and ensuring the well-being of all registered players. We rely on you to report any serious issues, infractions and to share constructive comments. All reports will be kept confidential and should be e-mailed to any Board Member or go to the Suggestion Box
