Cambrian Park Little League: Tryouts

Kids in the 5 and 6 age group usually do not participate in tryouts as they are placed on TEE BALL teams by the division director.
AGE 5 EXCEPTION: Players currently league age 5 who played last year in tee ball (as a 4 year old with CPLL) may tryout for the minor "A" division (machine pitch) at a special tryout hosted by the player agent on SATURDAY, JANUARY 17, 2008 at 3:00 PM (Steindorf School A/AA "old farm" field at 3001 Ross Ave at Foxworthy Ave). Please send a quick e-mail (by appointment only) to Info@CPLLBaseball.org to let us know you will be attending. Tryout session will take approximately 45 minutes.

After a brief warm-up, 5 and 6 year old player candidates will field three (3) grounders and throw to a coach; field three (3) fly balls from the outfield and throw to coach; receive three (3) tosses from a coach or "machine pitch" to swing at and sprint to first base after the third pitch (regardless if contact has been made).

Kids in the league age 7 group usually do not participate in tryouts as they are placed on MINOR A teams by the division director.
AGE 7 EXCEPTION: Players league age 7 who played last year in tee ball or minor "A" division and believe they have exceptional skill may tryout for the minor "AA" division (coach and player pitch) during the same dates/times as the 8 year-olds (see story below). Players must attend a minimum of 1 (preferably 2) tryout dates. Please send a quick e-mail to Info@CPLLBaseball.org to let us know you will be attending.

Player candidates league age 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12 are required to tryout. Please be prompt and check-in each day at the STEINDORF school baseball snack shack for your official tryout number. Remember you must attend at least one (1) tryout date (2 is better if you can make it). NOTE: Tryouts do not guarantee you will play within your core age division.
SATURDAYS January 10th, 17th
Jan 24th, 2009 (if needed due to rain out the first two tryouts)
Major Diamond
12's Check-in 11:30 AM (session ends approximately 2:00 PM)
11's Check-in 1:30 AM (session ends approximately 4:00 PM)
Minor Diamond
10's Check-in 9:30 AM (session ends approximately 12:00 PM)
9's Check-in 11:30 AM (session ends approximately 2:00 PM)

8's Check-in 1:30 PM (session ends approximately 4:00 PM)
After a brief warm-up, candidates will field several grounders from the short stop position and throw to first base; field several fly balls from left field and throw to second base; receive three to five (3~5) pitches live from the pitching coach to swing at and sprint the bases after the third pitch (regardless if you make contact). Candidates will also "pitch" three (3) balls at a target (this is an optional station).
*** 10's who wish to play up (11's) will need to register with the 11's slot - check in at 1:30 PM
*** 8's who wish to play up (9's) will need to register with the 9's slot - check in at 11:30 AM
*** 7's who wish to play up (8's) will need to register with the 8's slot - check in at 1:30 PM

Player candidates league age 13, 14, 15 and 16 are required to tryout. Please be prompt and check-in each day at the IDA PRICE baseball snack shack for your official tryout number. Remember you must attend at least one (1) tryout date, 2 is better if you can make it.

After a brief warm-up and stretch, candidates will field three (3) grounders; field three (3) fly balls; receive several pitches from the pitching coach.
