Age Exceptions

League Age 5
Kids at this baseball league age shall play in our tee ball program, hitting a soft baseball off a tee stand.  These players do not try out.

Kids born in 2001 during the months of May, June, July AND who have played one year in CPLL’s tee ball program may challenge to play UP one level (minor league - division “A” machine pitch) by participating in a “special tryout” hosted by the player agent.  The player agent shall observe player candidates at this tryout and determine which players will advance to the minor “A” level of play.  Player agent decision is final.  To reserve space at the special tryout session parents must indicate “A” division level request at time of online registration OR send an e-mail to the TryoutCoordinator5@CPLLBaseball.org.


League Age 6
Kids at this baseball league age typically play in our tee ball program, hitting a soft baseball off a tee stand.  These players do not try out unless they desire to play up one level.

Kids who have played one year in CPLL’s tee ball program may challenge to play UP one level (minor league - division “A” machine pitch) by participating in a “special tryout” hosted by the player agent.  The player agent shall observe player candidates at this tryout and determine which players will advance to the minor “A” level of play.  Player agent decision is final.  To reserve space at the special tryout session for 6 year olds parents must indicate “A” division level request at time of online registration OR send an e-mail to the TryoutCoordinator6@CPLLBaseball.org.


League Age 7
Kids at this baseball league age typically play at the minor league - division “A” level (machine pitch).  These player candidates do not try out unless they desire to play up one level.

Kids who desire to play UP one level (minor league - division “AA”- coach and player pitch) may challenge by participating in a minimum of 2 tryouts (3 is better) during the same dates/times as the 8 year olds.  Parents must indicate “AA” division level request at time of online registration OR send an e-mail request to the TryoutCoordinator7@CPLLBaseball.orgin order to reserve space at the 8 year old tryouts.  Players must be drafted in order to play up at this level.

Kids who desire to play DOWN one level (tee ball program) are rare exceptions.  Parents must indicate “tee ball” division level request at time of online registration OR send an e-mail request to the TryoutCoordinator7@CPLLBaseball.org.  Player agent decision is final.


League Age 8
Kids at this baseball league age typically play at the minor league - division “AA” level (coach and player pitch).  These candidates are required to attend a minimum of 2 tryouts (3 is better).

Kids who desire to play UP one level (minor league – division “AAA”- player pitch) are rare exceptions and may challenge by participating in a minimum of 2 tryouts (3 is better) during the same dates/times as the 9 year olds.  Please indicate this division level request at time of online registration OR send an e-mail request to the TryoutCoordinator8@CPLLBaseball.orgin order to request space at the 9 year old tryouts.  Player candidates must be drafted in order to play up at this level.

Kids who desire to play AT the minor league – division “A” machine pitch) must indicate their division level request at time of online registration OR e-mail their request to the TryoutCoordinator8@CPLLBaseball.org.  Tryouts are still required.  Player agent decision is final.


League Age 9
Kids at this baseball league age typically play at the minor league - division “AAA” level (player pitch).  These candidates are required to attend a minimum of 2 tryouts (3 is better).  NOTE:  Player candidates who do not attend the minimum number of tryouts will not be eligible for the minor league – division “AAA” level.

Kids who desire to play AT the minor league – division “AA” level must indicate their division level request at time of online registration OR e-mail their request to the TryoutCoordinator9@CPLLBaseball.org.  Tryouts are still required.  Player agent decision is final.


League Age 10
Kids at this baseball league age typically play at the minor league - division “AAA” level (player pitch).  These candidates are required to attend a minimum of 2 tryouts (3 is better).

Kids who desire to play UP one level (major league level) are rare exceptions and may challenge by participating in a minimum of 2 tryouts (3 is better) during the same dates/times as the 11 year olds.  Parents must indicate their division level request at time of online registration OR send an e-mail request to the TryoutCoordinator10@CPLLBaseball.orgin order to request space at the 11 year old tryouts.  Player candidates must be drafted in order to play up at the major league level otherwise they will be placed in the minor league – division “AAA” draft.

Kids who desire to play DOWN one level (minor league – division “AA” level) are rare exceptions.  Parents must indicate their division level request at time of online registration OR send an e-mail request to the TryoutCoordinator10@CPLLBaseball.org.  Tryouts are still required.  Player agent decision is final.


League Age 11
Kids at this baseball league age typically play at the major league level.  These candidates are required to attend a minimum of 2 tryouts (3 is better).  Player candidates must be drafted in order to play at the major league level.  Players' league age 11 not drafted to the major league will be placed in the minor league – division “AAA” level.

Kids who desire to play DOWN one level (minor league – division “AAA” level) are considered exceptions.  Parents must indicate their division level request at time of online registration OR send an e-mail request to the TryoutCoordinator11@CPLLBaseball.org.  Tryouts are still required.  Player agent decision is final.


League Age 12
Kids at this baseball league age play at the major league level.  These candidates are required to attend a minimum of 2 tryouts (3 is better).  Players' league age 12 not drafted to play at the major league level will placed in the minor league – division “AAA” level.


League Age 13
Player candidates at this baseball league age play at the junior league level.  These candidates are required to attend 1 tryout (2 is better).


League Age 14
Player candidates at this baseball league age typically play at the junior league level.  These candidates are required to attend 1 tryout (2 is better).

Kids who desire to play UP one level (senior league level) are rare exceptions and may challenge by participating in 1 tryout (2 is better) during the same dates/times as the 15 year olds.  Parents must indicate their division level request at time of online registration OR send an e-mail request to the TryoutCoordinator15@CPLLBaseball.orgin order to request space at the 15 year old tryouts.  Player candidates must be drafted in order to play up at the senior league level.
