CALIFORNIA THUNDER girls fastpitch softball is a class "A" travel ball/ Premier organization that focuses on the development of our young ladies in the sport of fastpitch softball. The CALIFORNIA THUNDER organization is committed to teaching and developing the physical and mental skills necessary for our athletes to succeed the collegiate level. We encourage our girls to pursue their dreams in the sport of softball by taking their game to the highest level possible. They are encouraged to excel in athletics and especially in the classroom. The THUNDER environment is both positive and constructive with much discipline in an effort to get the most from our athletes.
The CALIFORNIA THUNDER organization consists of 8 Teams: one (1) 18 gold team, one (1) 18a team, one (1) 16u team, two (2) 14u teams ('97& '98), two (2) 12U teams ('99 &'00) and one (1) 10u team. The goal of every age eligible team within the CALIFORNIA THUNDER organization is to qualify for and play in the Premier National Tournament or the ASA/USA National Tournament. Many of our players have moved through the age group ranks in our program and obtained scholarships through our 18 Gold program.
The CALIFORNIA THUNDER organization is under the direction and guidance of VALERIE VAN KIRK-LeVier, an ASA All American, ASA National Champion (3x) and Cal State Fullerton NCAA Div. I National Champion. Also, a former USA National Team player. She is assisted by her husband Mark LeVier, the Head Coach of this team who was an 18 Gold Coach with Thunder from 2001-2003 until he began coaching the Boston Red Sox Scout Baseball Team. He has now retired from baseball and brought his expertise back to the game of Softball.
***We appreciate the support from all those who are assisting these athletes in their pursuit of their athletic and academic dreams! They could not do it without you.

About Cal Thunder '97
We focus on team building and teaching the game of softball without any assumptions. Our team will practice in the Covina area. We will have one weekday practice and weekday conditioning. On weekends we will practice when we do not play in 16u Friendlies or 16u SHOWCASE Tournaments. There will be some weekends where we have long practices primarily between 9 am-2 pm. The schedule is currently TENTATIVE and a work in progress.
Travel softball is a huge sacrifice and commitment to be successful both individually and as a team. Please be prepared to work hard, develop and improve. In an effort to compete, we desire families who are willing to make the commitments necessary to support and ensure their child's success.
