Welcome to the California Thunder 16U website!!!  

If you are an experienced and dedicated softball player looking to join an organization that will help you to develop your skills to collegiate levels, the California Thunder organization could be the place for you.  

The California Thunder organization is managed by Valerie VanKirk, a former ASA All American and Cal State Fullerton Alum.   Valerie has over 30 years of experience in the ASA, NCAA Div 1 and the professional levels.   

California Thunder fields teams in the 12U, 14U and 16U divisions, developing players who might eventually be promoted to one of the organization’s two 18 Gold teams.  One of the 18 Gold teams is coached by Valerie VanKirk, the other by Joe Vargas.   Both have extensive experience, resources and an established record for helping talented players to achieve their college scholarship goals.  The “Thunder Teams” link on this page will take you to the websites of our other teams. 

Our 16U team is very active.  Our girls love to practice, love to play….. and we do plenty of both.  Practice sessions are tough and are often combined with the players and coaches of one of our 18 Gold teams.                

Travel ball teams are always looking for talent.  We are no exception.  If you are an experienced player seriously considering a change, you will be welcomed at one of our practice sessions.  Please contact Coach Tony to make arrangements.
