Welcome to California Mirage ELITE 18U
The original California Mirage - 2006 NSA National World Series Champions - welcomes you! We are now entering our 6th travel ball season of existence. California Mirage Elite is already AFA Nationals and NSA Nationals-Qualified for 2009. Team Mirage looks forward to continue representing the City of Walnut and Walnut Youth Softball well in the 2008/2009 season as we take on the best travel teams in Southern California in the 18U division.
California Mirage Elite's mission goal continues to be to provide our wonderful, young ladies a solid platform from which to embark on their future college softball careers. Our team platform is built on the 3 core "F's"; Faith, Family and Friendship. Team Mirage has set its sights on the near future as we endeavor to provide each of our players a solid softball foundation. Combined with solid grades in high school, a solid travel ball career will set up an individual player for recruitment to college. Team Mirage is proud to afford a chance for each and every one of our special young ladies to further their education and their softball careers. With a good mixture of 12th, 11th & 10th graders, Team Mirage will do what is needed this season to begin showcasing our fine young players in preparation for college.
California Mirage Elite's home base is Suzanne Park in the beautiful city of Walnut. We are proud to show off our home field, one of the nicer facilities in the San Gabriel Valley! With California Mirage Elite...

California Mirage Elite is the AFA Back to School Tourney Champion!!!
California Mirage Elite, sporting a new, revamped roster showed this past weekend that the future is indeed bright. After losing a tough opener 1-0 on an unearned run, the Ladies of Mirage went undefeated the rest of the way, with our young pitching staff allowing ZERO runs on Championship Sunday, our offense blasting bombs and our defense turning double play after double play all weekend long to bring home first place in the AFA Back to School Qualifier.
It was a total team effort, with key participation by every player on the roster. It is exciting to see that things should only get better with the type of players we now have. Kudos go out to all our wonderful players;

Mirage Elite goes 3-1 at City of Lights Showcase
The Ladies of California Mirage Elite continued strong with a 3-1 record at the City of Lights Showcase in Las Vegas. After starting off with a less than stellar effort in a 2-0 loss to LV Konnexxion (we left 7 runners in scoring position with less than two outs over the four innings played), our team rebounded and outscored the Oregon Red Heat, So Cal Diamonds and CT Eliminators by a combined score of 21-6 over the final three games.
This showcase offered a great format for our players and prospective college coaches to meet and get to know each other. Our four juniors who participated really took advantage of it and really impressed during the exhibition games as well as the games played with their own team. Our sophomores also stepped it up and we are sure some caught people's attention with the way they played.
Keep or start the letters going to anyone who showed interest.

Mirage Elite Continues Undefeated run at Lancaster Oktoberfest
Momentum... the Ladies of Mirage Elite carried a lot of it into the Lancaster Oktoberfest and it showed as they continued an undefeated streak through 5 hard-fought games. The results netted were 4 wins, NO losses and one tie. Our pitching staff notched two more shutouts and the Mirage Elite offense really woke up with 24 runs scored throughout the weekend. Our team faced different adversity and prevailed throughout. We are a bit banged up and some of our players are on the shelf, but we never used it as an excuse. Our wonderful young players simply showed up and played some very solid fastpitch softball all weekend long.

California Mirage Elite Goes undefeated at Southwest Showdown!
The Ladies of California Mirage ELITE travelled to Las Vegas and went undefeated at the Southwest Showdown Showcase with a record of 3 wins, no losses and two ties. Our wonderful pitching staff was very impressive, allowing only two unearned runs over the entire 5-game Showcase. Mirage ELITE also flexed its muscles at the plate, launching 4 homeruns over the fence. Devon and Crytal launched two rockets over the left-field fence. Jessica went the other way with her blast and Stephanie hit a mammoth shot to straightaway center field. We also just missed on a handful of others as we rattled the outfield fence on a consistent basis.
We are back home, hopefully mending from the wear and tear as we prepare for our next showcase in Lancaster.

California Mirage Elite goes 5-1 at Best of the West Showcase
The ladies of California Mirage Elite enjoyed a very productive and impressive weekend in Palmdale at the Best of the West Showcase. Our young team rolled to a strong 5-1 record (officially 5-0, but we took on an extra game for a team that didn't show up), outscoring our opponents 31-8. We showed consistency throughout and even more important, we showed the ability to bounce back from adversity as a team. Kudos go out to our entire team as all facets of our game were clicking almost all weekend long.
We are building positive momentum as we head into a very busy showcase period.

This Week We Prepare for...
It was another tough weekend at Fallbrook where the The Ladies of Team Mirage showed some flashes of brilliance and then sputtered in some key situations. Our pitching staff pitched A LOT better than our 2-3 record would indicate. Our time off due to injury slowed our momentum from October and we will need to work hard when we return to rebuild that consistency. Looking back at our Fall and Winter season so far, our team has had to endure roster changes through no fault of their own or our won/loss record. Even so, we are pleased with the strides we have continued to make and we appear poised to make a nice impact in January, February and the coming summer season.
The coaching philosophy put in place is a winning one and it has already paid dividends out on the field as our very young team has posted 22 wins, 8 losses and 3 ties since they came together in September. We were good enough to garner a berth and chempionship in the first tournament we entered and we had tremendous showings at our first 4 showcases. Our pitching staff continues to prove it is good enough to keep us in every game we have played. The coaching staff is very excited about what the near future holds for our young team. Keep up the hard work ladies.
We will be taking December off. Please stay tuned for news about our Holiday Party projected for the 12th and for the start of practices towards the end of the month.
Ladies, let's regain our momentum and always keep in mind that it all starts at our practice - what you put into it will definitely show up the following weekend.
