California Flames is a competitive travel softball organization. We are proud to represent the Southern California ASA, AFA and USSSA assocations in Burbank, California.
The California Flames has been in existence since 1999. Our first generation California Flames 10u transition to 18u Gold in 2007. In 2008 the original 1999 California Flames 10u now attend colleges through-out the USA. For available recruits for 2010 & 2011 please visit our 18u Gold College News Page
Our second generation 2009 California Flames 10u will transition to 18u Gold by 2015. Our team goal is to attain maximum college exposure for each FLAME player. A FLAME player is one that is determined, dedicated and focused on being a team player. She is a player that strives to be the best that she can be on and off the softball field. At the same time she is an individual that strives to excel in the classroom as well.

THINK LIKE A CHAMPION
Some champions are born and some champions are made. A champion may be someone who always places first in competition. A champion may be someone who comes out on top, overcomes obstacles and beats the odds. An amazing athlete is someone who performs at their personal best because of the amount of training they've endured, the sacrifices they've made and the focus they had to have to get where they are.
Champions think big. Champions work toward big goals. Champions are focused. Champions are disciplined. Champions think like champions. And the one thing that all champions have in common - they have the mind-set of a champion - they want to win, they want to be the best - they all have THE EYE OF THE TIGER!!

HOW DO YOU SPELL SUCCESS?
 |
|
Some say success is difficult to define. As a coach, success is having former players come back to visit me years later to share their college experiences, or to tell me their success in reaching a particular goal or just to reminisce about the good times past. It is this constant feedback that helps me to define or redefine my yearly approach with my most valuable charge, your children.
To me, success is made up of many things. Two of these are truth and the real meaning of athletics. As we know all too well, very few athletes go on to greater rewards in the sports arena. When they leave to go about their daily lives, they need tools to guide them, tools that will follow them through the rest of their lives. What they take from the athletic arena most often is directly related to what we, as coaches, have given them during our brief association.
Winning games seems to be the sole measure of success for many people. However, my definition of success is not confined to “the final victory.” For if it were, there would be an enormous number of unsuccessful teams since there is only one winner at the final moment of truth.
Do I believe that losing games mean the Flames is an unsuccessful team? No, not at all. My Flames will never give in to defeat. They’ll fight the battle hard to the very end. I can best compare my Flames to Champions. Champions know how to handle losing better than the average competitor. When they lose, they will not become distracted or demoralized. Instead, they turn the loss to their advantage by learning from it. This is a valuable life lesson.
Parents, please remember that a loss does not define our little athletes. Rather, it teaches them what not to do the next time around. We will continue to inspire our Flames to never give up. It is this mental skill we wish to accomplish. For if they don’t give up, just keep trying, staying focused and challenging the obstacles, they will then execute the skills necessary to win games.
I would like my Flames to have a sense of accomplishment knowing they have done their very best job .I would want them to play hard knowing they can learn from their mistakes and apply these lessons to the next game and subsequently to their life. Finally, I want them to enjoy what there are doing, to look forward to every practice and every game.
My final measure of success is very simple. If your child is crying at the end of the season not wanting it to end, then the season was a success. If she can’t wait for the season to be over, it has been a failure. No other criteria comes to mind. It's not about wins. It's about mastering the physical and mental skills which result in wins. Success on the field will continue to translate to success throughout their lives. It is my sincere hope parents support and encourage their child in this, my philosophy of coaching.

"Hi Linda, What a great game tonight, thanks for your love of the game the girls are getting better and that's all I see in the dugout
Elsa Jimenez"

"Thanks Linda. We really do appreciate your and the coaches efforts.
Jenna is now getting a level of coaching she's yet to have had in the past. I agree that having lessons is fine when a dad is the manager, but now that she's got you, Daisy, Shannon and Jessica, you can see what she does different in games vs practice/cages and help her get better "between the lines."
Bob Aholt"

"Thats why they learn so much, because they have a coach who loves the game as much as the girls and who sees beyond just teaching. Thanks Linda for all you do. Your the best!
