A Safety Awareness Program (ASAP)

Publications, forms and information about ASAP for 2016 can be found by clicking on the hearder above.

Some of the required forms are in the handouts section.

2016 ASAP Information: Information and materials to facilitate the 2016 A Safety Awareness Program (ASAP) are currently available online at the Little League website.

  • As Safety Officers complete the 2016 ASAP plan for their leagues, they are reminded that a copy of the plan is to be mailed to Little League International (539 U.S. Route 15 Highway, Williamsport, Pa., 17701-0485) along with the 2016 Qualified Safety Program Regulation form. Districts and leagues will be notified about a new online submission process early in 2016. The deadline for Districts to complete the process regarding the District monetary incentive for early local league participation is Friday, March 11. The deadline for local leagues not participating in the District incentive is April 1, 2016. E-mail submission of plans will NOT be accepted.
  • Game Site Selection for Tournament Play: If your district intends to host any Little League International Tournament games above the district level, by Little League Tournament rule, the host league must have an approved ASAP plan. Also remember that ASAP plans must be implemented before the season starts in order to qualify as an approved plan for the current year.

ASAP Requirements Reminder

ASAP Requirements Reminder: In 2014, 87 percent of all local Little League® programs participated in ASAP. To expand educational opportunities for your leagues and avoid serious liability due to their non-compliance, Little League offers these reminders:

  • At least one regular-season coach from each team must annually attend fundamental coaching and first-aid training. Also each manager or coach must attend a coaching and first-aid training every three years to be eligible to manage or coach.
  • Little League regulations require that all managers, coaches and practice coaches complete an annual volunteer application. The League President is responsible for annually nominating managers and coaches who are then approved by the Board. If an individual is placed in a position to assist at practice without having been subject to these requirements, then the league is exposed to a serious liability situation. These same expectations include any other volunteers who may have regular service or repetitive access and/or contact with the team.
  • League officials, managers, coach and umpires are strongly encouraged to review the concussion laws in their state on the Little League website and also review the Center for Disease Control (CDC) information and take the concussion training on the CDC site. The same groups of volunteers also should review the child abuse information on the Little League website to familiarize themselves.
