See article below from The Seattle Times.

Young goaltender debuts for T-birds
By Steve Turcotte

Special to The Seattle Times

Welcome to the Western Hockey League, Jacob DeSerres.

The Seattle Thunderbirds introduced the 15-year-old goaltender to the WHL on Saturday night at KeyArena — and it was a night that DeSerres will store forever in his hockey memory bank.

DeSerres stopped 22 shots and helped the Thunderbirds to a 3-1 victory over Prince Albert as he made his WHL debut in style. Not bad for someone who was playing just a few days ago for the Calgary Buffaloes in the Alberta Minor Hockey League.

"I just looked at it like any other game," said DeSerres, who played well during the T-birds' training camp. "Once I got that first tough save out of the way, it was a lot easier."

DeSerres was picked by the Thunderbirds in the third round of the 2005 WHL Bantam draft. He has spent the season playing in Calgary, but was brought up this week for the Thunderbirds to take a look.

So far, so good.

The timing for DeSerres to get a start in the Thunderbird goal was perfect. Starting goaltender Bryan Bridges is out with an injured ankle and backup Gavin McHale played Friday in Spokane and will go again tonight against Kootenay (5:05 p.m. at KeyArena). DeSerres will get the opportunity to play five games with the Thunderbirds (12-7-1-3) this season before heading back to Calgary.

"We expected him to play well," said Seattle coach Rob Sumner of DeSerres. "He didn't look nervous — he was calm and it showed in his play on the ice."

DeSerres stopped every shot he faced until Prince Albert went on the power play midway through the third period. He couldn't get a handle on a shot from Ryan DePare at 10:58 as Prince Albert cut the Seattle lead to 2-1.

The Thunderbirds, 7-3 in their last 10 games, are one point behind both Everett and Portland in the U.S. Division.

Titans celebrate Corbin's birthday at Hooters
After their game today, the boys along with a few dedicated dads retired to Hooters at West Edmonton Mall, to celebrate Corbin's 13th Birthday.
The ladies helped Corbin celebrate by singing to him and signing autographs. Corbin took it all in his stride.
Don't forget the 9.30pm curfew boys.

Friday, May 30
Titans tie first game in NAA Tournament
In what was game of constantly changing momentum, the Titans came from behind in the 3rd period to tie the Red Deer Rustlers with a score of 4 each.
Red Deer were full value in this game that saw them come from a 2 - 1 deficit, to pull ahead 4 - 3 late in the second period.
The boys will now face the strong NASH team, that some of you will remember, beat the Titans in the final of this tournament last year.
NASH beat the Southern Alberta Firehawks 6 - 1 in their first game.
The Titans will need nothing short of a win against NASH, if they want to qualify for the Finals on Sunday.

Team World dominates in skills......
Team World dominated Team North America in the 2nd Annual Titans skills competition today.
Team World won the Speed Skating Relay, the Hardest Shot, the Individual Speed Skating and the 3 on 3. Team North America won the individual showdown and the Accuracy competition was a tie.
Fastest individual skater was Justin D. and the hardest shot came from CD.
Everyone was a winner when it came to the prizes, as every Titan received a T-shirt (Western Explosives), a pair of sunglasses (AARC), and candy.
After the Skills competition the team made its way over to AARC in SE Calgary, where it was fed a great BBQ, and listened to a presentation
on Drug and Alcohol addiction from Dr. Dean Vause.
The team thanks Dr. Vause for his generosity in feeding the team, and making the boys and their parents aware of the great work of AARC.
Find out more about AARC by checking their website, under links on this site.

By virtue of a couple of excellent wins today, the Titans won the Consolation "A" Final in the Challenge Cup (see picture below). As the Final was so late, the team had to really move to make their flight back to Calgary on Monday evening, which they all did. Thanks to our opponents in the Final, the Island Stars from Victoria BC, who allowed us to play the whole game without floods.
A great weekend was had by parents and players alike, as we saw lots and did lots, as well as play 6 hockey games.

Titans leave Winnipeg with a record of 3 and 3
The Titans played the Winnipeg Junior Jets in the 4th place Consolation Final at 12.40pm today.
The boys played a strong game in front of Jake, and shut out the boys from Winnipeg with a 4 - 0 score. Jake deservedly won the MVP honors for the Titans.
Most of the team stayed on after the final to watch the mighty Ontario Blues team defeat Team Midwest by a score of 9-7.
This is fantastic hockey and our boys did us proud in winning 3 games, and even staying close in the losses.
I am sure we will be back there next year, as the organisers would like to have us back, and the players and parents alike, all had a fantastic time.
From the players banquet to the ice schedule, this tournament is carefully thought out.
Congratulations should go to Ed and Bill with the organising committee, who are machines!!!!

Titans after Jets Game

Saturday, May 11
Titans record falls to 2 - 3 - 0
In spite of a valiant effort, the Titans playing their 11th game in 8 days, lost to the big strong Manitoba Moose.
This will place them 4th in their pool, which means they will qualify for a Consolation Final against against the 4th place team in the other pool, on Sunday. Stay tuned to find out who their opponent will be.
The weather has improved in Winnipeg, so some of the parents are taking advantage of the sunny weather, by exploring the Forks area, by the river.
The boys , of course are playing a huge game of floor hockey, in a room set aside by the Tournament organisers. This is the kind of thoughtful detail that typifies this tournament.
Next social event for the team is the players banquet tonight at 8pm, where we will donate a Calgary Roughnecks jersey and some Flames autographed pictures to the Players Draw.

Titans have a record of 2 and 2 in Winnipeg.
The Titans had a tour of the Royal Canandian Mint at 10am, but then shut-out the Toronto squad 4 - 0. It was a great performance by goalie, defence and forwards.
The team then had a team meal at the Spaghetti factory in the Forks area, but could n't find enough energy to defeat the an energised Wheatland squad at 7.15pm. The Titans went down to a score of 7 -4, even though they held a lead of 2 - 0 at one point.
Next up is the host Manitoba Moose at 9am on Saturday morning.
Good luck and sleep well boys.

Thursday, May 9
Titans go 1 and 1 on Day #1 in Winnipeg
Congratulations to the boys on a great start, as they defeated Team Midwest 6-3, and lost to a powerful Detroit Honeybaked squad 7 - 2.
Next up is Toronto Pro-Development at 1.15pm on Friday.
Also tomorrow, the Titans will be taking a guided tour of The Royal Canadian Mint at 10am, and having a team meal at the Spaghetti Factory between games at 4.30pm .
The Titans second game of the day is at 7.30pm against Saskatchewan Wheatland.
The weather is terrible here in Winnipeg (blizzard), but the hockey is awesome.

Coaches
Who are those guys?

Wednesday, May 8
Titans arrive safely in Winnipeg
All of the Titans arrived at the Fairmont hotel, safe and on time. It appears that we just beat the weather, as a snow storm is forecast.
The Coaches attended the Coaches meeting at 9pm, where we found out about tournament rules etc. Also we were reminded to have the boys in the hotel lobby at 7.30pm on Saturday, to catch a bus to the players banquet. Ths is a function for Coaches and players only, where the boys will get to meet players from other teams, off the ice.
The tournament is very well organised, and win or lose, we know this will be a positive experience for the Titans.
Game #1 is tomorrow morning at 10.45am against the tough Team Midwest.
