2009 Section 7 Tournaments
Section 7 titles have all been claimed, as Rancho San Diego (District 41) hoisted the 9/10 year-old flag with a 13-3 victory over Park View on Wednesday night. Congratulations to Park View for a great run throughout the Tournaments, and a great season overall.
Sweetwater Valley outlasted Rancho San Diego (District 41) in 7 innings, winning 5-4 in the 10/11 year-old baseball division on Tuesday night. In the 11/12 year-old division, Park View outlasted Lemon Grove (District 66) with another home run barrage, 5-3. The Juniors saw Park View triumph over Twin Hills (District 66) by a 14-1 count. All three teams move on to Division III South Tournaments. In the 9/10 year-old division, Park View fought its way through the losers bracket to reach the Championship game against Rancho San Diego (District 41) on Wednesday night in Calexico. Southwest's Seniors team also had to climb through the losers bracket, but could not hold on to their lead late in the game, falling to Spring Valley (District 66) 10-8. Southwest is eliminated from Tournament play with the defeat. Congratulations to Southwest on a great season, and a great Tournament run. Congratulations to Sweetwater Valley and Park View on their Section 7 titles.
The girls softball Section Tournaments didn't quite go as planned, as the 9/10 year-olds from South Bay lost their series to North Park (District 33) two games to none. Luckie Waller's 11/12 year-old team was also swept, by Rolando (District 33) two games to none. Congratulations to both teams for a great season. Luckie Waller's Juniors softball team is gearing up for divisional play at Quartz Hill Little League in Palmdale beginning Saturday July 25 at 9:00 AM. Good luck in the Tournament ladies!
