2009 District 42 Tournaments
Our final District 42 Champion was decided on Wednesday night at Park View Little League. The 11/12 year-old crown was claimed by Park View with an 8-2 win against Sweetwater Valley. Park View staked an early 4-1 lead and escaped several Sweetwater Valley rallies to capture the flag. Park View moves on to Section 7 play, opening against District 22 at 2:00 PM on Saturday July 18 at Lemon Grove Little League. Congratulations Park View!
Two more Distrct 42 Champions were crowned Tuesday night at Park View. In the 10/11 year-old division, Eastlake took a 3-1 lead after two innings, but couldn't hold off Sweetwater Valley, who came back to claim the flag with a 7-3 win. In the Senior division, South Bay and Southwest traded the lead for several innings, until Southwest pulled away to secure the 9-4 title triumph. Congratulations to Southwest and Sweetwater Valley for their titles. Sweetwater Valley's 11/12 year-old team forced the "if" game in their division with a 10-7 win against Park View. The winner-take-all deciding game will be played Wednesday evening at 5:30 PM at Park View. Everyone come on out and support your Leagues!
The first two 2009 District 42 Champions claimed their titles on Monday night. It was a back and forth tilt in the 9/10 year-old Division. Park View jumped out to a quick lead, only to fall behind Sweetwater Valley before roaring back to win 18-8. Over in the Juniors contest, Luckie Waller came right out of the chute to take a quick four run lead before Park View's bats came alive to secure a 13-5 victory. Congratulations to both Park View teams on their victories.
