Next summer, and for the first time, the Garnet Valley Jags lacrosse program will field summer all-star teams at the U-13 and U-15 levels which will play a similar tournament schedule.  The program will be overseen by GVHS head coach Frank Urso and his staff, and will provide our BYC players a tremendous opportunity to improve their skills while learning the GVHS system.   

We believe this is an attractive option for BYC players for the following reasons:       

1) great lacrosse experience:  Jags will play in similar tournaments and offer the same opportunity to compete against the best players in our region           

2) lower cost & convenience:  no profit motive exists, so costs can be kept to a minimum and practices will be held on local fields   

3)  great coaching / prepare for future success:  the teams will build further cohesiveness from playing together in this competitive format, and utilizing the GVHS playbook with GVHS staff involvement will ensure our players are learning the critical skills and concepts they need as they prepare for the next level.     

How will it work?   

The plan is to field 2 squads:  one at the U-13 level and one at the U-15 level, though if there is enough interest we will consider fielding additional squads.  Teams will carry up to 24 players each.  The teams will switch to GV Jags colors / uniforms for the extended summer tournament season. (same uniforms will be used at all levels so will only need to be purchased one time)  Players from BYC’s U-13 & U-15 A teams selected this fall for the spring 2010 season will form the core of these squads, as described below.   

U-13 Team:  each player selected for the BYC U-13A team will receive an invitation to play on the Jags U-13 All-Star summer team, though due to vacation conflicts, family opt-outs, etc we expect to add 4-6 players from the U-13 B squads based on coach’s recommendations.   

U-15 Team:  each player selected for the BYC U-15A team will receive an invitation to play on the Jags U-15 All-Star summer team.  In addition, players from the GVHS program who are age appropriate for the U-15 level but aren’t eligible to play for BYC in the spring because they are in 9^th grade will be added based on GVHS coaching staff recommendations.

- November 22, 2009:  Pumpkin Pie tournament (West Chester, PA) 

- March 2010: pre-season tournament (Charlottesville, VA)  

- April 1 - June 7:  CCLA season 

- June 12 - July 18:  Tournament Season                         

1) June 12^th/13^th:  Liberty Tournament (Malvern, PA)           

2) June 19^th/20^th:  Father's Day Invitational (Maryland)             

3) June 26^th/27^th:  Tournament #3   NEW            

Week of July 4^th:  NO TOURNAMENT OR PRACTICE             

4) July 10^th/11^th:  Tournament #4   NEW              

5) July 17^th/18^th:  Tournament #5   NEW
