Beach Volleyball Rules

USAV and CBVA beach volleyball rules shall apply with league exceptions: 

Here are some basic tournament rules a junior beach player should know:

1.  Rally scoring.  Normally to 21 points, switch on every 7 points.   23 point cap in pool play and no cap win by two points in single elimination playoffs.
2.  No setting on serve/receive.
3.  No open hand dinks.
4.  When "shooting" the ball over the net, your shoulder must be squared in the direction you are sending the ball over the net.
5.  You can play under the net, just as long as your body does not touch the net.   Hair is OK.
6.
 12U division Only - server will be allowed to serve inside/in front of the service line, just as long as one foot is touching the service line at the time the serve is made.
(San Diego tournament rule only). 

Sportsmanship Rules.
  You call your own faults.   You don't call the other teams faults (e.g. doubles, open hand dinks, etc.)  Only the referee calls the faults.

Parent Rule
   Keep the parents off the courts.   If any parent disputes the score, calls a fault, calls time out, coaching during the match, and complaints or tries to intimidate the players and referees . . . . . . I will deduct One Point.  Second time I will throw The Player out of the tournament.

Additional rules exceptions will be at the league director's discretion.

FOUR MAN BEACH VOLLEYBALL RULES
California Beach Volleyball Rules with the following exceptions.

Dumping is NOT ALLOWED.

No setting on serve receive.

Six players on the roster.

Starting lineup:  4-6 on the starting line up. 
Only 4 players on the court at any time.

Substitution (Re-Entry Rule)
A Substitute can come in for one starting player, only one time.
The starting player can return to the lineup, but must be in his orginal spot in the serving rotation.
The Substitute is now out of the game, and cannot sub for the rest of the game.

Serving rotation must be submitted to the scorekeeper, prior to the start of your game.

All players on the starting lineup must be in the serving rotation, even the defensive specialist.

Team can play with 3 players on the court.   Less than 3 players is a forfeit.

Setting across the net must be square (shoulder and feet),
no misdirection passes/sets across the net.

No open hand tips.

All teams will referee games which will include a net judge and scorekeeper.

Faults/Violations:   Only the referee and the violating teams can call their own faults.
"YOU CANNOT CALL FAULTS ON THE OTHER TEAM - ONLY THE REFEREE"

COACHING
NO COACHING DURING THE GAME.
TIME OUTS MUST BE CALLED BY THE TEAM.  THIS IS THE ONLY TIME
YOUR COACH CAN TALK TO YOU.

PARENTS RULE
ANY PARENT FOUND COACHING DURING A GAME, DISPUTING CALLS BY THE REFEREE, OR ANY INTERFERANCE OF THE GAME.   ONE POINT WILL BE DEDUCTED.  SECOND VIOLATION THE GAME IS FORFEITED.  TOURNAMENT DIRECTOR WILL CONFER WITH THE REFEREE ON THIS MATTER.

POOR SPORTMANSHIP BY PLAYERS AND FANS
WILL NOT BE TOLERATED.
