2008 Sophomore Team Recaps

 During the week of April 7 through April 11 the Sophomore baseball team went 3-0. The first victory came over South Houston 8-3. This was a big win because earlier in the season SoHo beat them. Donald Bayer got the victory and Ryan Moye led the team in hitting. The next day the Dogs went to North Shore to visit the Mustangs. Chance Garner took the hill for the Bulldogs and dominated. He pitched a complete game with the Bulldogs winning 13-1. Tyler Charo, Blake Bremer, David Johnson, Tyler Morris, Carlos Hinojosa, Casey Draper, and Michael Jones had good games at the plate. Then on Friday the Sophomores visited the Pasadena Eagles. Matthew Hurkmans threw a no hitter as the Bulldogs beat the Eagles 26-1. The victory was a total team effort. During the week of April 14 through April 18th the Bulldogs face some stiff competition in Pasadena Memorial and Deer Park. Currently the Sophomore team is playing .500 baseball

4/11 -  The Sophomore Bulldogs put it all together in a win over Pasadena 26-1. Matt Hurkmans threw a no-hitter in a game that lasted four innings. The game was a complete team victory. Some game highlights included a home run by Chance Garner, a Blake Bremer triple, and good defense played by the Dogs. Next the Dogs have to face Pasadena Memorial and Deer Park.

4/8 -  Chance Garner pitched a great game as the La Porte Sophomore Bulldogs beat North Shore 13-1. Great games were played by Tyler Charo, David Johnson, Carlos Hinojosa, Tyler Morris, Casey Draper, and Blake Bremer.
WP- Garner 1-0

4/4 -  The Bulldogs win 8-3 over South Houston.
WP- Gilbert Bayer 2-0

3/28 - The Bulldogs travelled to Pasadena and beat the Texans to get their 3 district victory. Gilbert Bayer got the victory.

3/25 - Deer Park 11 - La Porte 1 - TEAM R H E

 3/18 - La Porte 19 - Pasadena 1 -  WP- Gilbert Bayer 1-0

3/14 - North Shore 7 - La Porte 1 - The La Porte Sophomore baseball team fell to 0-2 in district as they fell to the North Shore Mustangs 7-1 Friday night. The lost leaves the Dogs with an 0-2 district record. Next they play Pasadena on the Tuesday of Spring Break and Pasadena Memorial on Thursday.

3/12 - South Houston 11 - La Porte 8 - La Porte Began in a 11-2 hole. Through good defense they fought back but the rally fell short at 11-8. The Dogs kept in the game with good pitching performances from Michael Montez and Chris Panalez. The hitting came through with timely hits from Blake Bremer, Justin Collins, Michael Jones, Tyler Morris, Christian Ochoa, and Tyler Charo. The Bulldogs are now 0-1 in district.

2/28 - La Porte 7 - Baytown Lee 6 - The Sophomore Bulldogs came from behind to defeat the Baytown Lee Ganders in the last inning. Ryan Moye doubled and then Carlos Hinojosa drove him in for the winning run. The Dogs had solid games from Tyler Charo, Zach Reynolds, Mackenzie Richburg, Justin Collins, and Tyler Morris. Chris Panalez pitched 4 inning in relief for the victory. Dogs win 7-6.

2/18 - Klein Oak 4 - La Porte 3 - The La Porte Bulldogs started off the scoring in the first inning but did not score again until the 6th inning. Great pitching and defense kept the Dogs in the game. The Dogs went into the final inning with a 3-1 lead. After getting the first batter things then fell apart for the Dogs. La Porte allowed 3 runs in the inning and lost the game. Great production was put out by Carlos Hinojosa, Justin Collins, Matt Hurkmans, and Tyler Morris.
