Bull City Little League: Welcome

Bahama Christmas Parade

Join BCLL in Bahama Christmas Parade on Saturday, December 12

The annual Bahama Christmas Parade is coming up on Saturday, December 12 at 10am. BCLL will once again have two floats in the parade - one for baseball and one for softball - and we invite players to ride with us! Be sure to wear your BCLL jersey/gear!

We will meet at Little River Community Center (8307 Roxboro Rd., Bahama) at 8:45am to load up and get in line for the parade. Parents should pick their players up at the Bahama Ruritan Club (8202 Stagville Rd., Bahama) at the conclusion of the parade. Some board members/parents will ride the floats with the kids. In the event that we have more kids than the floats can handle, we will have the older kids walk alongside the floats. Please be sure to bring candy to toss out to parade-goers - and don't eat it before the parade starts!

The parade is always a fun time for all. We look forward to you joining us!

BCLL Board of Directors for the 2016 Fiscal Year

BCLL's annual meeting was held Thursday evening, October 22nd, at the Town & Country building across from the fields.  We had a great turnout of parents who were interested in learning more about the operation of the league and in contributing their talents to maintaining and improving BCLL.

Some existing members were elected to new positions, and several new members were elected to the Board.  We sincerely thank those persons who attended, we welcome our new Board members, and we particularly thank those individuals who have not joined the Board, but have agreed to assist the Board and to serve on Commitees to assist in the support and management of the league.

Softball Clinic

BCLL Hosts Successful Softball Clinic With NCSU Wolfpack Club

BCLL hosted a free Halloween Havoc softball clinic with NCSU Wolfpack Club on Saturday, October 24 at our complex. Fifty girls were in attendance from 9am-12pm and received great instruction from Wolfpack softball players. Lunch was served after the clinic and everyone had a great time. BCLL sends a big thank you to N.C. State Softball for putting on the clinic to help our girls improve!

Updated Fall Schedule Released

The extended amount of bad weather forced the cancellation of numerous games at BCLL over the last week and a half. A revised schedule has been sent to all managers and will be uploaded to our website shortly. We have made every effort to reschedule all missed games. In order to do so, the regular season will be extended a week and the end-of-season tournament will be pushed out a week. No more rain please, Mother Nature!

All-Stars Recap: 8/9s Finish as State Runner-up; 9/10s Finish 3rd in State

The All-Star season has come to an end, with the exception of the 5/6 team that plays this weekend at BCLL. Bull City had a strong showing in postseason tournaments, sending their 8/9 and 9/10 teams to state tournaments.

The 8/9s finished runner-up in district play and advanced to the state tournament since District 6 was the host. They made a strong run in states, finishing runner-up to unbeaten Weddington National.

The 9/10s won the District 6 title and had a good showing in states as well. They fell twice to Greenville's North State team, and finished 3rd in the state.

The 7/8, 10/11 and 11/12 baseball teams and the 9/10 softball team represented BCLL well in district tournament play but fell short of advancing to the state tournaments. The 7/8s went 5-1 to finish 3rd in district play; the 10/11s went 2-2 and finished runner-up to Wilson; and the 11/12s went 2-2, finishing 3rd in the district. The 9/10 girls played Roxboro and Wilmington hard and close before losing both games in district play. They showed everyone that BCLL is a new force to be reckoned with in softball.

We are proud of all of our All-Star teams and look forward to cheering on the 5/6s in their tournament this weekend!

Mayors Cup DBacks Mayors Cup White Sox

BCLL-SDLL Split in Mayor's Cup

BCLL and SDLL split the Mayor's Cup this year, with each league winning two games. The Majors DBacks and AAA National White Sox brought trophies home with wins over their SDLL counterparts. The AAA American Braves and Machine Pitch Angels both played hard but fell short.

We congratulate the players and coaches of all four teams for representing BCLL in the Mayor's Cup Championship.

Great Read For All Little League Parents

Jeff, who writes for TheRustyArm blog, recently blogged about what youth baseball parents should be doing for their kids after speaking with Cal State-Long Beach coach Mike Steele. Steele has some sound advice for parents raising men, who also happen to play baseball. Read the full post on TheRustyArm.

Parade of Stars, Battle of the Bats a Big Success

We'd like to thank everyone who came out and spent the day with us Saturday for the Parade of Stars and Battle of the Bats event. We know it was a long day for many of you, but it was a great success! While we do not yet have final numbers for Battle of the Bats donations, we can say that we raised enough to cover the cost of new scoreboards that will be placed on Fields 1 and 3 very soon! Thank you all for your participation and support in our effort to make BCLL the best it can be!

Field Maintenance Day, Opening Ceremonies

The start of the spring baseball and softball season is just around the corner. There are some key dates that everyone should be aware of.

Field maintenance day is scheduled for this Saturday, March 21, from 7:30am-11am. This time is dedicated to helping get our facilities ready for the season. We need volunteers of all skill sets to help out, as there are tasks of all kinds. Please consider donating an hour or more of your time to help us get things in tip-top shape before opening ceremonies.

Opening ceremonies are scheduled for Saturday, March 28. Time is TBD. Pictures will also take place on this day (schedule is forthcoming). Please join us for our annual parade of teams, keynote speaker and mingle with your BCLL family and sponsors that will be on hand to help us kick off the new season. Our keynote speaker will be Mike Potts, a member of the N.C. Highway Patrol and a former Durham Bull.

We are looking forward to kicking off the season and seeing everyone at the fields for these two events!

Another Succesful Dick's Shop Day in the Books; Great Day at N.C. State Softball

Thanks to everyone who came out to support BCLL and take advantage of the 20% off coupon at Dick's Sporting Goods on Saturday. We saw 120 families between 10am and 2pm, when board members were present to assist with questions, and a total of 309 coupons were used throughout the day. Kim Naylor was the winner of a $50 Dick's gift certificate from our drawing, so congratulations to her! We feel certain that once numbers are crunched, they will show another great turnout for Shop Day!

We'd also like to thank N.C. State Softball for hosting Little League day at their game against Notre Dame on Sunday. Several families took advantage of the beautiful weather to attend the game and meet players after the game, and had a great time! We have BCLL days planned with Duke Baseball and UNC Softball coming up, so stay tuned for more information on those.

Skill Evaluations Update for Sunday

We will be at BCLL for Day 2 of skill evaluations today, from 2-4pm. Please be there no later than 2:45 to check in.

Four-, five- and six-year-olds do not need to attend.

12-year-olds also do not need to attend UNLESS they are new to the league.

If your child of any age is new to our league, please bring them today. If you have played in our league in the past and are comfortable using previous years' evaluation scores (i.e. you feel there hasn't been much change in skill level), you can opt out of skills today. We encourage you to come if you feel your child's level of play has increased since their last evaluation.

Even if your child does not go through evaluations today, we need you to drop off their medical release form, volunteer form and sign a Code of Conduct form at the fields.

We know it is cold and will work to get you all through evaluations quickly today. Bundle up and we'll see you at the fields!

Draft Scheduled for Feb. 21; Mandatory Managers/Coaches Meeting on Feb. 22

The Spring baseball and softball drafts will be held on Saturday, February 21st for all divisions. Times have yet to be determined, but we wanted to get this date on potential managers/coaches calendars.

There is a MANDATORY managers/coaches meeting and clinic on Sunday, February 22nd, from 1-3pm at BCLL. This will be followed by a mandatory safety meeting. These meetings are also open to all assistant coaches and parents in general. We encourage anyone interested in coaching or helping coach this season to attend these meetings. There will be a lot of helpful information shared.

We look forward to seeing you all as we kick off the new season!

New Dick's Sporting Goods Coupons Available

In 2014, Bull City Little League entered into a community partnership with Dick's Sporting Goods at Brier Creek. It was a very successful partnership for both parties, with Dick's providing us with equipment, being our primary sponsor for our Bat-a-thon fundraiser and hosting spring and fall shop days with coupons specifically for our league.

We will continue to partner with Dick's in the coming year. They have already provided us with new coupons that can be used now, and continue to be used through 2015. You can access the new coupons here. This is great for those of you who are still Christmas shopping for your ball player!

We'd like to thank Dick's Sporting Goods for their continued support of BCLL, and we look forward to another successful year working together!

Softball Clinic with UNC's Marissa Young a Success

On Saturday, November 22nd BCLL hosted a free pitching/catching softball clinic, featuring UNC Assistant Softball Coach Marissa Young.

About 50 girls took advantage of the chance to get great instruction from Young and had a lot of fun learning drills they can take home and practice during the offeseason.

BCLL gives a big thank you to UNC Softball and Marissa Young for helping our softball players grow and prepare for the spring.

Congratulations on Another Great Fall Season

BCLL wrapped up another great fall season. This fall marked our inaugural softball season, which was very successful.

We'd like to congratulate the following teams on their regular season and tournament titles:

  • Juniors: Rays, regular season and tournament champions
  • AAA National: Storm, undefeated regular season and tournament champions
  • AAA American: American Thunder, undefeated regular season and touranment champions
  • AA Machine Pitch: Eagles, regular season and tournament champions
