2008 Greater Buffalo NSA Qualifier Tournament Rules
2008 GREATER BUFFALO NSA NATIONAL QUALIFIERS
All teams must be NSA registered. No exceptions. Your NSA official roster including your team sanction number, is the only acceptable means of registration verification, and must be with the team at all times. Proof of insurance and birth certificates must be available upon request. YOU MUST REGISTER YOUR TEAM ONLINE. YOU ALSO MUST REGISTER ONLINE FOR THE TOURNAMENT.
2. NSA official rules will apply. NO EXCEPTIONS. The notification of intent to protest must be
made immediately before the next pitch. (exception: Player eligibility, this must be filed before
the end of the game.) All protests require a fee of seventy-five dollars (see rule 11 sec 4 in the
NSA rule book)
3. Ages: 12,14, 16, 18 or under as of December 31st 2007
4. Roster: Rosters must be turned in to the registration table 45 minutes before the start of your
first game. Proof of insurance is required at this time. Registration tables will be available at all
complexes. All team rosters are limited to twenty (20) players.
5. Tournament format: shall be round robin on Saturday, into single elimination play on Sunday.
There is a four game guarantee. Should there be inclement weather. The tournament director
reserves the right to change the tournament format and guaranteed number of games.
6. Teams must be available to play 15 minutes before game time.
7. Home team in all round robin games, is to be determined by the flip of the coin. Teams must
have their own official scorer. Home team is the higher seed in all elimination games.
8. No infield or batting practice on game diamonds.
9. Games will be seven (7) innings except: (a) No new inning will start after 1:30 mins. of play.
(b) International tiebreaker after seven (7) innings ( c ) international tiebreaker after 1:30 mins.
of play if tied. The NSA will use the 12, 10, and 8 run rule in all tournament play. If one team is
12, 10 or 8 runs ahead after 3, 4 or 5 innings, or after 2 ½, 3 ½, or 4 ½ innings if the home team
is ahead by 12, 10 or 8 or more runs respectively, the team with the 12, 10 or 8 run lead shall
be the winner.
10. Championship games will have no time limit. The run rule will be in effect as stated in no. 9
11. Seeds for Sundays elimination round will be determined after the last games are completed
from Saturdays round robin format. This will be determined by: (a) best over-all record ( b ) least amount of runs allowed. (c) runs scored (d) coin flip Note: Forfeits are recorded as a 7 - 0 score
12. Players may play for only one team and one age group during the weekend, even if their team
is eliminated.
13. Each team is responsible for their own insurance. Hamburg Girls Softball and HJBL assumes
no responsibility for accidents, injuries or insurance.
14. The Greater Buffalo NSA tournament director, reserves the right to change the rules as
required.
