ABOUT US:

University of Buffalo’s Alumni Arena is scheduled to host the 2010 North American Championship Tournament.Our 17th annual event will welcome 50+ teams from throughout the U.S. and Canada,and is the largest annual tournament of its type.Each team will play at least 3 games—and some will play 4 or 5— in less than 40 total hours.For some age groups, club level of play coincides with competitive level.Registration is also open to individuals.Admission to the games is free for spectators.Net proceeds of the event benefit the UB Athletic Department. 

Age Categories:

30+, 35+,  40+, 45+, 50+, 55+, 60+, 65+, 70+, 75+( Teams can play Competitive or Recreational)               

NEW FOR 2010: 70+ and 75+ will play Cross Court Style. This is 4 on 4 play and will be on a 47 foot full court

Tournament Accommodations:

Accommodations have changed for 2010. Please note that there are several other athletic tournaments in Buffalo the weekend of Buffalo Masters so booking early at hotels with our group name is very important. Two of our selected hotels will be offering double rooms and two of our selected hotels will be offering king rooms. If you select a king and plan to share your room, please reserve a rollaway when you call to book otherwise there may not be any available! Please tell the hotel that you are with Buffalo Masters Athletics to get our group rate.

Bracketing:

The number of teams per bracket must be 4, 5, 6, or 8, with even numbers thereafter for scheduling purposes. Postal date and reception of a check and roster will reserve a teams spot on a first come first served basis.Registration is also open to individuals.The seeding of teams in each bracket evaluates previous finalists,strength of team, previous matchups and city or region. 

Draw:

Seeded pools will be used, depending upon the number of entries in each group. Generally there are between 6 and 16 teams per age group. All teams are guaranteed three games.  Each team will be notified beforehand of the start time of the first game on Friday.  Two games will be played on Saturday.  Advancing teams will play a semi-final or final on Sunday.  The last game ends by 3pm.  Tie breaks are decided by point differentials.  Tournament referees are paid members of I.A.B.O. 

Registration:

Players will complete registration and sign a personal waiver at the time of the first game.

PHOTO I.D. REQUIRED.

Players may participate in more than one age category. Schedule conflicts must be accepted by the team and the player if he elects to play in more than one category.Successful contravention of age requirement will result in team forfeiture of games. 

Equipment You Need:

You will need warm-up basketballs and two sets of numbered uniforms - one dark, one light. The second team on the playing schedule wears the light uniform.

Team uniforms are available for purchase. 

N.C.A.A. Rules:

Twenty-minute halves, whistle stop clock. 1 and 1 bonus after 7 team fouls, 2 shots after 10 team fouls, techs are team fouls and personal fouls, 5 fouls and out, two 60-second timeouts/game, two 20-second timeouts/game, one timeout for overtime. Stop clock for all ages except 70+ and 75+ 

Awards:

There are first and second place team awards, 10 individual awards for winning team, an MVP award, and 6 all-star awards for each category of competitive and recreational age brackets.

3 Point Shooting:

A three point shooting contest will be held at 12:45pm for all age groups. Cost to enter is $5.00 (no re-entry).

15 balls-5 from the top of the key, and 5 from each of the wings.Top scorers will advance to a final.

A shootout will determine the winner.1st place will receive $100.00 and 2nd place will receive $50.00
