452 Maxine Goyette
Position: So. Jr Olympics - Reno - 93/94
Birthday: Apr 27
Profile: Oak Ridge High School - Sophomore - Division 1
1120 Harvard Way, El Dorado Hills, CA 95762
HS Coach: Rob Fairley

Maxine Goyette came to Oak Ridge with a lot of footspeed. She won her mile and 800 track finals while in middle school. She was capable of winning the 400m too as her 1600m relay split was faster than the winning individual time. Any questions about her ability to go the distance in cross country have been quickly answered. Maxine has stepped right up to the varsity level and has delivered over and over again.

In August at the Willow Hills relays, Maxine went third and gave the Oak Ridge girls a big lead that they would not forfeit. From then it was on to the Rocklin Thunder Invite where – in her only frosh/soph meet of the year - she was second behind Trojan teammate Samantha Ralstin. Max was 5th (#4 Oak Ridge) at the SVC league meet at El Dorado Hills GC and Top 10 at the Trojan Invite once again on the heels of Samantha. She took 9th place in 20:02. No records are kept but 20:02 has to be one of the best times ever for a freshman racing that course individually for the first time.

Max continued her great running in the heat at Stanford going 19:31 taking 14th in D2 right behind you know who. She was the fastest freshman in D2.   In the highly competitive SVC, she was 6th place at league meet #2 as Oak Ridge continued to have great success team-wise. All this, and yet it gets better. At Clovis she rocked to a blistering time of 18:49, #2 in this race for Oak Ridge, as the Trojans took 3rd at the elite sweepstakes race against the likes of Crescenta Valley, Davis, Mira Costa, and Mountain View. Maxine was the #2 freshman in her race at Clovis and ranks right up there with the top freshman in the SJS - along with LeeAnn, April, and Shayna Powless.

She has been playing competitive soccer and competitive softball since she was four. She is an outstanding pitcher, in particular, mastering five pitches when she was only 11.   She was straight A’s all through Marina Village Middle School and is taking school seriously at Oak Ridge, too. She has three sisters - Gabrielle (16), Gretchen (12) and Blair (8), a wacky dog Reggie - whom we’re looking forward to meeting one day - dad Paul, and mom Janet (thanks for the info!).

On the first day of her HS racing career, Maxine is interviewed by Rich Gonzalez for DyeStatCal.com.

Maxine dashes to 9th at the Trojan Invite - At Stanford, her time was 19:31 in difficult conditions
