LAURYNNE AT THE WORLD MEET IN SCOTLAND - 3/30/08 - POST-RACE
"
I really liked it. The hill was not as intimidating as it seemed yesterday, when we jogged through the course. I really just let everything get rolling on the downhills. When we went around turns, people were bumping into each other. I almost had to start walking. I learned here that I have to get out much slower and then move up. I know that Lauren (Saylor) was talking about it before the race, about trying it, and we had nothing to lose.”   from John Nepolitan's Dyestat blog
LAURYNNE AT THE WORLD MEET IN SCOTLAND - 3/29/08 - PRE-RACE
"Looks like the hill is pretty challenging…I am really glad that the weather is holding up…I am just honored to be running with so many accomplished runners…I am going to learn so much from this experience” Her highlight so far – “Getting to know all of these people. A lot of them I have never met before and some I have met at Foot Locker, so it is nice to get to know them better. It has been great to be able to talk to the professional athletes and to be able to visit Edinburgh. I have never been to Scotland, so for all of this to be free is awesome.”  from John Nepolitan's Dyestat blog
LAURYNNE AT THE WORLD MEET IN SCOTLAND - 3/26/08 - 1ST DAY
Hi everyone!,
The trip here was long and tiring, but we've finally arrived.  The weather, fortunately, isn't too bad; it's not raining and it's not too cold.  We're staying in dorm rooms on the campus which is right next to the park where the race will take place.  That's definitely a big plus!  We're going to head out soon for some sight seeing, so I'll let you know how that goes.  So far though, Edinburgh is somewhat bleak, gloomy, and sleepy looking with dark, yet beautiful buildings.  The city is situated right next to the coast with lucious, green, rolling hills.  The running trails nearby are great and as they snake uphill, they provide amazing views of the coast and the different parts of the city.  I hope everything is going well in the states.  Talk to you soon,  Laurynne

The latest Buffalo Babes 'Dream Team' goes to the southland and puts their tremendous talents on display.  The Buffalo Babes win with a near-perfect score, 11-31, to win this meet for a third year in a row.  After never having put anyone in the Top 20 prior to 2007, a grand total of five Buffalo Babes crash the Top 20 in 2008 and two girls even make it into the Top 10.  Laurynne Chetelat finishes in 7th and Jacque Taylor finishes in 8th.  Also making the Top 20 were: Maria Malone 12th, Deb Maier 18th, and Kelsey Smith (Top 20 for the 2nd year in a row) 19th.  The Buffalo Babes 'B' team - led by Kate Lambdin and Sarah Tusting - raced their hearts out and take 4th place as a team... great effort!!!

2007 US Cross Country Nationals
US XC Champs - Boulder, Colorado - February 10th
"Almost everyone who is anyone in US long distance running will be there."

"This is certainly the most important running race ever to happen in the state of Colorado." - Meet Director Pete Julian
From Letsrun.com
"Buy your plane tickets now. The 2007 USATF XC Nationals in Boulder, CO are now officially an event for the ages. The nationals were already shaping up to be a great race as for the first time since 1997, the nationals will crown a single male and single female US long course champion thanks to the IAAF's abolition of short-course cross country. And with the location being in Boulder, it had already been previously announced that most of the top recent Colorado Buffalo stars would be competing. Well now, we are pleased to report, that it has been confirmed that almost everyone who is anyone in US long distance running will be there."

BUFFALO BABES repeat as US XC Jr. Women Team Champs.
MEL LAWRENCE leads 3 Buffalo Babes into the Top 20.

Buffalo Babes are Nike Athletes of the Week at YouthRunner.com!!

EXCITING WEEKEND IN NEW YORK CITY!
RACE DAY
It was a great field of outstanding individual Junior Women's runners and three fine teams: the Buffalo Babes, the Wings of America, and the Dallas Metroplex Striders led by Loren Hodges and Jillian Rosen. What an honor to run against the Metroplex Striders, one of the most organized clubs for pre-collegiate runners in the nation. Samantha Means and Kinsey Farren were really on their game and ran under 22:00 for the Striders, faster than such collegians as Tori Tyler and Krystal Duke. But the Buffalo Babes depth was one of their strengths this year. Spotting the Striders 1st and 2nd meant that in this event, the Buffalo Babes had to put four in before the next Strider to have any chance. Just as in 2005, Yasmine paced herself and built her momentum throughout the race, ignoring the driving snow that whipped through the park. With Maritza, Mo, and Katie running in the 3rd, 4th, and 5th team spots, Yasmine moved ahead of the #3 Dallas runner during the second of the three 2k loops. Everyone was able to hold or increase their position and the Buffalo Babes won the Junior Team title by a narrow 18-19 score. The Top 4 Buffalo Babes finished under 23:00 and within 25 seconds of each other... not really surprising since the Woodward Park PR of all six NY Buffalo Babes is only 33 seconds apart. Congratulations to Dallas, to the Wings, and of course to the Buffalo Babes for their first national team win at this race. Also congratulations to World team qualifiers Kauren Tarver of California and to McKayla Plank (NorCal) and Merie Lawrence (NV) who did plenty of USATF youth running in the Pacific Association. Add Nicole Blood to that mix, who is moving to California, and that's four girls that have CA ties.

SIGHTSEEING
Thanks to the 3-day weekend, the Buffalo Babes didn't leave NYC without getting to know Manhattan. The cold weather made being outside challenging but it sure kept the crowds down! On Friday after the course walk, the Buffalo Babes toured CBS Studios which included watching part of the Evening News get taped, walked through Times Square, had dinner on 9th Ave at a bustling Greek restaurant, and thoroughly enjoyed the Off-Broadway musical 'Altar Boyz'. Sunday was fully devoted to seeing NY and among the many activities were: Grand Central Station, St Patrick's Cathedral, Rockefeller Center, the incredible view from the TopOfTheRock, walking briefly into Central Park, 'shopping/wishing' at Tiffanys, NikeTown at Trump Tower, Ground Zero, Soho, the Staten Island Ferry with the view of Statue of Liberty/Manhattan, etc. On Monday morning several of the Buffalo Babes went on a United Nations tour and saw the Security Council and General Assembly Chambers before heading home. WE <3'd NY !
