Since 2000, the BUFFALO BABES have invited many of the best high school distance runners in the Sac-Joaquin Section - and the nearby region - to run as teams around the nation at Junior Olympics, Foot Locker West, and other meets.  Recently, the Buffalo Babes have also begun to prepare some of the top middle school girls in the Sacramento area for high school running.  The Babes have won 18 National Titles and have dozens of All-Americans.     Check it out >> BB history.     (Best Viewed at 1024x768 Resolution)

5/27 - Buzz Oates No Excuses 5K Road Race - Land Park, Sacramento - Results - Photos

Buzz Oates and Capital Race Mgmt put on one of the better 5ks of the year in Land Park.
Thanks to handicapped/age-gender scoring, the Buffalo Babes can compete with some of the finer area runners.
This year two BB's finished in the top ten: Sofia Castiglioni and Isabella Fauria.
Sofia ran 18:21 to take 8th (adjusted) - first woman overall - and Izzy was around 19:30 to take 9th.

Sofia's brother Zeno was 48th, so he earned a plaque. Hallie was 63rd with 20:33. PR's for all.
Erica twisted an ankle near the mile mark, but gutted it out and finished. Sydney G of BCRC ran strong too.
Last but not least, Alize was in the high 40's and eventually settled into 50th. 50th place gets to sit in the Buzz Oates hot seat and wins a leather chair if they stay there. It was anxious for a few minutes, but Alize stayed in 50th place, chatting with Buzz Oates all the while. So her first two races for us, Alize wins a medal, a plaque, and a leather chair. Not bad!



5/25-26 - Central Valley RR meet - Turlock HS, Turlock -  Results
5 Buffalo Babes with super results
TORI - PR in the 1500 (5:36.22) and silver medal in the 4x800
EMILY - PR in the 400 (66.92), near-PR in the 1500 (5:12.72) - both 4th place) - and sliver medal in the 4x800
HALLIE - PR in the 1500 (5:21.03) and silver medal in the 4x800
IZZY - PR in the 1500 --- 4:55.99 (silver medal), gold medal in the 800 (2:32.73) and 3000m (10:53.90)
     Note: The winning time in last year's Junior Olympics was 4:53.76.   In 2011 it was 4:58.88.
ALIZE - Great 2nd leg in the 4x800 to help BB's earn silver medal in the 4x800.
800m splits - Hallie 78.4/86.1 = 2:44.5.  Alize 74.5/79.8 = 2:34.3.  Em 77.5/75.6 = 2:33.1.  Tori 84.1/87.7 = 2:51.8. = 10:43.9

Wed/Thur. May 8/9 - Yolo League Meet/FISAL Trials
Gettin ready for league finals. Sofia 5:29. Madison and Emily 5:36. And Hallie 5:51 in the mile. Em and Sofia both double with 800 wins. Some good 4x4 action too. Sofia (69) anchors winning Harper team along with Hallie...4:54... beating all the boys teams too. Madison's Buljan team even faster... 61 62 66 75 = 4:26. Soopah quick. Em's 7th grade team wins too.



4/26/13- Folsom Future Stars Meet – Results

Girls did a great job finishing 2nd out of 4 teams in the 4x100 – not exactly our specialty and going under 60 seconds. Megan A and Tori K went way under 70 in the 400, and 3 nice races in the 800m… fast pace and the girls hung on well. Nice Improvement!

Izzy got the meet off to a super start with a 10:47 3000 in the first race of the day (1st place) … 80, 89, 89, 85, 88, 89.5 88, 38.7, 5:43 first mile.  Tori F PR’d with a sub 12 – 3000.  After a marathon wait, Izzy had another PR in the 800 and Tori F and Erica ran excellent 800’s with major PR’s.  Tori F went gold time, barely (.03) and Erica just missed silver (.09).  Tori K gave us all a good dose of her footspeed with a quick 72.5 400m.  And Izzy wowed the crowd again with an outstanding battle vs. Jaxin Woodward in the 1500.  Izzy’s 5:00 is about 10 seconds away from the Midget girls PA record held by Christine Bayliss, and she's at the bottom of the age group.  Youth National Champ Julia Bounds won the Youth Girls 1500m and 3000m easily.

After a loooong layoff, Isabella D took 4th place in the 1500. 5:12 is spectacular for missing so much time. Hallie and Isabella F PR'd since they had never raced the 1500 before. Isabella F ran down some folks to take 2nd place with a super 800 (2:32.8). She also ventured into the 300m low hurdles (a high school event) and did remarkably well with no spills! Wondering if she'll try the high jump next ?!

HS Section Finals - Elite HS girls advance to Masters Finals next Friday night. 14 of the 24 girls in the 3200m are Buffalo Babes, 14 of the 27 milers are BB’s, 4 of the 24 girls in the 800m.
