Hudson Valley Baseball Umpires Training Academy

The Hudson Valley Baseball Umpires Training Academy (HVBUTA) will conduct 2 clinics this Winters. One held locally here in the center of the Hudson Valley and another held in Westchester.

Over the past 2 years we have made a significant impact in helping umpires from all over the greater metropolitan area improve the quality of their own skill sets.

More importantly we have created an environment of success as umpires are climbing to the next level over their peers based on the merit of their performances.

Please visit for all information including costs, course schedules and locations and a list of umpires who are succeeding in at the High School, Junior College and NCAA.

Highlights of Umpires Development with umpires you know:

Gary Colorusso, Justin Perri, John Umbro, Edwin Santos & Craig Carvahlo all gained entrance to work for the NCAA this coming Spring season in 2013.

Congratulations to Tom Hamilton named Dutchess County HS Umpire of the Year by the DCHSBCA

Lou Gaudio & Kevin Fox earned the opportunity to work for Region XV Junior Colleges starting in 2013.

Lee Marino, Tom Hamilton, Mike Williams & Tony Cafora continue to climb the Fast Track in Region XV.
Ask yourself these 2 simple yet important questions:
How can I be a better umpire?
What do I need to do to reach the next level?
There are 2 major enemies to umpires:
Surprise on the ball field
Complacency (thinking they are "too good to learn" off of it).
Do yourself a favor this winter..... help make yourself better than you were last year! Here's some of what you can expect:

Good luck and Make The Right Call!

Best regards,

Dave Speranza

I think that the quality of the umpiring is not that great. i watched the 8u summer league travel season and the quality of umpiring was honestly very poor. the strike zones were huge and did not make sense. on base calls were not too good. they can improve that by adding a field umpire that would help a lot. it seemed as if umpires were in a rush to get home. if you could please consider my comments that would be great

"The winners in life think constantly in terms of I can, I will, and I am. Losers, on the other hand, concentrate their waking thoughts on what they should have or would have done, or what they can't do." - Dennis Waitley
