Saturday, October 24 The Friar Experience Paul Hendrickson is privileged to be able to introduce a program for girl's hockey teams known as "The Friar Experience." The purpose of "The Friar Experience" is to build a link between an elite college women's hockey team and area girls hockey programs.
For each Providence College Women's home game, a girls hockey program can have "The Friar Experience" - a game day tour of the PC Women's locker room; recognition of the program during the game; a free Friar poster for each player - ideal for post-game autographs; and an opportunity to watch the Lady Friars in action against some of the top college hockey teams in the country. This season, The Friar Experience has added the "Youth Hockey Hat Trick" described in the attached poster.
We would be pleased to host your teams this year for one of the PC women's games. The following dates are currently open:
Please let me know if you have any questions or would like to reserve one of these dates. Alternately, please contact Erin Normore, the PC Friar Experience Coordinator at 401-865-GOPC.
Thanks,
Paul Hendrickson

Handout: thanksgiving Tournaments League Weather / Cancellation / No Show Policy BSGHL Cancellation / No Show Policy (Adopted October, 2000; Modified September, 2004) Whereas the girls hockey programs (Member Programs) that participate in the BSGHL desire to offer to its players a reliable, competitive and enjoyable hockey experience, we have agreed to the following guidelines: •Member Programs are responsible to communicate this policy to its Team(s) in the BSGHL •It is the responsibility of every Member Program to meet its obligations as set forth in the most current schedule that is distributed, from time to time, during the regular season. •By Obligation(s), we mean that every Team will be prepared to begin a hockey game: (1) with a complete team of players (defined as minimum acceptable – 7 skaters and a goalie), and (2)and will arrive on time, at the location as indicated in accordance with the most current league schedule. •In the event that a Given Team determines that it is unable to meet its Obligation, the Responsible Coach (defined as the coach whose Team will not meet its Obligation) must call the opposing coach and provide a minimum of 48 hours notice (Required Notice). Where a Given Team is unable to meet its Obligation due to a scheduling conflict with another league or other non-BSGHL game (or for any other reason that should be known by the Given Team more than 7 days in advance), the Required Notice is 7 days. The BSGHL will make available to every Member Program with current contact information on teams competing in the BSGHL. •In the event that a Given Team fails to provide Required Notice and fails to meet its Obligation, the following applies: (1) For the first infraction the Given Team (not the entire Member Program) will be placed on probation within the BSGHL. The Given Team has the right to appeal this probation for extenuating circumstances. This appeal is to be made to the entire BSGHL with each Member Program having one vote. (2) For the second infraction, the Given Team (not the entire member Program) will be responsible to pay a penalty fee of fifty dollars ($50) or to provide a complementary sheet of ice at a reasonable time to the Opposing Member Program. The Given Team has the right to appeal this penalty for extenuating circumstances. This appeal is to be made to the entire BSGHL with each Member Program having one vote. (3) For the third infraction the Given Team (not the entire Member Program) will be expelled from the league. The Given Team has the right to appeal this expulsion for extenuating circumstances. This appeal is to be made to the entire BSGHL with each Member Program having one vote. • If within forty eight (48) hours before a game is to be played, there is unexpected inclement weather that could prevent a game from being played, or,the rink has closed, and both coaches mutually agree that the game should be cancelled, there will be no probation, penalty, or expulsion assigned to either team. • In the event that a Home Team is aware that a Rink will be unavailable (for example a tournament has been scheduled) for a game and fails to notify the Visiting Team, the Home Team (not the entire member Program) will be responsible to pay a penalty fee of fifty dollars ($50), and to provide a complementary sheet of ice at a reasonable time to the Opposing Member Program. League 50 Minute Hour Policy Standard for 50 Minute Hours (Adopted January 16, 2002): For BSGHL games when the ice time available is a 50-minute hour, the following procedure will be used for game timekeeping: •Period 1 - 12 minute stop time •Period 2 - 12 minute stop time •Period 3 - running time with the last 2 minutes stop time. At start of third period, the referee will determine how much running time is available while still allowing for the last 2 minutes to be stop time. Unless there is a goal differential of 5 goals or more, the last 2 minutes of the game will always be stop time. In addition to the above standard, it is strongly recommended (1) that both teams be ready to go on the ice immediately after the Zamboni comes off the ice, and (2) that the timekeeper start the 3 minute warm-up clock immediately after the Zamboni leaves the ice. Generally the BSGHL rinks which utilize 50 minute hours are the Burbank Arena in Reading, the Bajko MDC Rink in Hyde Park, and the Armstrong Arena in Plymouth. Friday, September 22 League 90 Minute Hour Policy Standard for 90 Minute Hours (Adopted September 12, 2006): For BSGHL games when the ice time available is a 90-minute hour, play will consist of three 15 minute stop time periods. Generally the BSGHL rink which utilizes 90 minute hours is The ICenter, home rink for the Top Gun team. Tuesday, October 24 NH Curfew Games The following policy relates to games which are not open ended (i.e. the ice is scheduled for another use after the one hour game allotment), therefore technically applying to all BSGHL games played in NH: NEW HAMPSHIRE AMATEUR HOCKEY ASSOCIATION 23 October, 2006 To all NHAHA Associations: Many Associations have expressed their concerns with curfew games. To address these concerns, NHAHA has adopted the following temporary policy on all curfew games, effective 24 October, 2006. 1. The home team Association Scheduler will contact the home team Head Coach, and will also contact the visiting team’s Association Scheduler, and will inform both that a curfew game will be played. The home team Head Coach will contact the visiting team Head Coach to inform him / her of the curfew game to be played. 2. Prior to the start of the game, the home team Head Coach will once again inform the visiting team Head Coach of the curfew game. The home team Head Coach will also inform the On Ice and Off Ice Officials that a curfew game will be played. 3. If, at the end of the second period, there is not enough time remaining to play the entire period in “stop time”, “running time” will begin. 4. No time-outs will be allowed during curfew games. Carl Dipaolo President, NHAHA Wednesday, September 13 USA Hockey Standard of Play Rules (Click here for a link to the USA Hockey article and video) Please reference the USA Hockey Standard of Play Rules which will be enforced by referees during the 2007-2008 season. The highlights of the standard of play rules are (click on the link above for more details): Through the standard of rules enforcement, our game, much like the National Hockey League, will continue to allow the opportunity for improved skill development and a more positive hockey environment for all participants. The mission of USA Hockey is clear; through this initiative a greater emphasis will be placed on skating, puck possession and the proper use of the body to establish position and a competitive advantage. The goal of the enforcement standard is to reduce restraining infractions in the game and not to remove legal body checking or body contact. A hard body check or using body contact/position (non-checking classifications) to gain a competitive advantage over the opponent should not be penalized as long as it is performed within the rules. |
