Blue Springs Gators Football and Cheer Association

As we embark on a new year the association would like to take just a little of your time to welcome you to the association and share a little information that you may find helpful.

History and our place in the bigger picture: The Blue Springs Gators Pop Warner Football started in 1994 with the first Blue Springs team was ready to play Pop Warner Football within Heart of America Association. The Blue Springs Gators includes not only kids from Blue Springs but from the surrounding areas such as Grain Valley, Lee's Summit and Oak Grove. We play within the Heart of America (HOA) League which servers Jackson, Clay, and Platte counties in Missouri including teams from Independence, Lee's Summit, Blue Springs, Liberty, Gladstone, Kearney, Excelsior Springs, Lawson and Parkville. HOA is the governing body for our region and is in charge of game schedules and tracking team standings through-out the region. The Gator Association and their goals: As the number of teams in the area grew, the Blue Springs Gators Football and Cheer Association were formed to reduce the administrative and financial strain on the individual teams. The association is made up of a group of volunteers that include an executive board, coaches (including cheer), business managers and other interested parties. The association remains active in the HOA board and holds 2 voting seats in the HOA association.

The Gator Family: In addition the association is focused on improving the quality of the little league experience by creating a "Gator Family" instead of an isolated football team and providing memories that will last a lifetime. Annual events such as the Pep Rally and the UNI-dome games provide the opportunity to meet other football and cheer families. Additionally once a child is part of a team they will remain with that team through-out their little league "career". They cannot be cut from the team nor do they have to try-out for the team the following season.

That time of year - FOOTBALL and CHEER Sign-ups are now being accpted for the 2009 Season

Why Join Pop Warner Football?

*     Pop Warner is the only nationally recognized league that plays to a National Championship starting at the 8-10 year old (Jr. PeeWee) tackle level.

*     70% of all NFL Players played Pop Warner Football. 

*     Mandatory Play Rule – All kids get to play  

*     WHOLE TEAM sign-ups allowed and welcomed

*     All teams are furnished with top quality safety approved equipment with both a Practice (player keeps) and Game Uniform (returned at the end of the season with the equipment).

*     League champions in football and cheer will advance to Regional Games in Nov. with those winners advancing to National competition at Disneyworld in Dec. 

*     Tackle Football divisions are weight controlled which creates much safer playing conditions!

*     Practices begin August 1st, with a 10 game regular season.

*     Required at sign up time – a copy of the participants Birth Certificate and their 4th quarter Grade Card.

*     Before Practice Begins on August 1st every participant must have a current Physical form filled out and turned into their coach.

*Pop Warner Football encourages the player to stay at the lowest division possible for weight and age.

**Players are allowed to gain 1 lb. each week after 1st game.

Why Join Pop Warner Cheerleading?

*   All skill levels are welcome – no try-outs or cuts

*   Whole team sign-up’s allowed

*   All teams get to participate in a local exhibition/competition

*   Past Gator squads have placed at Local, Regional, and National levels

*   Optional fundraising opportunities are available

*   League champions will advance to the Regional Cheer Competition in Novemberwith those winners advancing to the National competition at Disneyworld in December

*   Practices begin August 1st, with a 10 game regular season

*   Required at sign up time – a copy of the participants Birth Certificate and their 4th quarter Grade Card.

Registration Fees: (Cheer Uniform not included in registration fee)

·         Recreational Cheer – $190.00 - will have weekly practice and cheer at games from August – October, will also exhibit at local competition in October

·         Competitive Cheer* – $225.00 –will have multiple practices weekly, cheer at games from August – October, and compete at local competition with winners advancing to regional, then national competition
