The U12 and U16 Demons RAISE HELL at the 2006 Mass Thundercats Invitational!!!
Last weekend, April 22nd and 23rd, the Mass Thundercats held their 3rd Annual Invitational Tournament. The Bay State Demons were represented by our youngest group (U-12) coached by Joe LeBlanc and Dale Estey as well as our oldest group (U-16) coached by Somerville High JV head coach Steve Gangemi and assisted by Joe LeBlanc. These groups did all the Demons proud!
The U-12 team, after struggling last year as a first-year AAU group, have arrived! The dedication of these girls and their coaches (and the patience of their parents) has started to pay off as they found themselvews in the Championship Game versus a talented and renowned U-12 Bay State Blizzard team. It was a hard-fought contest in which the Blizzard eventually prevailed. But that loss does not diminish the accomplishments of our Demons team in any way. This team has served notice. They will be a force to be reckoned with in any tournament they enter.
Note to Coach Harris---the Future is Bright!!!
Congratulations to our U-12 team from all the Demons!
The U-16 team, under Coach Gangemi, stunned the crowd by becoming the 2006 CHAMPIONS of the Mass Thundercat Invitational. With inspired play from Somerville High's Tashi "The Hammer" Hamilton and Alyssa Regan, this blue-collar, hard-working team of overachievers defeated a regional All-Star team from the North Shore, the U-16 Elite Mass Thudercats. Sporting veterans from high school tournament teams including Peabody, Lynn Classical and Swampscott, the Thundercats were heavy favorites with the crowd but the Demons tenacity and refuse-to-lose attitude carried the day. In the end, the Demons were crowned the Champions!!
Congratulations to our U-16 team from all the Demons!
