Order of the Arrow

OA logo

Members of the Order of the Arrow can renew their annual dues by using the coupon for 2009/2010. It's available at the district website or you can link and download by clicking this article's headline.  Our Chapter is very close to attaining "Quality Chapter" for the fourth year in a row and we need previous members from past years to renew.

Any questions about the Order of the Arrow should be directed to Evan C., OA Troop Representative.

New Boy Scout Handbook

BSA Handbook

The new edition of the Boy Scout Handbook was released in August and is available at the local Scout Shop. The look is different and it is meant to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the BSA. The rank requirements have minor changes.

There is a chapter on leadership and new sections on health and internet usage.

The handbook is printed using environmentally friendly production processes including 100% recycled paper.

A website dedicated to the use of this handbook is available at www.bsahandbook.org.

An iPhone application for the handbook will be available in September.

New Medical Forms

The BSA has released a new Annual Health and Medical Record which will replace the old Class 1, 2, 3 forms. The changeover is mandated by January 1, 2010. Please start using the new forms immediately. As always, all medical forms should be turned in to Dr. Tim Boyer.

Everybody must now have an annual physical to participate in a high adventure trek, a strenuous activity, or any event lasting over 72 hours. There are also height/weight ratios for some activities.  All age groups will use the same form.

The new computer-friendly form, with instructions, is available for download here under "Important Documents".
