Brush Country Rattlers Football

The Brush Country Rattlers, a non profit organization, offer Atascosa County youths an opportunity to play organized flag and tackle football and Cheerleading that began in 2004. The boys and girls who participate in our various football and cheer programs range in age from 4 to 11 years old in multiple age divisions. In order to provide a competitive schedule that reinforces our Mission Statement, these programs compete against teams in the Texas Youth Football Association(TYFA). TYFA is a "No Mandatory Play" and non weight league and players are placed on teams by age and not according to weight. As one of the most successful youth football programs in Atascosa County, the Brush Country Rattlers strive for championships each and every year. Therefore, you will have an opportunity to experience first-hand the great tradition established and continuing with the Brush Country Rattlers, and benefit from interaction with our energetic and successful coaching staff and you'll be exposed to the explosive offense and aggressive defense we play here. The Brush Country Rattlers are a non profit organization and are proud to be the premier youth football team in South Texas.

Brush Country Rattlers Mission Statement

To be the best youth football organization possible by keeping the interests of the children first and maintaining strong values which include sportsmanship, teamwork, responsibility, tradition, and commitment.

Brush Country Rattlers Purpose

Our purpose is to teach the game of football to children of this community whose parents are interested in being a part of a competitive environment that will promote safety and fundamentals over winning at the expense of a child or opponent. Our players are well coached in the fundamentals of football and in the physical aspect of the sport. Players are coached to become teammates, to be responsible for their equipment, know their position on the field, and to win and lose with dignity. We promote our players and families to take in pride in their team and our organization and to remember they represent the Brush Country Rattlers, the community, and our sponsors.

Through hard work and commitment from the Board, coaches, players, and families our organization will be respected and one where its teams will be strong contenders in the leagues we participate in every season.

Brush Country Rattlers Philosophy

Our philosophy is to constantly work on improving our organization to provide a positive and constructive environment to learn the game of football and to give each player an opportunity to have fun while being part of one of our teams!

Also, our philosophy is to achieve team success by focusing on teaching the basics of football and the fundamentals to every player so they can be successful and develop the confidence to move on to the next level. Every player will be treated fairly and know that they are an important part of the team and their contributions are valued. We believe that children can learn valuable life lessons from the game of football. For example, players are expected to maintain their grades in school throughout the football season and follow team rules.

Finally, as a competitive youth football organization, the Brush Country Rattlers are committed to providing its players and families the best coaches, leadership, and program structure possible using experienced or trained volunteers in each role that has responsibility. Player development and striving to win are the focus for each team. However, winning at the expense of any players, opponents, or the organization will not be tolerated.

Brush Country Rattlers Short Term Goals

  • To always have an organizational structure, where we have dedicated and qualified volunteers in every position that are necessary to run well youth based and volunteer lead programs. This includes having a Board that meets regularly to discuss both the business and sports aspects to meet the needs of its members.
  • To continue providing First Aid and CPR training to every coach in the organization. Also, an annual Background Check on every volunteer in the program to keep the children and families safe within the organization.

Brush Country Rattlers Long Term Goals

  • To own the land necessary to build a permanent home for the Brush Country Rattlers. The property will include a Gameday field, practice fields, permanent stands for the families and fans, a concession building, equipment building, field lights, a scoreboard, a press box, and parking lot.
  • To become a permanent and respected member of the sports community and to be advocates for volunteering in worthwhile events in Atascosa County.
  • To be the premier example of how a volunteer youth based sports organization should be operated all year long.
