The upcoming 2009 Spring Brookside Roller Hockey season is here! Come join the fun and sign up for roller hockey today.

New Developments:

The Brookside Roller Hockey League is expanding to include a High School Division for kids ages 15 through 17.

The Brookside Roller Hockey League will now be open to both boys and girls ages 6 through 17. There will be five age divisions: 8 & Under, 10 & Under, 12 & Under, 14 & Under and High School. This year’s season will run from April 12^th through June 27th. Like the preceding seasons, each team will practice one evening a week with games being played on Saturdays at the in-line hockey rink located in Holmes Park (70^th & Holmes, Kansas City, Missouri) or at the Lee's Summit rink.

The cost of the upcoming 2009 spring season will be $125.00 per player. However, the league is launching what we are calling a “Bring-A-Friend Campaign” which means that if you have played in Brookside Roller Hockey League in the past and you bring a new player into the league that did not play last year, the cost to both players is reduced to $100.00 each.

The league will continue to use a house team format with player evaluations to determine player skill level and team placement. Our goal is to have each team as equal as possible to ensure a fun experience for each player. It does not matter is you are a beginner having never player roller hockey before or an experience player there is a place for you with Brookside Roller Hockey!

Recognizing each player’s safety is of the utmost importance, there is absolutely NO checking allowed and each child will continue to be required to war a hockey helmet (with cage), internal mouth piece, hockey gloves, elbow pads, shin and knee guards and skates. As we have done in the past, the league will lend each player needing them a helmet and hockey gloves at no cost.

If interested in playing roller hockey this season, you will need to complete a 2009 Player Enrollment Form and Waiver Form. All enrollment fee checks should be made payable to Brookside Roller Hockey League. All enrollment information should be returned to:

The deadline for mailing the forms and fees is March 28, 2009. If you miss this deadline, you may enroll in person on April 4th at the player evaluations.

Driving Directions to Howard Park, Lee’s Summit
The driving directions start from our home rink at Holmes Park
1. Start out going East on E. 70th Street toward Troost Ave. (0.2 miles)
2. Turn right on Troost Ave. (0.1 miles)
3. Turn left onto E. Gregory Blvd. (1.0 miles)
4. Turn right onto US-71S/Bruce R. Watkins Drive.  Continue to follow US-71S. (3.7 miles)
5. Merge onto I-470 E towards Lee's  Summit. (12.7 miles)
6. Take the Woods Chapel Road Exit-Exit 12 (0.1 miles)
7. Turn left on NE Woods Chapel Road (0.5 miles)
8. Turn left onto NE Independence Ave. (0.5 miles)
9. Follow NE Independence Ave. through a residential neighborhood until the road runs into Howard Park. You will see a parking lot and the rink will be on your left.
