Suplimental Insurance Issues...
BROOKHAVEN RECREATION * YOUTH PROGRAMS
The Town of Brookhaven insures every participant who is listed on a "YOUTH" soccer team roster, (High School Varsity & JV). The player becomes insured and eligible to play when the Soccer League Supervisor receives a signed "BLUE" card (Boy's) or a signed "PINK" card (Girl's). This "Parent Permission/Supplimental Insurance" card states that the player has permission from his or her parent or guardian to play soccer in the Town of Brookhaven soccer program.
The insurance provided is similar to "SCHOOL" insurance. It is supplimental insurance which picks up where the family insurance provider leaves off.
Any "YOUTH" soccer player who is under the age of 18 and is injured during one of our soccer games or events is required to fill out an "Accident Report" stating the nature of the injury. "Accident Reports" should be filled out by the Soccer Supervisors at the time of the injury.
This insurance covers a player for a period of... 1 year from the injury date.
BROOKHAVEN RECREATION * ADULT PROGRAMS
Our Men's U-23 soccer league is an "ADULT" program and the insurance coverage is not available to the U-23 soccer players unless they are a minor under the age of 18.
All Men's U-23 players must sign a "YELLOW" card stating that they play at their own risk and do not have supplimental insurance unless they are under the age of 18.

Heat & Humidity Issues...
Heat & Humidity Issues...
Any night the Soccer Supervisors, Referees, Field Supervisors or Summer Soccer Coaches feel that the temperture and humidity levels are high the games will have MANDITORY water breaks. The water breaks can be between halfs (every 15 minutes) or the games can even be broken into 10 minute periods with 5 water breaks within the 60 minute game. It is the position of the Brookhaven Town Soccer Program that this policy is safe. If a parent feels that their son or daughter is not safe then they certainly have the right to have their child sit out that evening.

Shin-guards...
Shin-guards...
Shin-guards are required in all games sponsored by the Town of Brookhaven.
As of 2002 the shin-guards must cover the entire shin and top of the foot.
"Junior" shin-guards are no longer allowed or legal.
Age appropriate shin-guards are now required on all levels.
Beginning with the 2009 season, shinguards must meet the NOCSAE standard
and have the NOCSAE seal embeded in the plastic or on a tag sewn into the shin-guards.
When asked... players are required to show that they are wearing legal shin-guards.
