Clear Brook Baseball Booster Club: Coaching Staff




Gene Flores is in his 5th year as Head Coach while spending 4 years as the Assistant.  He is looking forward to a great 2015 season with a bunch of new faces and well-rounded student athletes.

Gene Flores was born and raised in Del Rio, Texas and played there up until his junior year before moving to Corpus Christi, Texas.  He is the son of Gene and Raquel Flores who are both experienced in the education field.  Gene Flores, Sr. is currently the Head Baseball Coach at Del Rio High School.  While in Corpus Christi, he attended Moody High School for two years and helped the team to a State Tournament appearance in 2000.  He was nominated as an All-State Pitcher in 1999 & 2000 for the Trojans.  After Moody High School, he attended the University of Houston and played under Head Coach Rayner Noble for five years (2000-2005).  He was named Honorable Mention Freshman All-American in 2001 and helped the Cougars to two super-regional appearances.  In 2004 Coach Flores had hip surgery and in 2005 returned for his senior year.  After pitching in the Boston Red Sox organization for one full season.After a year he returned to Houston and began his coaching career.  Coach Flores is married to Stacy Riley Flores and they have 2 younger sons, Trenton (7), Trace (4), and finally a little princess, Peyton (2).



Coach Buchanan is in his 2nd year of coaching at his alma mater Clear Brook High School and 4th year of coaching overall. He was a 2006 graduate of Rice University where he played under legendary coach Wayne Graham. During his time at Rice, he helped lead the Owls to two conference championships, culminating with a 2006 trip to the College World Series where the Owls placed 4th. That year he was selected by the Houston Astros in the 9th round of the Major League Baseball Draft. He spent 3 years playing in the Astros organization before beginning his career in education. Coach Buchanan is currently married to his beautiful wife Mary of 8 years. Together they have two children, Kayla (5) and Riley (4). 



  Coach DuRant is in his 4th year of coaching and his 2nd at Clear Brook. He is a native of Pearland, Texas where he played high school baseball and was nominated as an all-state pitcher in 1999. DuRant attended Blinn College for 2 years on a baseball scholarship. After Blinn, he was recruited to play ball at Texas State University. He then enlisted and served in the United States Air Force. DuRant graduated from The University of Texas at San Antonio. He is currently teaching Introduction to Engineering and Design. DuRant is married to his lovely wife Erica and together they have two children, Kyla (7) and Jaxen (2).
