BROOK BASEBALL 2013 COACHING STAFF
GENE FLORES
HEAD COACH
Gene Flores is in his 3rd year as Head Coach while spending 4 years as the Assistant. He is looking forward to a great 2013 season with a bunch of new faces and well-rounded student athletes.
Gene Flores was born and raised in Del Rio, Texas and played there up until his junior year before moving to Corpus Christi, Texas. He is the son of Gene and Raquel Flores who are both experienced in the education field. Gene Flores, Sr. is currently the Head Baseball Coach at Del Rio High School. While in Corpus Christi, he attended Moody High School for two years and helped the team to a State Tournament appearance in 2000. He was nominated as an All-State Pitcher in 1999 & 2000 for the Trojans. After Moody High School, he attended the University of Houston and played under Head Coach Rayner Noble for five years (2000-2005). He was named Honorable Mention Freshman All-American in 2001 and helped the Cougars to two super-regional appearances. In 2004 Coach Flores had hip surgery and in 2005 returned for his senior year. After pitching in the Boston Red Sox organization for one full season.After a year he returned to Houston and began his coaching career.
Coach Flores is married to Stacy Riley Flores and they have 2 younger sons, Trenton (5), Trace (2), and finally a little princess, Peyton (6 months).
TONY PONCE
ASSISTANT VARSITY COACH
Tony Ponce is a Freshmen Football Coach at Clear Brook, as well as the Varsity Assistant Baseball Coach. He comes to us from El Paso and graduated from New Mexico State University with a B.A. degree in History.
He has 17 years of coaching experience, including Head Baseball Coach at Chapin HS in El Paso. He served as an Assistant Coach at Houston Lamar and Fort Bend Elkins. Coach Ponce has officiated basketball at the high school and collegiate level for 24 years.
Coach Ponce's wife, Marshall, serves as the Head Counselor at Clear Creek HS. The couple have two children, Trey (9) and Meredith (7).
SEAN GRAVELY
ASSISTANT VARSITY COACH
Coach Gravely was born in New Orleans, Louisisana and raised in Houston, Texas. He attended and played at Sharpstown High School. Coach Gravely graduated from Texas Tech University in '96 and received his Masters from the University of Houston Clear Lake in '00. He coached professionally for the Dodgers as a Strength and Conditioning/Bench coach at Vero Beach Dodgers A and San Antonio Missions AA. He also coached with MLB Houston Astros as a Asst. Strength and Conditioning and Minor League Coordinator of Strength and Conditioning.
Coach Gravely teaches 8th Science and Tech Ed and coaches 8A & 7A Football, 7A Basketball at Brookside Intermediate. Coach Gravely is coming back to Brook Baseball for a second time, which he is truly excited to be a part of again. He has coached and taught in the district 12 years.
Coach Gravely and his wife, Cindy, have been married for 13 years. She too coaches and teaches at Seabrook Intermediate in the district. They have three children Jaelyn (16), Logan (10), and Grace (5).
RYAN DAVIES
JUNIOR VARSITY COACH
Ryan Davies grew up in Simi Valley, CA. He played baseball and volleyball in high school, and coaches both sports here at Brook. This is his third year coaching both sports. Coach Davies majored in Math Education at BYU, and got his masters in Education Administration at Lamar University. He teaches PLTW enfineering classes here at Brook. He helped coach the Sophomore baseball team to a district championship in 2009-2010.
Coach Davies has two red headed boys, Boston and Sammy, and is married to a beautiful Southern Belle, Mandy, from Kentucky. He and Mandy are expecting their third right after the season. He will fight anyone who says that the Yankees are better than the Red Sox.
AARON TROYER
SOPHOMORE COACH
Coach Troyer is in his 2nd year at Clear Brook High School and his 10th year coaching. He is a graduate of Texas A&M University and has a Master's degree from the University of Houston-Clear Lake. He teaches Special Education and also coaches wide receivers in football.
Coach Troyer and his wife Holly have been married for 12 years and have a 7 year old daughter, Natalie.
THOMAS (TJ) HEIDT
TJ is a recent graduate of Texas State University earning an Exercise and Sports Science degree with a History minor. He currently is a student teacher in the PE/Health department under the direction of Coach Brian Broussard.
TJ returns to his alma mater, Clear Brook High School Class of 2008, where he was a three year letterman in football and a two year letterman in baseball. His activities include weight lifting and golf.
