The Hottest Ticket In Town
The is going to be a mad rush when the tickets go on sale. It will be no place for the faint hearted, the old, young children, babies, the infirmed or the hobbled. Only "alpha" types with the speed of a cheetah, the strength of a lion, the gile of a snake will acheive their goal of securing the most sought after ticket of the year. It's not a ticket to see Bow Wow or Beyonce. It's a ticket to the
2007 Bronco Bash!
It's going to be off the hook! The Bash will take place shortly after the start of the season. The Bash is a strictly adult affair featuring adult fun and refreshments. This year the Bash will add a new feature. Be sure to start working out now because you are going to want to look good in your bikini or swim shorts. Coach Skip has already started working out. He says he's going to be "stripped down to fighting weight" when he sports his men's olympic style bikini swim wear.
The Bash is a fundraiser for the organization. Now you can have your fun and assist the organization in it's mission. More info coming soon.

Get Ready To Go To The Nationals!
The Broncos will be going back to Daytona Beach, Florida in November to seek National Championships in football and cheerleading. The last time the Broncos were at the Nationals, we won two Nationals Championships in football and our cheer squad won the National Cheerleading Championship in their division. As far as we are able to determined, we are the only organization in the Nashville area to win three National Championships in the same year.
We will be taking three teams and our cheer squad to Daytona Beach this year. The cost and additional information on the trip will be available at the camp. Teams from across the United States and Canada compete at the Nationals for the title of National Champion.

The annual Battle of Nashville will be held at Pearl-Cohn High School, the home field of the Broncos this year. The event will take place on Saturday, August 11, 2007 begining at 9:00 A.M. The event had been held at other locations for the past two years but now it's back where it began. The Battle of Nashville features non-stop action on the field. Each team entered plays a minimum of two games and this year there will definately be great food because it will be prepared by the great concession staff of the Broncos. It's said that the best fish sandwich in town comes from the Broncos concession stand. People drive from across town just to get one when they know the Broncos are playing at home.
Some of the best teams in middle Tennessee compete in this event. Also there will be teams from East Tennessee this year. If you are a coach, here is the bad news. There are only 11 slots left for teams in this event. If you want your team to enter, contact Coach Word immediately at 615-668-7424 or send an email to "coachword@aol.com".

West Nashville Coaches Attend Double Wing Symposium In Frisco, Texas
Bronco coaches have been away attenting the Double Wing Symposium in Frisco(Dallas), Texas. Over 200 coaches were in attendance. Our own Coach Word was again a member of the panel of five expert youth coaches chosen to instruct coaches from all over the United States in Double Wing offense and other topics such as practice management.
We had a great time, learned a lot to enhance our teams and had some fun. Some things shall forever stay in Frisco (you know how that is, what happens in Frisco stays in Frisco) however we will reveal a few things such as having BBQ with a bunch of other coaches at Randy White's BBQ. The highlight of the trip was when Mr. Cowboy himself, Tony Dorsett, kicked it with the Bronco coaches. Tony and his wife and kids were staying at the same hotel. Out of all the people there, he came over to us sat at our table and we all had a great time all evening talking football, laughing, sharing beverages and as the evening progressed telling stories that probally had no basis in fact. Later, as the short hand on the clock pointed to a place among the small numbers, once Tony left, people came over to us stating how much everyone in Texas loved Tony and they knew we must also be retired NFL players for Tony to kick it with us all night. Of course we didn't say we were in the league (that's our story and we're sticking to it) but we were viewed as celebrities for the rest of the night. It was a great event and learning experience. We wish everyone could have been there.
Here is a picture of Coach Word, Coach Kelii and Coach Pendergrass with Tony. Another photo will be added shortly but all other photos have been locked away in the Bronco vault and can only be released 50 years after our death in compliance with the Bronco coaches "Trip Policy" which is "Don't Show-Don't Tell".

AAA Broncos Grab National Title
Brandon Bull, Domonick VanNoy and Derek "Iceberg" Smith
Our AAA Broncos cruised into Daytona Beach, enjoyed the sunshine, ocean waves, beach and sand. They rode the "Hulk" at Universal Studios but when playtime was over, they handled their business. Our AAA Broncos mastered all their opponents earning the coveted "National Championship.
It got ugly fast for the opposing teams. Our offensive line was creating gaping holes in opponents defenses and our backs were constantly galloping across the goal lines. Our "Ain't Nuthin" defense was "air tight" not allowing any team to score. The blue and orange left Daytona with the gold while the opposing teams left with bad memories of being trampled by the Bronco herd.
Congratulations to all team members and the AAA coaching staff (Kelii Word-Head Coach and Assistant Coaches Jamie Dunn, Darryl Jackson and Ronnie Caudle).
BBB Broncos Capture National Championship
BBB Broncos in action
Our BBB Broncos are National Champions! The BBB (9-10 years old) team stampeded through its competition in Daytona Beach, Florida during the week of the Thanksgiving holiday to capture the crown. Teams from the United States and Canada came seeking the coveted trophy and title.
It wasn't pretty. It was like christians being thrown to the lions in ancient Rome and the Broncos were the lions. Team after team in the 10 Division tasted defeat after being pounded by the Bronco herd. The offense was in high gear as it ran over around and through opposing defenses and our defense delivered vicious hits game after game holding all teams scoreless.
The BBB Broncos fame spread far and wide prior to this event because the team has been traveling all season across state lines to play the best competition available, defeating teams that we were told had not been defeated in years. Congratulations to all the BBB Broncos especially our linemen and Coach Ron Word-Head Coach and his entire coaching staff (Phillip Booker, Mario Pinson, Shawn Puckett and David Wilson).

Bronco Cheerleaders Win National Championship
The Lady Broncos were "Da Bomb" in Daytona blowing away the competition. Our girls had the entire convention center, including the NFL Tampa Bay Buccaneer Cheerleaders rocking to the beat. Our Cheerleaders executed a flawless routine which captured first place in Dance and first place in Spirit. This catapulted the Lady Broncos to the Overall National Championship. The lady Broncos are under the direction of West Nashville's Chief Cheer Instructor, Sheletha Darvin and her assistant coaches.
Congratulations to our entire cheer staff for bringing home the gold from the Nationals and the Mid-State Cheer Competition.
Click here for a slideshow of photos from our trip to the 2005 Nationals.

In other words, our opponents have been held to an average of 3 points per game. What's the key to our success? Hard work by the kids and coaches and the strong support of parents and fans.

Louisville added to Bronco territory
The Broncos have extended their range north to Louisville Kentucky. The Bronco herd stampeded through what we were told was the best team in Kentucky and made it look easy. Not only have we extended our territory but also claimed the River City Classic Championship, our first championship of the 2005 season. Both our AAA (11-12) and BBB (9-10) teams were matched against teams with older players. Our AAA team played a team consisting of 12 thru 14 year old players while our BBB team was matched against a team of 10 thru 12 year olds. It didn't matter what age the other team was. The Broncos didn't make the trip to Louisville to come back empty handed. Now we look forward to claiming the MSYFL Conference and League Championships.

Broncos Head North To Extend Its Empire
The Bronco herd will be heading north to Louisville, Kentucky to extend its empire of domination.
Like Alexander the Great, the Broncos have conquered every team standing along
I-65 North. Salvation Army, Jess Neely, Gra Mar, Madison and Goodlettsville have all been trampled under a Bronco stampede. Now we will extend our range further north by trampling any team in our way at the River City Classic. Bronco AAA and BBB teams will be running free at the Classic on Sunday, September 4, 2005.

Broncos Mourn The Loss Of Coach Chuck
Coach Chuck Sprowl 9/14/53 - 5/4/05
West Nashville Youth Sports is reeling from the sudden loss of Coach Chuck Sprowl. Chuck passed from this life due to natural causes suddenly on May 4, 2005. Coach Chuck was one of the original founders of our organization and was loved by both players and parents. Chuck always had a smile for everyone. He was affectionaly called the "Resource" coach because he was often called upon to work with our kids that were having problems learning game fundamentals, plays etc and our "Git Back" coach because on game day he would insure that the kids were off the sideline by saying "Ya'll get back" as he moved along the line. Chuck was an assistant coach for our Division Championship BBB team at the time of his death. He also was an Assistant Coach of our 2002 MSYFL League Champion CCC team. Chuck had a love for "his kids" and this organization which was surpassed only by his love of God, his wife and family.
On those rare occasions when he was out of town, he would always call to find out the score and see how his kids performed. Chuck worked tirelessly for the benefit and growth of our organization not just during the season but all year long.
During 2004, Chuck became the Head Coach of our 10/11/12 year old basketball team and in its first year lead them to the league championship game where the team lost in overtime. This was a sensational achievement for a team during its first season.
Chuck is survived by his wife Tanza (our Consessions Manager), three children, one grandson and a host of devoted family members and freinds. Chuck may be gone from us but he won't be forgotten. We are going to miss him greatly.

Fantastic Banquet For Broncos Completes 2004
Chris Sanders
The Broncos ended their 2004 season in style with a fantastic awards banquet at the Millenium Maxwell House Hotel. The Hotel's Grande Ballroom was filled to capacity. Over 420 Bronco players, parents and fans were in attendance. The ballroom was beautifully decorated by the artisans from Elegant Occasions, a Bronco sponsor. Everyone enjoyed a great four course meal with a selections of two types of entrees. Our players, cheerleaders, coaches and others received beautiful, trophies, plaques, certificates and other types of awards.
The highlight of the evening was the presentations by former Titans Mike Jones and Chris Sanders. Mike gave an excellent address titled "A Game Plan For Life". Chris enthralled the crowd with a powerful motivational message titled "Destined For Greatness". Both Mike and Chris received standing ovations.
Additional photos from the banquet will be posted shortly.
BBB And BB Broncos Going To The "Ship"
Our BBB and BB Broncos will be representing West Nashville In the Mid-State Youth Football League Championships in Franklin, Tennessee On November 20th.
The BB Broncos were able to put away their opponent early however it was a different story for the BBB Broncos who had to overcome the always tough Maury County Bulldogs to earn their way into the championship.
It was one of the best games ever and it will definately go down in Bronco history. The game was tied 0-0 at the end of regulation. It had been a hard fought game. Our offense sputtered all game long and the Bulldog defense was tenancious. The Bulldogs had at least four opportunites to score being inside the Broncos 10 yard line with first downs on four separate occasions. However our defense was up to the challange and stooped the Bulldogs each time.
The game went into over-time. The Broncos won the toss and elected to go on defense. Coach Word stated that he chose defense because our defense had been playing well and he knew that if we could stop them from scoring he felt we would score and win the game. He was right. Our defense stepped up an stopped the Bulldogs from scoring and our offense got the ball. On the first play from scrimmage our kids executed our "crunch" play to perfectiona and our QB, Jeremy Patton sailed into the endzone scoring the winning TD in a hard fought game. Broncos win 6-0 and were in the league championship.

Bronco Teams Roll In Playoffs
Broncos teams pounded their opponents during the quarter-final round of the playoffs and are now headed into the semi-final round. Our AAA, AA, BBB, BB and CCC teams sent teams to hang up their cleats. Unfortunately our CC team lost a close on to Una 7-0 and our Pee Wee lost to Murfreesboro 13-7.
Our AAA, BBB, CCC will play at Spring Hill High School in Spring Hill, Tennessee on Saturday while our AA and BB teams will be playing at Stratford High School here in Nashville. If you are a Broncos fan, be sure to attend the games and support your teams. See you at "the ships".
Broncos Win 5 Conference Championships
Bronco teams galloped their way to 5 Conference Championships during the 2004 season. Bronco teams won titles in the AAA, BBB, CCC, BB and CC divisions. Five of our seven teams are champs and the other two are mid-level seeds in the playoffs.
Was it amazing? Yes but only to the uninformed. We had been a Division II program and won championships in that Division. Suddenly the powers that be decided that the Broncos should be moved up to play the huge jugganants, the most powerful teams from throughout entire league. The Broncos were to compete with the strongest, most talented teams in Middle Tennessee. Some of the leagues "old timers" said we wouldn't win a game. At the league meeting when it was announced that we were being placed in Division I, Coach Word told the assembled gathering that "We aren't scared to go to Division I but all you guys should be afraid, be very afraid because the Broncos are comming after you". Actually, other larger programs should have been placed in Division I before the our Broncos.
Now that we have proved all the naysayers wrong, it on to the playoffs.

BB Broncos Finish Regular Season 8-0
Congratulation to the BB Broncos who finished the season Undefeated. The BB Broncos cut through the best teams in the MSYFL like a hot knife through butter. Now on to the playoffs.

Bulldogs More Bark Than Bite
The Waverly-Belmont Bulldogs, a huge powerhouse in the Mid-State Youth Football League was transformed from a snarling canine into a docile lapdog with it's tail between it's legs by our Broncos. Bronco teams won 6 of the 7 games played at the Bulldogs home field on Saturday and in the process won 5 Conference Championships.

Have You seen the Broncos AAA Cheerleaders..."WOW"
If you haven't seen the Bronco's AAA Cheerleaders you have missed a treat. The AAA Bronco cheerleaders really keep the crowd "hyped" when they are performing. You should have seen them perform at Una. The entire crowd, including the Una fans were on there feet groovin' to the beat. Our cheerleaders put on a show. It looks like Coach Salethia has her squad primed an ready for the Mid-State Cheer Championships which will take place next month. YOU GO GIRLS.

Broncos Set To Grab 5 Division "Ships"
They said we couldn't do it. No Division II team could ever come into Division I and win a single game against the huge powerhouses of the league. However the Broncos have done what they said was impossible. Division I is reeling from the impact of the Broncos entering Division I. Five of West Nashville's seven teams are set to win Division I Conference Championships. The Bronco teams are led by our undefeated BB broncos (5-0). Our AAA (4-1), BBB (4-1) and CCC (4-1) and CC Broncos are all at the top of their conference standings.
Coach Kelii stated months ago before the start of the season that we would be the first organization to "unify the title" by winning championships in both Divisions because "We are pound for pound the best teams around". Obviously he was right.

Our BB Broncos are tearing up the league. They are 3-0 and looking to extend that winning streak by galloping over the Jess Neely Jaquars during our Homecoming on Saturday. Previous victims of the Bronco attack are the Una Bears, Gra-Mar Pirates and Lavergne Wolverines.
Coaches Pat, Rodney and Sanders are doing a great job. The kids are really proving that they are the dominate team in the league. It looks like they will be bringing home the championship trophy at the end of the season
Saturday, October 2
Jaquar Meat....Uuuuummm Good
On Thursday immediately after practice the Broncos dined at the field as part of our Homecoming Week activities. The main entree was Jaquar meat pizza. Over 300 slices of pizza was served to Bronco players and cheerleaders. When the question was asked, "What do we eat?" The immediate response was "Jaquar meat". When asked what does Jaquar meat taste like, the answer came back "Chicken". The Broncos are poised to gallop all over the Jaquars on Saturday.
Thursday, October 14
Broncos outscore Lavergne By 102 Points
It ws not a good day for the Lavergne Wolverines when the Bronco herd came galloping through the Wolverines home field. Bronco teams scored 115 points while only allowing the Wolverines to score 13 points during the games. Seven games were played. The Wolverines were held scoreless during six of the seven games. Lavergne scored all of its points for the day against the Bronco Pee Wee (5-6 year olds) team. The Bronco herd is now looking to run through its remaining opponents leading up to the playoffs.
Wednesday, September 29

Broncos Now In Division I
The worst fear of teams in Division I has happened. The Broncos will be a member of Division I for the 2004 season. Waverly Belmont's, Una's, Lavergne's, Maury County's, Gra Mar's, NCC's and Jess Neely's worst nightmare has come true. When it was announced at the June league meeting that the Broncos would be a Div.I team big smiles broke out of the faces of Division II community representatives from Murfreesboro, Grassland and Salvation Army. It was pure jubilation. Each one had suffered multiple defeats by the Broncos over the years and they had little hope of ever being the Div II league champions while the Broncos were there. Now these pertenders to the throne can fight over the Broncos abandoned kingdom. On the other hand the Division I representatives seemed worried because there will be nowhere to run and nowhere to hide.
Now there is no joy among Division I teams. The new sheriff has come to town. The Broncos say to all the other teams - Get ready! Get Ready! Get Ready!! The Broncos will be bringing the whuppin, y'all bring the you know what.
Our New Look For 2004
The Broncos will be "lookin' good, like a steak to a starving man" when they hit the field this year. Our "Triple Level" teams (AAA, BBB, CCC) will be sporting navy blue helmets with our logo, Denver orange pants, orange socks and a custom made navy blue and orange jersey. All other Bronco teams will take the field in a solid navy blue jersey, navy blue helmets with our logo and contrasting pants.
Our broncos look sharp every year. We will dominate the field with both our play and style during the 2004 season.

Actually, there are two new T-shirts. The front of the both shirts are the same. It's what's printed on the back of the shirt that makes the difference. We want you to be surprised when you see the back of the shirt. People who have had the good fortune to see the back of the new "Adult" shirt say it's "da bomb".
Coach Kelii is modeling the new shirt. He's also showing off his new 2004 game face.

Broncos End Year With Fantastic Awards Banquet
The Broncos celebrated the end of a fabulous year with a gala awards banquet at the luxurious Millenium Maxwell House Hotel. Almost 400 Bronco players, cheerleaders, coaches, parents and fans attend the well planned event. The venue was beautifully decorated with swirled blue & white balloon columns placed throughout. Each table was covered with a white tablecloth accented with navy blue napkins, hurricane lamps and football shaped foil Bronco balloons floating over each table. A balloon arch floated over the head table. Orange progams were placed on each table to complete the beautiful place settings. All balloon art and decorations were provided by Elegant Balloon Designs, a company owned by Ron & Chris Word.
When guest arrived they were treated to a beautiful view of the city from the 10th floor of the hotel where they checked in at our reception table flanked by team color "balloon trees".
A great 3 course meal with multiple beverages was served by the attentive waiters. There were a number of special guest who attended the banquet such as Back to Back High School State Championship coach Maurice Fitzgerald.
All our kids and coaches received beautiful trophies and plaques. In short it was a grand affair. I hope you didn't miss it.
CCC Broncos Win National Championship
The Bronco organization is not only one of the best youth football organization in the state of Tennessee but in the entire USA. Our CCC and BBB teams traveled to Daytona Beach, Flordia to play for the National Championship. The games begun on Thanksgiving Day. There were 95 teams from all over the country in Daytonya. All of them had their sights on being a National Champion.
Our BBB Broncos were unable to bring home the gold but our CCC Broncos were "The Truth". Our team manhandled all their competition cutting a swath through teams from other states "like a hot knife going through butter. Not only did our CCC Broncos terrorize all the other teams in their division by exhibiting superior play but we also had a lot of fun. Both our teams and cheerleaders had a great time at Universal Isle Of Adventure.
The CCC coaching staff (Head Coach Dave Wilson and Assistant Coaches Shawn Puckett, Keith Mays and Lamont Jordan) did a fantastic job this year. Coach Mays summed it all up when he stated after winning the game for the National Championship,"This is a great accomplishment not just for the CCC Broncos but for our entire organization".
We are currently in the process of placing photos from the trip on the web site. Keep checking for new photos. Also remember to tell everyone "IF YOU WANT TO BE THE BEST, YOU GOT TO PLAY OUT WEST".
An Awesome Year Comes to a Close
2003 was a great year for the Broncos. We continue to improve in all aspects of our organization. During the past season our football teams captured 3 Division Championships, 2 State Championships and one National Championship. Our cheerleadears secured an overall 4th place finish in the MSYFL Cheer Competition and represented us well at the 2003 National Cheer Competition. We increased our football teams from 4 to 7. We made it possible to take two teams to Daytona Beach, Florida. We are making plans to form basketball teams to enter competition during the 2004 season.
We could not have achieved these without the help of our parents, coaches, fans and others who worked hard all year long to make our organization the best youth sports organization in middle Tennessee. We want to thank our coaches, supporters, the staff at Pearl-Cohn High School for the use of their facilities. Most of all we want to extend our appreciation to our parents who entrusted their most valuable possesion (their children) to our care. Thanks to everyone who worked in the concession stand, helped clean the stadium after our games and often worked past 11:00 P.M. Thanks to all of you who worked hard to raise funds for our kids. Thanks to our sponsors and supporters. Thanks to all the persons who made a financial contribution. Thanks to those who brought snacks for our kids. The list could go on and on but we would probally still leave out someone.
Let us simply say, THANKS TO EVERYONE FOR WHATEVER CONTRIBUTION YOU MADE TO MAKE 2003 A SUCCESS.
Our AAA Broncos proved they are the best 11-12 year old team in the state by defeating the Tennessee Youth Football Alliance AAA Champions 25-19. Our Broncos won the State title even though one of the teams leading rushers, Lamont McLaurine, who is also the starting quarterback, was unable to play during the second half due to severe back pain. Jaqua Johnson stepped in as the backup QB and did a fine job. Our "Money back", James Short, consistantly slashed the Trojan defense while our defense stopped the Trojans when it had to be done.
Congratulations to Coach Kelii Word and staff for bring home a second State Championship to West Nashville.
Photos will be posted shortly. Don't miss the TV broadcast of the State Championshp games on Comcast Sports South (CSS) channel on December 7th at 12:30 P.M.
CCC Broncos Win State Crown
It's Official!!!! Our CCC (7/8)are the best team in their age group in the state. Of Course we Bronco fans knew that a long time ago but now everyone knows it. Our CCC Broncos won the State Championship on November 15th at Gaylord Hotels Youth Football Classic by defeating a determined Goodlettsville Trojan team from the TYFA league 7-0 in overtime. This game was the best game of all games played.
The day was wet and cold. The field the game was played on was not in the best of condition. Our Broncos offense sputtered for most of the game only showing flashes of their explosive power but they were unable to score during the first half. The Goodlettsville team was proving to be a tough nut to crack. The defense was solid and the Trojans were not able to score. After a coaches strategy session, our kids begin to move the ball consistantly up the field during the fourth quarter by pounding the ball inside however time ran out before they could score.
Overtime begin with the Broncos on offense. We were able to score and get the "extra point". The Broncos "Ain't Nuthin" defense held for three downs and Charles Davis closed out the game with a crushing 4th down sack of the Trojan quarterback. Game Over!!!. The Broncos victory. Be sure to be in front of your TV set on December 7th at 12:30 P.M. wathcing the Comcast Sports South channel (CSS. We're sure your going to see our Broncos during the taped replay of the State Championships.
Photos will be posted shortly.
TYFA Champions Decimated In State "Ship"
It was a sad day day for TYFA (Tennessee Youth Football League) as its teams were decimated in the Youth Football Classic by the powerful teams from our league, Mid-State Youth Football League. The Classic is sponosered by the Tennessee Sports Council and the Gaylord Music City Bowl presented by Bridgestone to crown the state champions of youth football in Tennessee.
There had been a bit of speculation about which league was the best by some of the TYFA faithful who are zealous devotees of their league. However there is no longer any doubt which league is the premire youth football league in Tennessee and their faith has been shattered. Our Mid-State teams (including our Broncos) dominated game after game against their TYFA opponents. At the end of the day, Mid-State teams had won 13 of the 16 games played. The only games won by TYFA teams were "lower level" games such as the Jr. Pee Wee
(5-6 year old)division.
"The word on da street" is that some former Mid-State League communities that fled to TYFA left because they could not compete or did not want to play some of the best teams in the state week after week. One former TYFA coach who played one of our Bronco teams stated that "they ran into a buzzsaw". Another former coach stated "Going from TYFA to playing in Mid-State is like going from playing in the OVC to playing in the SEC or NFL".
At our league credentials meeting prior to the championships our coaches were told don't run the score up on the TYFA teams because there was no "mercy rule" in the state championships.
The best game of the entire Championships was our own CCC Broncos vs a very determined Goodlettsville Trojans team. The game went into overtime before our Broncos claimed the victory.
At the end of the day both of our Bronco teams brought home State Championships.
Broncos Raid Shelbyville Eagles Nest
The Broncos made the road trip to Shelbyville and came away with four victories. Our Jr. Pee Wee, CCC, BBB and AAA Teams sent feathers flying in all directions. Shelbyville always has good kids and good coaching. Victories over the Eagles don't come easy. They are always contenders for the League Championship. We never expect easy wins when we play the Eagles.
The Broncos left Shelbyville missing a few feathers when we headed back to Nashville at the end of the day. We really enjoy going to play the Eagles. They have a great organization both on and off the field.
Broncos Pound Murfreesboro 122-0
The Murfreesboro Blue Raiders got a lesson in how to play the game of football when our CCC (7-8), BBB (9-10) and AAA (11-12) visited Barfield Crescent Park, the home field of the Blue Raiders. A few of the Raider coaches had been telling us how good they were when they played in another league. They were reminded that what they were doing was tantamount to going from the OVC or Sunbelt Conference to play in the SEC. One Raider coach stated that they could play with anyone. Obviously, they weren't able to play with the Broncos.
Things got ugly in a hurry for the Raiders when they were pounded by our CCC Broncs 33-0. Our BBB Broncos stampeded over the BBB Raiders 44-0 and our AAA Broncos punished the AAA Eaiders 45-0. That's a total of 122 points scored by the Broncos offenses and three shoutout by our defenses. Our Single B broncos had pounded the Raiders two weeks earlier. It was a very long day for the Blue Raiders. Photos from the game will be posted on our albums page shortly.
Bronco Teams Off And Running For State Championships
Bronco teams are off and running for our league and state championships. Here are the standings.
As you can see, our "Triple" teams are all undefeated and all other Bronco teams with the exception of the varsity team is at least 500%. It looks like this is going to be a excellent year for the Broncos.

Pee Wee Broncos On National TV Show Titans How To Win
Our own pee wee Broncos were on National TV. The pee wee Broncos played at halftime of the Titans vs. Buffalo Bills game August 16th. Our pee wees showed the Tennessee Titans (McNair, George and company how to win). Our pee wee Broncos stopped their opponents in their tracks with tenacious defense then unleashed their powerful "shock & awe" offense to overwhelm their competition. Apparently the Titans learned a thing or two and managed to defeat the Bills.
Watch out Titans. The pee wee Broncos are loose.

It Looks Like It's Going To Be Great Season
Football and cheerleading time is here. How we all love the sounds of high pitched voices chanting in unison, pads hitting shileds, the grunts, groans and the music. What's more beautiful than a high basket toss or a football in air flying forty yards downfield in a tight spiral.
It looks like it will be a great season for Broncos football and cheerleading. We have many returning players and cheerleadears and a good looking bunch of newcomers. We have increased the number of teams we will put on the field this year from five to seven. Our cheerleaders are looking good with exciting new routines and we have a great group of parents and fans. 2003 is going to be a banner year for the West Nashville.
Did you pack the turkey?
If everything goes according to plan, a couple of Bronco teams, cheerleaders, coaches, parents and friends will be basking in the Florida sun at the 2003 Nationals during "Thanksgiving week" this November. We'll post more details about the trip shortly.

Clay Shines In The National Punt, Pass & Kick Competition
Our own Clay Cunningham represented Tennessee in the national Punt, Pass and Kick competition. Clay did a great job advancing through the local and state competition to the regionals. Clay is a member of our AAA (11-12)Broncos. He's a great young man and we are looking forward to having Clay as a member of our Varsity team during the 2003 season. Maybe next year we'll all see Clay receiving the national trophy on TV.

Library For Coaches Established
A library has been established for West Nashville coaches. The purpose of the library is to provide our coaches an opportunity to become better at their craft. Coaches who study the game can better assist our kids to becoming proficient at performing the skills necessary to become superior football players and cheerleaders.
Library materials consist of books and video tapes. There is a bibliography of recommended reading materials. Also there is a list of web sites that feature pertinent information for coaches. Check our "News For Coaches" page each month for the recommended library selection.
Any West Nashville coach that desires to borrow materials from the library should contact Coach Ron Word.

Happy Holidays
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to the entire Bronco family.
The End Of A Great Year - Thank You
Its been a great year for the entire West Nashville organizaton. We fielded five teams and had 32 cheerleaders. In our first year in one of the most powerful leagues in the state, three of our teams made the playoffs and one became a league champion. We could not have achieved this without the hard work of our kids, coaches, parents and supporters. We want to say thank you to our sponsors and everyone who helped make our year a success.
We are looking foward to the 2003 season. Visit this site often to keep up with what's going on throughtout the year.
CCC Broncos Capture League Championship
The day was the coldest day of the season. The sky was gray. The stands were filled with fans. Camcorders were rolling when our Bronocs came into Hillwood Stadium, te site of the league championship series. The weather was cold but our kids were "fired up" with the desire to be the league champion. Our team and coaching staff was confident in their ability to get the job done.
As we gazed upon the powerful Woodbine team across the field, the epic battles of the past came to mind. We were the "underdogs". At least that's what the Woobine team and fans thought. Itwas a familiar role. We had been cast as "underdogs" all season but we knew we were the best team on the field.
Our Broncos stampeded over the Woodbine team 21-0. Our offensive line punched huge holes in the Woodbine defensive wall and our backs ran over, around and through defenders. Our defense was superb and our kids on defense definatley brougt their "A" game to te field. They taught the Woodbine QB the meaning of the term "sack".
When the final seconds ticked off the clock, there was a huge celebration by the team and our fans. We had done what many said was impossible for us to do. We had won the Mid-State Youth Football League Championship.

Get Your Noisemakers Ready!
We've got great fans and we want everyone to know it at the Championship game at Hillwood High School on Saturday. We want our fans to dress in our team colors if possible and MAKE A LOT OF NOISE FOR THE BRONCOS. Get your voices and air horns ready. Don't have an air horn? Here's a great idea for a wonderful noisemaker.
Get an empty 2 liter plastic soda bottle. Drop a few pennies into the bottle then screw the top back on. When you shake it vigrously, it makes a loud racket. It's easy, cheap and everyone will know you are there supporting the Broncos when you shake it. You can also do the same thing with a plastic milk jug but you have to secure the top with tape.
Friday, November 15
Dress Warm For The Weather
The forcast for the Championship games is wet and cold. The weatherman is stating that the high will only be 41 with rain and maybe a few snow flurries. This is far from our usual weather this time of year which is 60 degrees and sunny. By the time we play our game (4:00 p.m.), the temperature maybe in the thirties. Parents, please make sure your Bronco or cheerleader is adequately dressed.

CCC Broncos In M.S.Y.F.L Championship Finals
We were told that it could never happen. No Way! No How! We were told that our team would be "lunch meat" for the powerful teams in the league and that we could not compete. Only the true believers, the Bronco coaching staff, players, parents and fans knew the truth. Now everyone else knows what we knew from the start. We knew we had an excellent coaching staff, supportive parents and a great bunch of kids. On Saturday, November 16,2002, we will play the Division II league Championship. The Championship game will be played at Hillwood High School in Nashville, Tennessee at 4:00 P.M. We want all Bronco friends, fans, parents and supporters to come to the game. Bring your noise makers, wear our colors (navy blue & orange,if possible) and come to cheer the Broncos to victory.

CCC Broncos Stop Eagles For Semi-Final Playoff Win!
Our Broncos had a huge task before them. There was only one way to get to the league championship game and that meant that we had to beat the Eagles so we made te long drive to the Eagle's nesting place. The Eagles are one of the "class teams" in the league with an 8-1 record. Everyone knew that it was going to be a great game going down to the last seconds and it lived up to its billing.
Briefly, Here's what happened: The Broncos received the kickoff and marched downfield to the Eagles 15 yard line. Suddenly, we were hit with three major penalties on three consecutive plays which moved the ball back to about the 40 yard line and the drive floundered. The Eagles moved the ball but the Bronco defense held and forced a punt. With excellent blocking by the entire Bronco O-line and the hard running of Darrius Darden, Quindell Cousin, Arkaylus Thomas and Mike Sykes, we scored a TD in the 1st quarter and one early in the second to take a 12-0 lead. However, the Eagles came roaring back led by the running of number 27 (I don't have his name). He's a big strong kid that was "nuthin but trouble" for the Bronco defense and at half-time the score was tied 12-12.
At half-time the Bronco coaches huddled to determine how to stiffle the Eagles attack. Number 27 had to be stopped. Assistant Coach Dave Wilson had a plan.
The 3rd quarter began with the Bronco defense stopping the Eagles (Coach Dave's plan worked). We then marched downfield to score another TD. The score was now 18-12. The rest of the third quarter and most of the 4th was a see-saw battle. Late in the 4th an Eagle broke a long run and it looked as if he would score. Our secondary finally ran him down at the one yard line. When the Eagle back was tackled he fumbled the ball into the end zone and it was recovered by the Broncos for a touchback. The ball was brought out to the 20 yard line however the Bronco drive stalled and we had to punt. There was over two minutes left in the game. The Eagles started driving downfield. It looked like it might be another miracle finish for the Eagles. Our defense finally managed to stop the Eagles on about our 30 yard line with five seconds remaining in the game. The Broncos let the clock run out and took he victory.
Here our list of "You Go Boys":
The entire Bronco team for a great game.
Our O-Line for getting the job done.
Our Defense for holding when they had
to do it, especially he D-Line (Shaquille
Tomaz,Jeremy, Devin, Darrius G and Derek)
Our thundering herd of runners listed
above who got the "five tough yards when
we needed them.
A special salute to Devin "Diesel" Haynes. He had what is probably his best game ever. Our fans were chanting his name, "Diesel, Diesel" from the stands for his great play. A special salute also goes out to Jeremy Knight who was "pancaking" Eagle defenders all over the field. Devin and Jeremy along with a supporting cast, the other D and
O-line members, made it a miserable day for the Eagles with a number of tackles in the backfield and forcing a couple of fumbles.
After the game at the field players, parents and Coaches celebrated. The team water cooler was dumped on Coach Word. He never saw it coming. After celebrating at the field, all players were treated to an "all you can eat" pizza buffet at CiCi's pizza.
Now it's on to the Championship game. We're going to "Da Big Show" baby!
Offense scores points. Defense wins games!

Team - Can You Define It?
"TEAM" - It's a simple word. It is composed of only four letters. Yet if you take away any one of those letters, you no longer have "team". Often the "T" is capitalized. It gets the most attention but it would only be "t" without the support of the other letters. Each letter has a role to play, an essential role. The wrestler "The Rock" would tell other wrestlers "know your role". Our team (CCC Broncos)is a perfect example. We have kids who's names have not appeared often in the articles on this site but who have been the outstanding role players that have made our team a success. Below are the kids that form the "eam" of our team. Without them, we definately would not be going to the League Championship Game.
William Bradley (DE/TE)- We depend upon Will to contain the most dangerous play in youth football, the "sweep". If you can't shut down the outside, you can kiss your season good-by. Will plays on the left side where most of the opponents plays are usually aimed. He is consistent and dependable. With Will in the game, we don't worry about anything getting outside. When he had to attend a family wedding and miss a game, we lost. Will also adds offenseive punch to our attack. He's a good blocker and receiver. Will scored a TD against Warren County and had a fumble recovery in our big victory against the Eagles. He knows his role.
Michael Wilson (OL/DL/DB)-I know it's an unusal combination of postions but that's Mike. When you look at him, he's tall and slim, the kind of kid that would be lunch for the big D-line kids in this league. Mike has something that a lot of other kids don't have at this age, tenacity. Most of all, he plays with it. He also fills in a CB and does a good job. He knows his role.
Shaquille Sublett (C/OL/DL)- Shaquille is probably the smallest center in the league and in our opinion the most effective. He performs his job well and we have not had significant defensive pressure from opposite his position. He also performs well at a variety of other positions. He knows his role.
Shawn Puckett (DE/WB)-Shawn plays opposite of Will Bradley as our other DE. His play is consistent . He gets the job done and is seldom caught out of position. Shawn also plays is our back-up at WB. He's not had a fumble all year. He knows his role.
ShaQuan "Big Twin" Mayes (OL/DL)- He's one of our dynamic twin package of DaQuan and ShaQuan Mays. He holds down the left tackle spot and makes our left side secure. He's not yet reached his full potential. When he does watch out, he'll be trouble for opponents. He knows his role.
Cedric Cole (E/DE)- This is Cedric's second year with our team. His improved play and starting position is evidence of his growth as a player. He is one of our offensive starters at end and in our offense is most often required to block DTs and LBs much larger than himself. He gets the job done. He knows his role.
Zabian King (OL/DL)- After being sidelined with an early season injury, "Za" has returned with a vengence. He hits hard and loves the game. I would not be surprised to see him at FB next year. He knows his role.
Jeremy Patton (QB/DB)- Jeremy is our back-up QB and starting safety. He would probably be the starting QB on many of the other teams in the league. He's grown content with his new role. He's swift and a hard, sure tackler. He made the tackle on the one yard line and forced a fumble which may have been th most critical play in the game against the Eagles. He knows his role.
Jamie Dunn (FB)- Jaime is our back-up FB. He's still in the learning mode but is doing well. Jamie usually runs our extra point attempts. Jamie is probably going to be a starter next year. He knows his role.
Darrius Darden (WB/LB/DB)- Darrius is an all purpose player. He backs up Arkaylus Thomas at WB. He's quick and hits the hole with authority. We don't miss a beat with Darrius in at wing. He's also a good defensive player at LB and CB. He knows his role.
Tomaz Kerley (DL/OL)- Tomaz has been a consistant performer at DT. Although he's small for the position, he has a knack for getting into the backfield and disrupting our opponents offense. He loves the game and plays with a lust for contact. He knows his role.
David Wilson (QB/LB)-David is our starting QB which is quite a feat at this level of play when you take into consideration he is only 7 years old. David earned his way into the starting role. Upon first glance you might say he don't have what it takes but he proved that he does. The QB doesn't get a lot of glory in our offense. They have to be smart, dependable and consistant. David is all the above.
Jelani Robinson (Punter/DL)-Jelani is another 7 year old that has big responsibilities. He is our punter and has performed well at the position all year. Next year he'll be bigger and stronger which will befinately increase his ability to punt the ball. He knows his role.
Finally there's Jerron Tinker, MarQuelle Johnson, Aaron Bachelor, DaQuan "Little Twin" Mays, Michael Davis, Kevin Boston-Bentley, Ade Cleaves. These are kids who most often played as the scout team offense and defense and didn't get a lot of playing time. Most of them just came up this year from Pee Wee (5-6). Some had absolutely no previous football experience. I have nothing but respect for these kids and their parents. These kids went from no experience to playing at the league's highest level (triple letter designated teams). They had to line up against the biggest, fastest most experienced kids in their age group on league teams week after week. Worst of all, they had to line up against the Bronco starting offense and defense day after day (which some coaches of other teams we've played would consider cruel and unusual punishment). If they were at other programs they would be getting a lot more playing time or starting on single or double letter designated teams but they chose to be a Bronco instead. They are always faithful. They know their roles.
When you want to write the definition of the word "team" in the future, just write "West Nashville CCC Broncos".

CCC Broncos Pound Springfield 28-0 In Playoff Quarter-Finals
Our CCC Broncos earned their way to be one of the final four in the semi-finals of the M.S.Y.F.L. Championship. Springfield was no match for our team. The game was played "under the lights" at the stadium on a chilly night but there was plenty of fire in the Bronco offense and defense.
Things got off to an excellent start when Mike Skyes scored on a 40 yard run on the very first play from scrimmage. After that, things got ugly fast for the Springfield defense. Our ponies ripped their defense at will behind the superior blocking of our offensive line. Arkaylus Thomas, Jeremy Patton and Quindell Cousins also scored TDs. Jamie Dunn added extra points.
Devin Haynes, Jeremy Knight and the rest of the Bronco linemen were superb on both offense and defense. Everyone did a great job. As a matter of fact Springfield decided to call it quits at halftime rather than face another quarter of the Bronco attack.
It's on to the semi-finals next weekend.

CCC Broncos Maul Warren County 44-0
It was a sad day in McMinnville when the CCC Broncos left town headed back to the range on Saturday, October 26th. Our Broncos had ripped through the Titan defense for 44 points. It is near Halloween and I know this was scary for the Titan faithful. Arkaylus Thomas, Mike Sykes, Jeremy Patton and Quindell "Q" Cousins were up to their old tricks of scoring TDs. Dave Wilson ran in his first TD of the year.
Jamie Dunn added some extra points to the total. Our O line deserves a "high five" for punching huge holes in the Titan front for our back to run through. They were all outstanding.
Our defense was rock solid. Devin Haynes, the D lineman of the year in 2001, had not been heard from in a while but had a stand out game with a sack and numerous tackles in the Titan backfield. The rest of the D joined Devin in making it a miserable day for the Titan backs. Darius Darden picked off a Titan pass and ran it back in for a score when "Big Twin" Mays put a hard hit on the QB.
Our reserves played most of the 2nd and 3rd quarters and did a fine job. It looks like our Broncos are ready for the playoffs.
Halloween At The Park
If you don't want to make the long drive to the malls to trick-o-treat, then don't. The Broncos are having trick-o-treat for for all our kids here at the park. There will be candy, other treats and maybe even a trick or two.
One team may not get to take part in the activities, the AAA Broncos. Coach Skip, their hype (think touchdown boogie coordinator)coach said this will be a playoff week and his kids need to use the time to practice their "Harlem Shake" cause he's got two kids that have no rhythm. (Just kidding). It should be a great time for everyone.
BB Broncos End Regular Season With Win Over Lavergne
Our BB Broncos made it two in a row by defeating the Lavergne Wolverines on Saturday, October 26th. Coach Ivy stated that it was a great game. I don't have any details at this time as soon as I do, this article will be updated.
Sunday, October 27
AAA Broncos Pound Warren County 31-7
Our 11-12 (AAA) Bronocs showed the Warren County Titans what the game of football is all about. The entire team played great. The combination of hard running, crisp passing, solid blocking and vicious tackling was too much for the Titans to handle.
JaJuan Moore an Lamar McLaurin teamed up to produce most of the Bronco scoring, including two beatiful pass plays that went fpr TDs. Larmar had watched his older brother Maurice have an outstanding game on Friday night as a member of the Pearl-Cohn High School varsity team. Lamar's coach Kelii Word asked him if he was going to let his have the best game this week. Larmar responded by throwing for two TDs and running for one. He also had a great defensive game. Jajuan Brooks had his best game of the season catching a couple of long passes for scores. "House" continued his solid play on defense.
Coach Kelii says that his team is peaking just in time to make a strong run during the playoffs.
Sunday, October 20
AAA Broncos Blast Eagles 38-0
Our AAA (11-12) Broncos spanked the Shelbyville Eagles 38-0 on Saturday. Our Broncos had the feathers flying all over the field. The kids dominated the field. James Short and Lamar McLaurin showed the Eagles how to run hard behind the great blocking of the offensive line and the Bronco "Enforcers" defense completely shut down the Eagles offense. The game was stopped at the end of the 3rd quarter by the "mercy rule". The entire AAA coaching staff was all smiles after this game. Coach Kelii stated "the team is peaking at just the right time to make a strong run in the playoffs" The team hype coach (think touchdown boogie coordinator) Skip "Drop It Like It's Hot" Word said he wanted to have the team show off his latest creative effort but time ran out. Way to go Broncos
Sunday, October 20
BB Broncos Down Gra-Mar 6-0
Our BB (9-10) Broncos were at Gra-Mar on Saturday. The Gra-Mar Pirates are a perennial powerhouse in the Mid-State League. The Pirates were confident of a victory because our BB Broncos are a first year team in the League and they have struggled for most of the season. However our kids were able to blunt the strong offense of the Pirates and secure a shutout win. It was a great win. Coach Ivy stated, "My kids have been improving each week". It was a win that the BB Broncos can savor. Our BB Broncos will be at Lavergne on Saturday, October 26th.

CCC Broncos Ambushed At Shelbyville
The CCC Broncos lost a heartbreaker 8-6 to the Shelbyville Eagles today. The Eagles are big (probally the biggest O and D line in Division II) with good coaching and a definite League Championship contender. We knew it would be a tough game but our Broncos were up to he task.
The team played great, like the Champions they are. Our defense was vicious delivering jarring hits that made the entire crowd say "ooooooooh" and only allowing the Eagle offense to score 6 points. Our blocking on offense was the best it's been all season. On one play four eagles were "pancaked" and remained on the ground after the play was whistled dead. Our backs were running well. How did we end up with a loss? Two of our touchdowns were called back because of very questionable judgement calls by officials. Our entire coaching staff was dismayed with these calls which we felt were definately wrong. The game was 6-2 until very late in the 4th quarter. With ony about 1:30 left in the game, the Eagles scored on their only big play of the day, a 40 yard pass play (about a 10 yard pass and 30 yards RAC). Our Broncos were unable to score in the time remaining in the game. After the game Coach Word told our kids. "I'm proud of the way you played today. It was our best game of the season. Unfortunately we came up short on the score. It demonstrates that we must be ever vigilent and never let down our guard for even a moment."
We want to congratulate the Eagles on their win and extend our thanks to the entire Shelbyville Youth Football Organization. They were very gracious host. We really enjoyed playing there.
Photos will be posted in a few days. We will be in McMinnville next Saturday for our final regular season game.
Sunday, October 20
Pee Wee Broncos Slip In The Morning Dew
Our Pee Wee (5-6)Broncos visited division rival Una Bears at 8:00 A.M. Saturday. Apparently our little ponies were slipping on the morning dew on Saturday or simply not awake. When Coach Tink got to Shelbyville he didn't provide any details about the game. He simply said it was their worst game ever. he didn't say what the score was but I believe it was in the "thirty sumthin' to nuthin" range.
Everyone should give Coach Ricky a gold star. All of our Pee Wees spent the night at his house because of the early starting time for this game.
Tuesday, October 15
CCC Broncos North Division II Champs
Our CCC Broncos demolished their final North Division opponent, the Springfield Yellow Jackets,34-0 to become the North Division II Champions. The game was stopped at the end of the 3rd quarter due to the "mercy rule". Coach Word stated after the victory that "this honor was due to the hard work of our kids, coaching staff and parents. Few people in the entire Mid-State organization expected us to be this successful our first year in the league".
Our team played great. Our defense gained their third straight shut out of the season. There were numerous tackles of the Jacket backs in the backfield by our interior defnsive front consisting of Tomaz Kerley, Jeremy Knight, Devin Haynes, Derek Smith and Darrius Goodman. William Bradley and Shawn Puckett, our starting defensive ends had their best games of the season puting constant pressure on the Jacket QB an showing him what the term "sack" really means.
Our offense was "off the chain". The O line was punching holes throught the Yellow Jacket D line and our backs were taking full advantage of that fact. If the Mid-State League had a Heisman Trophy, our own Mike Sykes would be the leading cnadidate. He again showed why he is one of the best backs in Mid-State. Mike scord three TDs including returning a punt for a TD. Jeremy Patton and Arkaylus Thomas also scored TDs in the win. Jamie Dunn is improving each week as our back-up for Mike Sykes. It was a great win, a team victory.
The CCC Bronco will be in Shebyville next week then end the regular season at Warren County (McMinnville).
Homecoming A Great Success
All the hard work and preparation paid off. Our Homecoming was a great success. Our Homecoming Committee is to be congratulated. We also thank all of our parents who helped make our first Homecoming grand. Our Spirit Week activities were fun filled affairs especially our pep rally on Friday. The turn out was outstanding even after the rain.
Our Saturday half-time presentation of our King, Queen and their court was beautiful. Each of our cheerleaders and all football players were introduced. All of our cheerleaders from all our squads were presented with a beautiful orange long stemmed rose and escorted through a golden arch like you sometimes see at large weddings. The girls were all smiles and the boys were bashful, especially when they had to hold hands an go through the arch. I've never heard so much giggling and high pitched squeals in all my life.
There was free food for all the kids. All of our triple letter designated teams won their games and the CCC team became the North Division II Champions. It was a grand day in Bronco territory....Goooooo Broncos.
CCC Bronco Defense Gets 3rd Consecutive Shut-Out
The CCC(7-8)Bronco defense is "Rock Solid". Our defense is only allowing an average of 4.66 points per game to our opponents. Our D secured its third straight shut-out Saturday. The Broncos will be hard to beat in our remaining regular season games and the play-offs if the D continues to play at this level.
Tuesday, October 15
BBB and AAA Broncos Gain Victory Over Division Rivals
Our BBB (9-10) Broncos defeated the Sprinfield Yellow Jackets 25-0 on Homecoming Saturday. Coach Deanthony and his staff were out to show the fans that the CCC Broncos are not the only team in Bronco county that knows how to shut-out opponents. The Broncos dominated the game from beginning to end. Antwan Vanlier, David Sanders Rodney Anderson all scored TDs. The defense scored a safety. I'm sure Coach D was happy with the result.
Our AAA (11-12) Broncos also secured a win on Saturday. Maurice House, James Short, Lamar McLaurin and Clay Cunningham stepped up their game and were instrumental in gaining the victory.
Spirit Week In Full Swing!!!
This week is "SPIRIT WEEK" here on the range. Spirit Week is the celebration the Broncos have leading up to our Homecoming games. Our Homecoming is on Saturday, October 12th. We will give our principle opponent, the Springfield Yellow Jackets, free lessons on how to play the game. Spirit Week is always a wonderful time here on the range. Our Homecoming committee has done an excellent job and are to to congratulated. Here are some of the activities that are taking place this week.
MONDAY - The naming of the Homecoming king, Queen and court members. Banner and flag making for the game by parents and cheerleaders.
TUESDAY - Cupcake day. All players and cheerleaders eat their fill of delicious football cupcakes with creamy orange whipped cream icing with a variety of beverages.
THURSDAY - "DO SOMETHING SPECIAL FOR YOUR TEAM DAY". Parents and coaches of each team will be doing variety of different activities especially for their team from pizza parties to bar-b-ques.
FRIDAY - Bronco Pep Rally. The classic pep rally begins at 6:00 P.M. Music, fun and food for all players, cheerleaders, parents, supporters and friends.
SATURDAY - HOMECOMING GAMES AND FESTIVITIES.
Great Bronco teams, great spirit. What else can you ask for?
CCC Broncos Bounce Steelers 34-0
Our CCC Broncos faced Division II rival Bellevue on Saturday. The result was a 34-0 victory for the Broncos no the Steelers home field. Our kids played a great game on both sides of the ball. Mike Sykes duplicated Al Bundy's (Married with Children) feat of scoring 4 touchdowns in one game. Our defense played great again this week. Derek Smith stampeded through the Steeler offensive line to sack their QB thre times. This is the second week in a row that the defense has held our opponent scoreless. Coach Word and Coach Sprowl were not present at the game because they had to attend a family member's wedding. Coach Word stated that he has one of he best coaching staffs in the league and he knew they would get the job done. Just as soon as more information becomes available, there will be a more detailed account about the Broncos day at Bellevue.
Sunday, September 29
CCC Broncos Stampede Through Flatrock 34-0
The CCC(7-8)Broncos were ready to run when the Flatrock Vols came for a visit on Saturday. Our Broncos ran over around and through the Flatrock defense. Although our starters Arkaylus Thomas and William Bradley were unavailable for the game, Shawn Puckett and Darrius Darden stepped up and did a great job. David Wilson also did a good job as our backup QB when our starter, Jeremy Patton was late arriving to the game and could not play until after the halftime break.
Our defense dominated the field forcing the Vols to commit a number of errors. As a result of our outstanding defensive line play, the Vols QB was forced into throwing two interceptions. Both of those interceptions were returned for touchdowns by Jeremy Patton.
Our offense was in high gear churning out a bunch of yards against the Vols defense. Our offensive line was superb creating holes for our backs. Our Fullback, Michael Sykes scored three TDs behind the blocking of the Bronco stallions.
Next week our Broncos will take on Division rival, Bellevue Steelers.
Sunday, September 15
Week Three Results
Our Bronco teams were set and ready to run on Saturday. The Grassland Golden Eagles had flown to "the range" and the Broncos wanted to send them back to Grassland missing a few feathers.
The Day started with our BB Broncos facing the BB Eagles. The Broncos never got their offense on track "on track" and the defense must have taken the day off. The Eagles dominated the game from start to finish and the Eagles came away with a 34-0 victory over the Broncos.
Next the BBB Broncos took on the BBB Golden Eagles. This was a "see saw" battle until the Broncos took control. David Sanders was the "work horse" for the Broncos with his hard running. When the final horn sounded, the scoreboard showed a 25-15 victory for the Broncos.
The CCC Broncos were the next team to face the Eagles claws. The Broncos started slow. Our starting QB was not availavle for the game. The Defense allowed the Eagles to score and complete a two point conversion for an 8-0 lead. The second half was a different story. The Broncos took charge. Our defense held the eagles scoreless and our offensive line started to punch holes through the middle of the Eagles defense. Mike Sykes then went to work scoring two TDs on long runs of 35 and 45 yards. Qunidell Cousin also showed us his speed scoring a 30 yard touchdown. When the game ended the Broncos had secured a 20-8 victory.
The AAA Broncos were the next team to face the Eagles. There same a sudden rainstorm which apparently affected the ball handling abilities of the Broncos. Bronco backs fumbled the ball three times inside their 20 yard line. The Eagles recovered all those fumbles and put 13 points on the board as a result. Each time the Broncos were putting together a drive one of the backs would fumble the ball. By the end of the game, the Broncos had fumbled 8 times and lost them all. The Eagles had clawed out a victory over the Broncos 13-0. After the game Coach Kelii stated that he was dismayed by the number of fumbles. "We had pacticed in the rain on a number of occasions. You don't often win a game when you turn the ball over that many times". It looks like the AAA Broncos will be doing wet ball drills next week.
The final game of the day was the Pee Wee Broncos vs the Una Bears. This was a game that Caoch Tinker and his staff desparately wanted to win. Una has produced championship teams year in and year out in the Mid-State League. This is our first year in the league and Coach Tinker wanted to show them that there is a new sheriff in town. The game was a tied until late in the forth quarter when Una managed to produce a couple of TDs for the win. The game ended 19-7. Avery Johnson was the Broncos game MVP. He showed a comination of swift running and hard tackling to earn the honor.

Broncos Are Off And Running For Mid-State Championships
Lamar McLaurin scored 3 TDs for the AAA Broncos
The Broncos started their quest for Mid-State Youth Football League championships on Saturday, September 7th. The temperature was in the 90s but both players and fans endured the heat. The first game of the day was a thriller. Our Pee Wee (5-6) Broncos were behind 12-6. The clock was running out when one of the Bronco backs bolted 40 yard for a TD with nine seconds remaining on the clock. The extra point attempt was good. The Bronco defense held for the remaining nine seconds and our Pee Wees came out with a hard fought victory over the B.C. Cobras 13-12.
The BB (9-10) Broncos were not so fortunate. They were out played by a strong Madison Titans team. The Broncos were defeated 21-0.
The BBB Broncos faced the BBB Bullgogs from Old Hickory. It was a tough game that was tied 6-6 at the end of the regulation time period. The game went into the "tie breaker" mode. The Broncos had a chance to score when they were just inches from the goal on fourth down but failed to do so. The game went to the next possessions. The Bulldogs scored but failed to make the extra point. The Broncos then received he ball, scored and were sucessful with their try for the extra point. As a result they came away with a 13-12 victory over a determined Bulldog team.
The stunner of the day was the loss by the CCC Broncos to the CCC Bulldogs 14-0. The Broncos had faced the Bulldogs in a pre-season game at the Smyrna Invitational and came away with a hard fought victory. However it was the Bulldogs turn to be winners today. When asked about the loss, Coach Word stated, "It was obvious that Old Hickory's kids came to play and our kids left their best game at the house. The Bulldogs are a good team that is well coached. We're looking forward to the play-offs where we'll probably see them again. Next time I hope the results are different."
The final game of the day was between our AAA (11-12) Broncos and te AAA Bulldogs. Our Broncos dominated this game from the starting whistle. The Bronco backs seemed to be running downhill. The game was stopped at the end of the third quarter due to what the coaches call "the mercy rule". The Broncos pounded the AAA Bulldogs 33-0.

Pee Wee Broncos Open Season With 31-0 Win

Jamboree Results
Coach Bobby and some of the CCC Broncos watch the action on the field.
The Mid-State Youth Football League Jamborees were held on Saturday, August 17, 2002 at various sites in the area. All Northern Division teams played at Bellevue. Coach Tinker and the PeeWee (5-6) Broncos were the first team from West Nashville to take the field. Coach Tinker and his staff were not at their best because of the late arrive of key players. The Steelers were big, strong and well coached. They went on to defeat our PeeWee Broncos 20-0.
Next, our BB (9-10) Broncos met the perennial powerhouse of the Mid-State League, Una Bears. Coach Ed, his staff and the team showed Una what they can expect anytime they play the Broncos. The Bears went home with a defeat handed to them by our Broncos.
Our CCC (7-8) Broncos defeated the Bellevue Steelers 14-6. The Broncos scored on their first two possessions early in the first quarter. Coach Word and his staff played their "second stringers" during te remainder of the game. Of course the starters on offense and defense weren't happy about that because they had a considerable amount of "bench time". However this was a perfect time for Coach Word and his staff to let his younger and less experienced players get experience against a quality opponent. The Steelers scored late in the second quarter and the game ended. The CCC Broncos and Steelers will meet again at Bellevue during the regular season in late October.
The game between our AAA (11-12) Broncos and the Steelers ended in a 0-0 tie. Coach Kelii stated that the Broncos were missing a couple of key starters. It was a hard fought game with neither team being able to put together a scoring drive. The reason for this was the excellent defense exhibited by both teams.
The final appearence of a West Nashville team in the Jamboree was when our BBB (9-10) Broncos lined up across from the BBB Steelers. Coach Deanthony and his staff's "hybird" offense was shut down by the Steelers. The Steelers run an I-Formation offense. Th Bronco defense could not handle the pitch sweep, generally a staple play of the I-Formation. The Steelers went on to defeat the Broncos. Our Broncos will see these guys again later in the season. Hopefully, the results will be different.
Broncos Sweep Smyrna Kick-Off Invitational
CCC Broncos celebrate championship.
Bronco teams captured all four division championships at the Smyrna Invitational. It will probably be a long time before the Broncos are invited back again. After dominating the first day of play on Saturday, the Broncos returned Sunday to heap more misery upon their opponents during the championship games.
The Bronco Pee Wees (5-6) were the first to take care of business and claim a championship trophy. The CCC (7-8) Broncos secured their championship trophy by overcoming a tough team from Old Hickory, Tennessee with a 7-6 victory. The BBB (9-10) Broncos had an easier time of it with a 33-0 win. The best game of the tournament was between the AAA (11-12) Broncos and Shelbyville Eagles. It was a classic battle between size and quickness, David vs Goliath. The Shelbyville team was large with a big hard running tail back. He had pulverized opponents the first day of the tournament. He ran through them like a hot knife through butter, throwing off and dragging would-be tacklers. Shelbyville had a surprise in store for them when they faced the Broncos. The coaching collective of Word, Word & Word had scouted the Eagles and devised a plan. We can't tell you what the plan was because they may have to use it again against the Eagles later in the year. However it worked as planned. The Broncos scored with with 55 seconds left in the game to take home the trophy. We had scored a TD eariler but it was called back due to a penalty on the play.
I was a great day for the Broncos. Four teams equaled four championships. Additional photos from the Smyrna Kick-Off are on the "Bronco Photos" page.
Broncos Dominate First Day of Smyrna Invitational
Coach Kelii looks over his competition for the championship trophy.
The weather was hot with the temperature during the game being 96 degrees and a heat index over 100 degrees on the field. West Nashville Broncos made their first appearance at the Smyrna Kick-Off Invitationa tournament. The tournament is a two day affair with eliminations played on Saturday and the Championships played on the following Sunday. The Broncos faced some of the "power houses" from the Middle Tennessee area. The Broncos had been told they would be "lunch meat" for the powerful teams they were facing from Division II of the Mid-State League. The Broncos teams withstood the test.
The day started with a victory when the CCC (7-8) clipped the wings of the Grassland Golden Eagles 32-0. The Broncos bolted ahead when Arkaylus Thomas scored on a 55 yard run on the first play of the game. Arkaylus went on to score two more TDs. The defense stepped up with Jeremy Knight and
"Big Twin" delivering "bone crushing" tackles. When Jeremy sacked the Eagles QB the entire crowd let out a collective "OOOOOOOOOOOHHH". The Broncos finshed the day with over 350 yards rushing.
When asked about the impressive showing Coach Word stated that "this was a team victory. The offense, defense and coaches performed their jobs and it resulted in a win."
The Pee Wee (5-6) Broncos showed the other teams what they could expect during the coming season. Our Pee Wees posted a 25-19 victory over their opponent. "Itty Bitty" showed the crowd what he could do by making dazzling runs which included "high steppin" and "reversing field". Coach Tinker stated after the game "I think I've got me a squad this year."
The Grassland organization must have thought they were seeing double when the AAA (11-12) Broncos stepped on the field. The AAA Broncos are a mirror image of the CCC (7-8) Broncos because they run the same offense and defense. It was a hard fought game but the AAA Broncos took care of business with a 7-0 win over the Golden Eagles. Coach Kelii Word stated "we need to improve on a number of things but overall the team performed well.
Tomorrow is another day. All Bronco teams will be playing for the Championship of their division on Sunday.

Broncos To Play At Smryna Kick-Off Invitational
The AAA (11-12), BBB (9-10), CCC (7-8) and Pee Wee (5-6) Broncos will be in action at Smryna on Saturday, August 3rd. This is a scrimmage event. Coaches are allowed to be on the field because none of the teams are actually ready for a "real game" at this point. By Saturday our teams will have only a total of 8 days of practice and only 5 days in pads. All the other teams are in the same shape so there is no pressure. This is just an opportunity to see our kids in action. The coaches get to see our rookie players in "game like" conditions and try out various personnel combinations. It should be a fun day for everyone.
Our BB (9-10) Broncos will be playing at a scrimmage a few days later. We'll have more news on that event shortly.
What Do They Look Like Coach?
Coach Ivy attempts to make a point on the first dayof practice.
The question Broncos coaches are getting after four days of practice is "What do they look like Coach? Well the answer to that question depends on which coac you ask. Coach Tink (pee wees) says that he thinks his kids will do well once they learn their right from their left. Coach Kelii (11-12 AAA Broncos) says that he's got a couple of good receivers and a QB that can deliver the ball. Coach Ivy (9-10 BB Broncos) says his team is going to surprise a lot of people. Coach Spear says he has a play that is a guaranteed to score six points (We all can't wait to see this play). Coach Word (7-8 CCC Broncos) says his team is coming along slowly but they are making progress.
Bronco coaches are known to be coservative with their perdictions. Somehow they always manage to come out on top. We'll see what's going to happen this year.
Coach Ivy and a few BB Broncos.

Football Heaven!
Where could you find some of the best coaches in the country all at one location. Here's a few names, Phil Fulmer, Bobby Johnson, John Chavis, Maurice Fitzgerald, Ricky Bowers, our own Coach Ron Word and they were only a few of the coaches there. You could find them all at the "Super Duper" Football Clinic held here in Nashville. Coach Ron says, "It was like being in football heaven. I expected to see Vince Lombardi step through the door at any time. It was great to be able to talk football with coaches of this caliber." Watch out for Coach Ron and the BBB Broncos this year.
Sign-up were conducted at West Park today. There are going to be a bunch of new Broncos running the range when league practices start. The Broncos took part in the Sponsor Day Carnival being held at the Park. Here's one of the latest Bronco signees. His name is Austin. He'll be a Pee Wee Bronco this year. Austin says he's ready to go even though he injured his hand recently climbing a fence. If he's climbing fences, he'll make a perfect Bronco.

I appreciate the Executive Board's confidence in my ability to get the job done."

West Nashville Coaches Attend Clinic In Atlanta
West Nashville coaches Ron Word and Kelii Word were in Atlanta recently to attend a clinic given by Coach Hugh Wyatt from Camas, Washington. According to both of our coaches, it was a great clinic. There were coaches there from as far away as the state of Maryland. "We learned a lot and met a bunch of other coaches". Both Kelii and Ron state that they can hardly wait until the start of the season.
