Brigantine Beach Volleyball Association: BBVA News

Summer is around the corner (finally) and BBVA is getting ready to welcome all players for the 2012 season of Thursday Nights!!  Open play (pick-ups), 6s, 4s, and/or 2s format. Thursday, May 17th will be the season opener starting @ 6:00pm until dusk.

BBVA annual membership is $30 (save $5 if you register before Memorial Day) and you must sign a player's waiver.

Signing up with Volley America is required along with your BBVA membership.  Also save $5 if you sign up online at: www.volleyamerica.com ($15).  If you decide to do on-site through BBVA, it will be $20.

BBVA gladly announce that the 2012 Steve Hopp Memorial Scholarship package is now available for the 2011-2012 school year to student athletes in all Atlantic County high schools with volleyball programs.  All applicants must mail in their application by the due date: Friday, April 27th, 2012 and must include proper signatures and paper work/info requested.  For questions, contact us at: bbva.scholarship@hotmail.com

Sunday's event (Aug. 21 - Men & Women) for the Steve Hopp Memorial Volleyball Tournament has been postponed for September 17th!  Saturday's event (Aug. 20 - Coeds 2s & 4s) is still running with registration check-in starting 8:30-9:00am, for a 9:15am start.

Joe Campitelli of Brigantine Clean Community has established the dates (Saturdays) for the beach cleanup project for 2011, and BBVA will be participating in this event and all members, friends and families are invited:

* May 28th     * June 18th     * July 16th     * September 17th

Note:  Groups must register at the 17th Street and Ocean Avenue parking lot at 9:00 A.M. Gloves and plastic bags will be provided. All BBVA members are welcome to participate, and possible volleyball play right after!!!

BBVA in affiliation with GAV wants to announce that we will be hosting our 2 traditional weekend tournaments at 38th Street Beach in Brigantine, NJ for 2011:

  * Greenhead Open                            July 2nd & 3rd

  * Steve Hopp Memorial Classic     Aug. 20th & 21st

The BBVA annual membership is $30 ($25 if sign-up before Memorial Day) and you must sign the player waiver form and you must have a Volley America membership number.

You can register with Volley America online ($15) at: www.volleyamerica.com and select "Brigantine Beach Volleyball" as your 'League' or 'Tournament' on the Type of Play field. Once you get your membership number (order number), fill out the Volley America form from this website, write your number on it and return to us.

If you choose to do it on-site with BBVA (38th Street beach courts) the registration will be $20, we'll get it done for you & send you an email with your membership number to keep and use on future events.

BBVA is launching a quarterly newsletter to publish volleyball related information in the Atlantic County area, and wants YOU to name it!!

The selected winner will get a free BBVA membership which allows you participation on: BBVA Thursday night summer league, GAV tournament events, and the traditional BBVA Labor Day weekend members' tournament.  You can submit as many entries as you like, by Wed. March 16, to: bbva.membership@hotmail.com

BBVA held its Annual Members Meeting on Saturday, January 29th at the Brigantine Public Library @ 11am.  A treasurer's report for 2010 was made available, and updates of the Steve Hopp Memorial Scholarship was discussed.  Also, nominations were held for the new 2011-2013 Board of Directors...congratulation to all new officers!!
