Brigantine Beach Volleyball Association: BBVA & Scholarship Forms

Mission Statement:
Our mission is to establish a sustained volleyball scholarship program to aid high school students in the greater Atlantic County area. Our ultimate goal is provide selected high school seniors with a cash scholarship, and also sponsor high school underclassmen for local volleyball camps to develop their volleyball skills.

Introduction:
Steve Hopp was a resident of Brigantine and dedicated much of his life to promoting the sport of volleyball. His passion for the sport was well known by many and motivated numerous players throughout his life to play to the best of their ability. Steve was an active leader who stood up to maintain the Brigantine Beach Volleyball Association (BBVA) alive during the latent years and eventually became president. His involvement, as well as his wife Debbie, in the BBVA included fundraisers so that BBVA could provide a venue for the community to play and help promote the sport of volleyball.   

Steve is known to be the originator of the legendary barbecue held at the beach on 38th Street around the volleyball courts. He passed away much too early in his life on a volleyball court doing what he loved.   

A scholarship program is being presented in his memory, so that his affinity for the sport could be remembered for years to come. In an effort to honor Steve Hopp’s memory and address the need of volleyball programs in Atlantic County, the BBVA has created the Steve Hopp Memorial Scholarship Fund.

In an effort to spread news about who BBVA is, and what it does the Board of Directors launched its very own newsletter for the first time in March 2011. Learn about board members, upcoming events, community outreach, and scholarship information on each edition.

"The Greenhead Smacker News" got its name after a contest allowing all previous members to submit names. The winner received a free BBVA annual membership.

2011 Fall - Newsletter

All participants of the summer Thursday Night open play and any tournament will need to sign a player waiver along with their annual $30 BBVA membership.
