Bridgewater Community Little League: Welcome

JMU head baseball coach Marlin Ikenberry is happy to announce a partnership with Bridgewater Community Little League for  free camp clinics for the Little Leaguers in the Shenandoah Valley. At JMU, being a part of the Little League community is a responsibility we do not take lightly. We are excited about being able to teach and develop youth players in the game of baseball. We hope this is the beginning of a longstanding relationship between youth baseball players in the Valley and James Madison baseball.

Staff: We will anticipate between 10 to 15 JMU baseball players and coaches at each clinic.

Dates: Oct. 15, Nov. 12

Time: Each camp will run from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The camp is free.

This link just helps us anticipate how many campers we will have at each event. This is also a way for you to receive JMU baseball updates throughout the year. Drills: We will cover all aspects of the game, including hitting, pitching, defense and baserunning. We will teach high-level fundamentals while making it fun and interactive with the kids. Some drills may differ from others based upon players ages.

Equipment: Each player should bring his glove, bat, cleats, baseball pants, and a baseball hat. Please dress like a ballplayer.

On Sunday, Bridgewater Community Little League lost an important member of its league. Garland Wise, long-time president, manger, coach and umpire for the league, died Feb. 14.

Garland was integral in the building of BCLL to what it has become today - one of the best leagues in the state. In addition to his role with BCLL, Garland served on the District 3 staff for many years.

Many of our former and current players have fond memories of Garland cheering on their teams at the local, district and state levels. He supported all children who wanted to play baseball and softball and made BCLL home to many. We hold his family and friends in our thoughts and prayers during this time.

Condolences may be sent to his family at
