Briarwood LL is saddened by the loss of one their District umpires. To the Family of Jack Holman we send our love and condolences. We thank him for the many years of service to the District and world of Little League Baseball he will be missed on the field of dreams.

The AllStar Teams:

The allstar teams were announced. See tab on the left (<<==) for the players selected.
Each of the all-star tournaments are double-elimination.

For 9 year olds: There is a friendship tournament at Campbell Little League. Briarwood won the 1st round game 13-6 against against Cupertino American!!
In the 2nd round, Briarwood lost an exciting and hard-fought 16-15 game against Campbell.

For 9/10 allstars: Briarwood won their 2nd game 23-9 against Cupertino National.
But Briarwood lost to SC Homestead 18-6 to end their tournament run.

For 10/11 allstars: Briarwood won their 3rd round game against SC Homestead 18-7!! Their semi-final game is at 5:30 on Thursday July 9th against Moreland at Serra LL Field.
Please come out and support as they try to make it to the Championship Game.

For 11/12 allstars: Briarwood is 3-1 in the tournament.
Their next game is at 5:30pm on Thursday July 9th against SC Westside at Moreland LL field.
If they win, they will make it to the Championship game.
Please come out and support as they battle their archrivals and try to make to the Championship Game.

Congrats to the Pirates!!
They won the Major league championship to respresent Briarwood in the Major League TOCs. The Pirates lost 11-10 against Sunnyvale Metro in the 1st round, but had a great season.

They won the Minor league championship to respresent Briarwood in the Minor League TOCs. They had a 1st round bye and won the 2nd round game against Sunnyvale Southern 9-7!!
They had a close battle with Serra in the semi-final, but lost 7-6.

Briarwood will be hosting many All Star and TOC games. Volunteers are needed to make all this successful. See the details under "my site news" for the games/dates and the help needed.

Golf Anyone?

There is a Wade Brummal Golf Tournament at the SC Golf and Tennis Club on Friday July 10th which supports the Youth of Santa Clara. This organization helps Briarwood to help pay for kids that otherwise would not be able to play in Little League baseball. To participate, you need to signup by July 2nd. See the flyer in the Handout section for more details.

All Star Academy is holding weekly summer baseball camps from June => August. For details and schedules, check "Allstar Academy camps" under the "handouts" tab or their website asabaseball.com. The camps are for kids 7-12.

New Bat Rules for 2009
Little League is instituting the following rule for bats in 2009. "Beginning with the 2009 season, non wood bats used in divisions of Little League (league age 12 years old and younger) shall be printed with a BPF (bat performance factor) of 1.15 or less. Senior and Big League non wood bats shall meet the BESR (Bat Exit Speed Ratio) performance standard, and such bats shall be printed with a permanent certification mark."
If you have a bat or plan on purchasing a new one for the upcoming season, please ensure it meets the above criteria or you will not be able to use it.
