Tuesday, September 2 REDWINGS ON THE RADAR IN BARRINGTON
We try to keep our organization visible with people who might like an athletic outlet like youth hockey for their children. So, we are always doing different outreach programs like the one we have just concluded at the Barrington Library. Here is a photo of one on the five display cases we decorated with a hockey and Redwing theme during the month of August. These display cases were all on the stairs leading up to the Kids Section. This is an example of ways you can volunteer time and help the Redwing Hockey Organization grow stronger. If you have ideas you would like to share, send them to info@redwinghockey.com Thursday, August 14 REDWINGS LOOKED SMOOTH AS ICE AT THE BARRINGTON 4TH OF JULY PARADE
We had another great turnout for the Redwings float in the Barrington 4th of July Parade. Even our beloved Zamboni made a special appearance in the July 4th parade! The kids distributed candy, free public skate passes, and asked children to shoot on goal as we made our way down Main Street.
A great way to kick-off the 4th!
Thanks for helping show Barrington our Redwing spirit. Be sure to join us next year. Go Redwings!
Tuesday, June 24 OVERWHELMING RESPONSE TO 2008-09 PRE-REGISTRATION SAVINGS OFFER
Redwing families know a good deal when they see one. As a result, the organization has set a new record for players who have pre-registered for Fall/Winter 2008-09.
This past Fall/Winter and in our Spring season, the RHO program has made great strides in bringing new players to hockey. We also saw impressive league and tournament results and banners from our Mite, Squirt and PeeWee teams, and the Bantams and Midgets had great seasons and are beginning to get ready for their next steps in hockey. All in all the Redwings Hockey Organization is in great shape thanks to you and our players. So, when our members saw this offer they jumped on the deal:
THIS IS YOUR CHANCE TO SAVE $500 ON FALL FEES WITH ONLY A $250 DOWN PAYMENT NOW! You have all helped us by allowing us to start to prepare our Fall/Winter 2008-09 coaching lineup, to plan how many teams at what level, to start to schedule our ice slots for our membership, to better plan and order uniforms and most importantly to build on the success of the RHO.
Since we expect moderate increases in next year’s fees; by signing up early you have helped keep those increases as reasonable as possible, and you will save on your overall fee.
There will still be an opportunity to further discount your fees by selling advertising space in the directory as in previous years. Look for more informaton on that program as soon as it becomes available.
The Fall Registration form is an Excel file and it can still be accessed from the Handouts tab below. Handout: Registration Friday, April 25 ANNOUNCING THE REDWINGS HOCKEY ORGANIZATION 2008-09 BOARD OF DIRECTORS

If possible, please try and talk with the person whose area of responsibility covers the topic you want to comment on. As in any organization, we need to work together to make the Redwing youth hockey experience for our kids the best it can be. We have a much better chance to achieve this goal when you add your voice and talents to the effort.
Tuesday, March 11 REDWING MITE AA's ROCK WISCONSIN, WINNING ELMBROOK SHOOT-OUT!
The Mite AA team participated in the 2008 Elmbrook Shoot-out tournament over the March 7-9th weekend. The team started things right with 5-3 win over Appleton on Friday night. Saturday was also a rewarding day, despite losing 2 players to the flu; the Mite AA's beat Elmbrook 6-0 and Waunakee 8-0 to make it to the championship game on Sunday. The icing on the cake was a 5-2 win in the Championship game over Elmbrook to bring a nice big trophy to our home rink. Several of the players earned special patches for the tournament. Dallas Duckson received a Hat Trick patch, Trent Federighi received a Playmaker patch and Eryn Cooley received 2 Shutout patches. Congratulations Mite AA team and coaches on a job well done! Go Redwings! Sunday, March 9 NWHL SILVER MITE CHAMPIONSHIP BANNER FLIES IN BARRINGTON - THE EARLY REDWINGS GET THE WORM!
In an amazing display of the power of pre-sweetened cereal and alarm clocks, the Redwing Silver Mites got up early on this the first morning of Daylight Savings Time to take care of business in the 7:30AM NWHL Silver Mite Championship at the Franklin Park ice rink. Coach Aloisio had his boys ready to rock and the Redwing Silver Mites toppled the previously unbeaten Admirals 5-2 to sieze the championship banner for the Redwing organization. Mark Thornton staked the team to a 2-0 advantage and the team rolled from there with Jack Jones notching a hat trick, the D and the forwards combining to erase any significant Admiral offensive threats, and Andrew Allie continuing the strong play in net, that he demonstrated throughout the NWHL Tournament. The players, their parents and our wonderful Silver Mite Coaches John Aloisio and Steve Allie deserve a big pat on the back for all their hard work this season. What a terrific first step they have all made in their youth hockey journey. Way to go Silver Mites! Go Redwings! Tuesday, February 26 BANTAM A's TAKE 2ND IN STATE CHAMPIONSHIP!
Congratulations to the Bantam A team and their coaches for playing so well, and advancing to the Blackhawk Cup State Championship Finals! What an accomplishment!
The Bantam's fine tournament run started with a 2-0 win over the Leafs which got them into the round-robin brackets. In the round-robin games the Bantams beat Rockford in a 3-2 overtime thriller, lost to the Flames 0-3, and on Sunday night, the Redwings beat the Express 2-1. This win locked up a spot for the team in the Bantam B State Championship Final against the Huskies. In the final, the Bantam A's could not solve the Huskies goaltender as they lost a 4-0 decision. In any case the second place in the Balckhawk Cup is an outstanding achievement for the Bantam A team and for the Redwing organization.
Way to go, Bantam A's! Go Redwings!
Sunday, February 17 REDWINGS WRAP UP NIHL WITH TWO 4TH PLACE BANNERS - SQUIRT A2'S AND MIDGET MAJORS!
The Redwing organization was well represented in the NIHL tournament, and two of our teams made it to the final weekend of tournament play. The Midget Majors played in the Midget Major Elite division Consolation Game, which could not have been tighter. The Redwings fought tooth and nail but dropped a heartbreaker to the Komets, 1-0. The #13 seed Redwing Squirt A2's played out of their minds to make it to the final four of the Squirt Bronze division, and played a strong game against the #6 seed Jets. With good pressure on net from both teams, the Redwings came up a little short, ending up on the wrong side of a 4-1 final score. So, there are two more NIHL banners to hang at the rink. We are proud of all our Redwing teams that played so hard in NIHL this year, and we congratulate the Midget Majors and the Squirt A2's on their teams' success and the banners that celebrate their achievements. Go Redwings!
Monday, March 3 SILVER MITES WIN ALL THREE NWHL TOURNAMENT ROUND-ROBIN GAMES!
The Redwing Silver Mites are becoming experts in winning. They are exploring the various ways you can win - convincingly, repeatedly, soundly, etc. And, this is how they swept through their three round-robin games of the NWHL Tournament. They have made it through to the semi-finals which they will play on Thursday night in a game against Oak Park. Coach John Aloisio and the Silver Mites have another two games to go as they battle for the NWHL Silver Mite banner. The Silver Mites show plenty of promise, and they represent the Redwings very well. Keep it going Silver Mites!. Go Redwings! Sunday, February 17 REDWING SILVER MITES, LED BY COACH ALOISIO, FLY TO 2ND PLACE IN NWHL REGULAR SEASON!
As we prepare for the NWHL post-season tournament, we can all enjoy the fine performance of the Redwing Silver Mite team, led by Head Coach John Aloisio. This team has become a powerhouse, riding their high-energy style to a 5-1-0 record and 2nd Place in the NWHL Silver Mite regular season standings, only a point out of first. The entire team and their coaches deserve our congratulations! Go Silver Mites! Go Redwings! Sunday, February 17 BANTAM A SECURE A PLACE IN ROUND ROBIN FIELD. PEEWEE A AND SQUIRT AA KNOCKED OUT OF BLACKHAWK CUP. The Squirt AA's dropped a 5-2 game to the Ice Dogs, and the PeeWee A's fell 4-2 to the Hawks in their first round Blackhawk Cup games. However, the Bantam A's chalked up a 2-0 win over the Leafs and have passed through to the round-robin portion of the tournament. So there will be a lot of driving to Romeoville to play those next three games. We congratulate these three teams for giving their best effort, and we encourage the Bantam A's to do well in their roun-robin games this coming week! Go Redwings! Monday, January 28 MORE REDWING ACTION IN THE NIHL TOURNAMENT THIS WEEKEND! MIDGET MAJORS, BANTAM AA'S AND SQUIRT A2'S ADVANCE!
The Redwing organization will be well-represented in the NIHL tournament with nearly all of our teams locking up spots in the big dance. We wish the Mite AA's, Squirt A2's, Squirt A1's, PeeWee AA's, Bantam AA's and Midget Majors the best of luck in their hunt for their division titles. The Mite AA's and Squirt A1's played their first round single-elimination games on Sunday, February 3rd. The PeeWee AA's and Midgets played a three game round-robin within theri divisions to qualify for the Championship or Consolation Games. The #7 seed, Redwing Midget Majors played well and grabbed a spot in the Consolation Game for 3rd Place. This game will be played against the #4 seed Kenosha Komets on Sunday, Feb. 10 at 7:20PM at the Fox Valley Ice Arena. The Squirt A2's have advanced out of the 1st Round beating the #4 seed Vikings in a 1-0 in a thriller on Saturday evening, February 2nd. Next up for the Squirt A2's will be a Quarterfinal game on February 9th against the Sabres #1 who have played tight games against the Squirt A2's all season. This game will be played at the Skatium in Skokie at 12:20PM on Saturday, Feb. 9th. The only Redwing squad seeded high enough to play at Home was the Redwing Bantam AA's, who beat the Falcons 4-3 to move on to the Quarterfinals. They will travel to the Ice Box in South Bend on Saturday the 9th to play the Flames #2 at 1:30PM. Make an effort to get out and support your Redwing teams. Go Redwings! Monday, February 11 NIHL TOURNAMENT - MIDGET MAJORS TAKE 4TH OVERALL. SQUIRT A2'S FALL TO #1 SEED PEKIN. WILL PLAY FOR 3RD.
Redwing Midget Majors played tough and lost a 1-0 thriller against the Komets on Sunday evening. The Midgets capture 4th place overall in the Midget Major Elite division. Matt Young was terrific in the net, but the Redwings could not put one past the Komets goalie. The Midget Majors are the first of our teams to bring home a banner from this year's NIHL Tournament. Congratulations to the players, coaches and parents of the Redwing Midget Majors! The Squirt A2's played the Squirt Bronze semi-final game today against the #1 seed, Pekin Dragons. The Dragons proved too tough for the Redwings who still have earned a place in the Consolation Game to be played on our home ice, at 6:10PM next Saturday evening. To get there, the #13 seed, Redwing Squirt A2's first beat the #4 seed Vikings; and then came out on top in a tight quarter-final contest against the #12 seed Sabres. The Bantam AA's played their hearts out Saturday as they fought to a tie in regulation play against the Flames. However, the Flames stole the game with an over-time goal to win the game 4-3, knocking the Redwings out of the tournament. A truly valiant effort on the part of the Redwings AA's. If you can make it, come on out and support your Redwing brothers and sisters. If you can't be there; then send these teams good vibes to help them play their best. Go Redwings! Monday, October 1 Our Redwing PeeWee AA team had a great weekend at the FireStorm Tournament in Indianapolis. The Redwings skated through the tournament field going 5 and 0. To capture the title the Redwings PeeWee AA's beat the Indianapolis Racers, the Glacier Ice Dogs, a first game against the Columbus Blue Jackets, a second game against the Blue Jackets and finally the Championship game vs. the Leafs. Every player on the team stood out, and every player contributed in these wins; including goals scored by our defensemen. The goalies denied shot after shot on them. And, Dylan Thomas received the MVP award for the tournament. What a terrific weekend! Redwing PeeWee AA's rock! Thursday, May 31 ROB HUTSON ANNOUNCED AS NEW REDWING HOCKEY PROGRAM DIRECTOR
